Steel Angel Kurumi or Mahoromatic?
Not being in the mood to take chances on the next series I get I gotta ask which I should get between these two..or if either are worth getting at all!
They both look super cute and fun with hyper fanservice action which doesn't bother me. But are the stories good? Are they re-watchable? Or just not as fun as they look?

I don't know about Kurumi, but Mahoromatic is quite good. That damn Shikijo woman should have got less screen time, though.

Steel Angel Kurumi (season 1) is great! It takes place in ancient Japan where a boy wakes up a robot named Kurumi with a kiss. And Kurumi starts following his Master everywhere.
It has some action and magic. If you like Sailormoon, then you are going to like Steel Angel Kurumi too. It has a bit of romance thrown in as well. Steel Angel Kurumi 2 on the other hand is entirely different. It has new characters (no boy this time but a girl who wakes up Kurumi) and is based on (lesbian) romance and comedy. Yes, there are LOTS of comedy goofs in the second season on lesbianiasm. It's funny though.
Overall, I would recommend the first season but not the second season unless you become a hardcore fan of the series and must collect everything that's related to it.

I'd pick Kurumi over Mahoromatic any day, desu.
It's better in every aspect including plot (SAK has one, M barely has a thought of one) and use of fanservice (SAK does it right in keeping it in small doses but M goes into overkill), desu. SAK also had more laugh out loud moments than M too, desu.
Plus Kurumi is far cuter than Mahoro, desu.
P.S. Here's a SAK wallpaper I quickly made. A simple screencap, but it works well as a desktop, desu.

You seem like the kind of person who'll lie.
However... this sword doesn't lie.

Derek has several Kurumi episodes on his computer that I'd love to sit down and watch, but I just can't findthe time. Someday, though. It looks mad cute, though, and I have the CUTEST music video to it.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well.
Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

I would stretch it all out, to make sure that you like it. As for me, I would go with Kurumi.Luchia Nanami wrote:Okay well thanks! I'll probably start collecting it in January then. But should I just get it all in one load or stretch it out?

I really liked Mahoromatic. Poor Mahoro, going against SAK people. I thought it had a nice plot, and is very passionate. Fun to watch. I have the first 2 dvds, and christmas better bring me some more >.<
OT: Aya Reiko, why are you saying Desu at the end of everything? Does it mean something, or is it like Digijo saying -nyo at the end of every sentence? OT

Kurumi says "desu" at the end of every sentence whether it's necessary or not, desu. ^^ Like Chichiri's "no da" desu.MonkeyDLuffy wrote:OT: Aya Reiko, why are you saying Desu at the end of everything? Does it mean something, or is it like Digijo saying -nyo at the end of every sentence? OT

Okay, while I usually don't find the idea of the harem genre very appealing, I LOVED Steel Angel Kurumi, especially the second series. Here's what I liked about each one:
Kurumi 1:
-In the beginning, it was almost like a parody of a harem anime. Kurumi kept bossing Nakahito around, ordering him to order HER around, which was really funny to me because I thought it was ironic. It was even funnier the way that when he really does tell her to do something, she refuses and does what SHE wants to do.
-The "desu" and "Kyuuin!" things are VERY cute. I like to imitate the "Kyuiin!" thing sometimes, I sometimes even just say it to myself or when I hug my doggies.
-Another funny irony was the parts where they were on the trains--but they're futuristic robot girls?! The mix of technologies made for subtle humor.
-Saki. Because I'm a sucker for lesbian characters, especially humorous and unstereotypical ones (since Saki isn't the stereotypical butch type--she more reminds me of Futaba from Puni Puni Poemi, who is another character I like a lot).
Kurumi 2:
-This one basically has everything I liked about the first one--only even better! It's the closest thing (along with Poemi) to an anime having everything I would want in an anime, that is, a comedy, with magical and funny lesbians. It even stars a girl with glasses! That and I think obsessive characters (like Uruka and her dad) are funny too, Uruka's dad is funny though for some personal in-joke reasons. I know a lot of people don't like this one because it's fluff, but I usually like anime that is fluff (if it has other things that I like in it, which Kurumi 2 has). It was wonderful for me to hear Kurumi calling a GIRL "Goshujisama!" Before I saw Kurumi 2, I had wished for a harem anime where a girl finds a magical girl (or many magical girls) who love her and that she at least becomes friends with them (unlike Miyuki-chan in Wonderland). And then I found Kurumi 2. (although Poemi fits what I was looking for well too)
