Hunter x Hunter

Post by Musashi » Fri Apr 29, 2005 9:59 pm

I just noticed... there isn't a topic for this GREAT anime/manga series!
I love this show. ^^ It's about a boy named Gon who lives with his aunt Mito, who takes the hunter exam, searching for his father Ging. There he meets his friends (before exam) Kurapika, Lerio, and (during exam) Killua... and all kinds'a shtick happen.
And for some strange reason, Kurapika just looks girlier and girlier with each episode. -blink-
I like the chains he uses later, though...
So, what do you think?

I've seen a few episodes of it. I like it, and I wish someone would license it over here. I'm a bit upset VIZ licensed the manga, but as long as they don't censor it, I'll be fine. :x I heard in one of the volumes, the author (who is married to the princess) draws Sailor Moon. I really wanna see that.

Also, Leorio is sexy. Very sexy. The sexiest person on the show. :wink:

I'm watching the show. ^^ Haven't read much of the manga, but it's cool. :D
Hehe, yeah and Hisokou. ^^;; Without the clown make-up.

I watch the Arabic dub, which is really good. ^^ Hardly ANY cuts.

I just watched the first episode of Hunter x Hunter and I really loved it. It's already a little sad and I've heard it gets darker later on, so I really can't wait for it. The opening theme song was so catchy that I even downloaded an mp3 for it. ^^ I also thought the animation for this show was pretty realistic. I thought the opening shot was in live-action at first. o.O Anyway, this is a pretty different type of anime from what I'm usually watching, but I'm already hooked on it. I can't wait to watch the rest of it.

The show DOES get dark. But at the same time, Gon's pretty much always his happy adorable innocent bouncy self. ^^

I'll post it for you but it'll be a day or so until I can port it into uni with me.

I'm a BIG fan of HxH but am more of a Hisoka fan (as you can probably tell by my avatar.

So far the Viz release doesn't seem too bad. They've even spelt Ging's name right which is a big plus.
It's important because the G is for Greed Island and it's an anagram of Nigg, which cause a hell of a lot of trouble for scanlators and subbers who used the Jin or Gin spellings
Does anyone know if it's possible to get the musical starring the seiyu? I've yet to find anyone hosting it so I've begun to lose hope of ever hearing Hisoka sing :(

My maid adores Hisouka too. xD
I luff his Arabic voice... suits him quite well, methinks. I've yet to hear his Japanese voice though. ;-;

His voice is fantastic during the series but for some reason goes higher in the GI Final OVA. It's still Takahashi Hiroki though but it sounds like he's had a throat infection (or been castrated). He voice has just the right level of perverted evil for Hisoka. He sounds at his best when he's letching over Gon.

At first I thought it was going to stay pretty twee, until Hisoka started killing. That change of pace was the hook for me. The later, York Shin City arc is the darkest in my opinion as G.I. is too bright and cheery (with a horrific first opening sequence!)

Aw, but I loved the cheeriness in the beginning. ^^'' It suits Gon's character. xD

We're watching that arc right now. ^^ Though... in the Arabic dub, Leerio got a new voice-actor which is too high-pitched for him. ._.;;
Gon's isn't as cute and young sounding as before, now he sounds like a young teenager. o_O;;

I haven't seen this series yet, but I have been reading manga translations online. :wink:

I bought the first two volumes of the manga, and enjoyed them very much.

Concerning the Sailor Moon picture...I saw one in the first volume between two of the last chapters.

Leerio's Arabic dub voice became MUCH better in like, two episodes later. Almost exactly like the old one. ^^
Gon still sounds too old, but cute. ^^ The laugh and 'oh's and 'hmm's still sound the same. ^^
