I finally got to see Return of the Cat. That's a cute film. I also watched Porco Rosso. That one just didn't quite draw me in as much.
At last I've been reunited with Howl's Moving Castle. I finally bought it wednesday. Target didn't have it, even though it was advertised. So i went to the bookstore next door. It cost more, but I was desperate. Tonight makes the 3rd time I've seen it since I bought it.

I bought Howl's Moving Castle on DVD at Walmart yesterday myself. This is the second time I've seen the movie. The first time was when I downloaded a cam rip of the film. The movie wasn't playing at any theaters near me and I was desperate to see it but now I finally own it. I'm re-watching it dubbed now for the first time which is interesting. I love Calcifer's dub VA but I just can't get used to Howl's VA at all. It just doesn't fit to me.

I love Ghibli Films I'm looking forward to Ponyo On A Cliff. I agree that Disney has excellent dubs and I like how they don't butcher it like other companies *cough*DiC*cough*. It's mainly because of a contract stating that when dubbing Miyazaki films, they can't cut anything and dumb it down for little kids. God, imagine if DiC got their hands on Princess Mononoke.<----That's a scary thought.

DiC get their hands on Mononoke Hime *trembles in sheer terror at the thought*. I'm going to have to go against the grain. I understood the movie quite well, and loved it. The story was just beautiful, if a little sad. Hotaru no Haka, loved it as well. Spirited away, great movie.
I saw a copy of Mononoke Hime in Suncoast the other day, but it was just a few dollars too much, I'm still depressed about it.

My favourite films are Princess Mononoke, Castle in the sky and Spirited Away. The storylines of these three films are so original and the animation is beautiful. Dakota Fanning did a good job in My neighbour Totoro though.
My least favourite is Nausica of the valley of the wind, it just bored me and seemed to drag on.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
One of my favourite scenes in CitS is where Sheeta is cooking and the argument between the henchmen:
Henchmen 1: (To henchman 2) What are you doing here?
Henchmen 2: (Peeling potato) Helping
Henchmen 3: (Bursts in with flower) I LOVE YOU!
Soon all the henchmen are helping her cook. XD
(Sorry if it's innacurate I wrote it from memory)

I'm kinda surprised I've never really posted in here... O_o;
Anywho, I <3 most of Studio Ghibli's films. My favorites are probably Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky.
I wasn't overly fond of The Cat Returns, but I think it was about 10x better than Whisper of the Heart to me, I was completely bored through most of the movie.
I couldn't even finish Pom Poko. Once they started shape-shifting with their testicles, I was done.

..Dakota Fanning was in Totoro? I had that dubbed VHS before she was even an actress o.O; My mom got it for me for my 13th birthday. WTF? Disney redubbed Totoro for their release. Dakota Fanning plays Satsuki and her little sister Elle plays Mei. The new dub is ok, but I still prefer the original dub.Tiff wrote:..Dakota Fanning was in Totoro? I had that dubbed VHS before she was even an actress o.O; My mom got it for me for my 13th birthday. You still have a Suncoast where you live? The one that was near my home was shut down, I was really mad. Last thing from that store that I own, A t-shirt of Corpse Bride.bushinoki wrote: I saw a copy of Mononoke Hime in Suncoast the other day, but it was just a few dollars too much, I'm still depressed about it.
Anyways, Ghibli films are the greatest and I love the stories behind them. Miyazaki is awesome.

I am also a fan of Sudio Ghibli, my favorites being Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. I haven't got the chances to see My Neighbour Totoro yet.
