New Anime Licenses for Geneon(formerly Pioneer)

Early word from the Las Vegas Comic Con is that Geneon (formerly Pioneer) announced they had acquired the following series:

Gad Guard (due late summer or early fall 2004)
Hajime No Ippo (due mid 2004)
Ikki Tosen (due late summer 2004)
Demon Lord Dante (This appears to be the same series that Media Blasters announced they had licensed. Media Blasters has stated that they were dropping some titles but never disclosed which ones.)"

I like Ippo and Ikkitousen. I'm surprised Ikkitousen has been licensed already.

hey... it can happen... but it will be cut like hell. 4kids got RID of a whole season of Yu-gi-oh!, seriously. because of, "violence" and other things. yeah, in one episode, Anzu is working at this place and Yuugi & Jounouchi walk in. Yeah, in Japan, if you are in High School, you can't work someplace, or you will get expelled. yeah, so... they change it to Anzu getting fired if someone else finds out.

so then, next scene when Anzu opens her locker, blackmail, saying to come to the Gym shed or she will be expelled. when she gets there, the gym teacher is telling her to have sex with him or she is expelled. they change it to him wanting to steal Anzu's purse.

Anzu dosen't CARRY a purse. so then, Yuugi comes in, turns to Yami Yuugi, and kicks the guy's ass.

and that's only the beginning...

Wow! So Yu-gi-oh! dosn't suck... who knew, I've only ever seen the NA vertion. Oh, and what the hell is Ikkitosen??? From the way you all talk it's either REALLY sexual or REALLY violent... or both

go talk to Bandit Ken when he comes on the board next time... belive me. there is no "Shadow Realm" crap in the original... everything made up about that is... Death or loss of body parts. in the Duel against Pandora, instead of, "being sent to the shadow realm by dark energy discs" it is "When you lose life points these blades will cut your legs off!"

And the duel on the skyscraper. when you lose, the glass breaks and you fall to your death, not you fall into the shadow realm. that would explain WHY Dark Mask has a parachute. and in the Yuugi/Jounouchi duel, When you lose, or run out of time for the duel, you are chained to an anchor, and the anchor falls into the ocean, leaving you to drown. Mai is sentenced to death in Battle City, Jounouchi is struck by a lightning bolt, Yami Bakura is practiclly killed... a lot of violent stuff.

ikkitousen is basically a fanservice anime, with heavy emphasis on the fanservice.

nope not even close. Chobits does have some but it's more extreme cuteness then outright fanservice most of the time!

Actually, it's got quite a bit of fanservice in it...but it's not PURE fanservice, as Luchia was saying.

I wonder if Geneon will be spelling with or without the "u"...

I'm not really too fimiliar with the titles that they licensed.

But they did licensed "L/R : Licensed by Royal". ::dances:: i love Licensed by Royal. Then again, it's orignally a Pioneer Animation. ^^;; I may purchase atleaste the first volume, just so I can see what voices they casted for Row, Jack, and Claire.
