Being a big Inuyasha fan myself, I believe the show is so popular because like Sailor Moon, it is a fantasy show that so many people can relate to in one way or another. There are also so many characters that people can relate to in the show, and it seems that is another thing that holds people's interest. It could also be because Inuyasha was created by Rumiko Takahashi, and she was already well known for manga/anime such as Ranma.

And I found this on the TV Tome InuYasha page:

Today at Comic-Con, one of Viz's panelists said that word from the producers was that Inuyasha will be ending with episodes 166 and 167 (which will be aired as a double episode).

However, one should consider that this panelist, also claimed at last year's panel that "Inuyasha will end with episode 150 (which has come and gone) and the manga will reach it's conclusion in November of 2003 (and the manga is still running).

Another point to consider is that the current opening ("Angelus") contains scenes from the manga that have yet to be animated, and are scenes that the anime will not reach by episode 167 (the supposed ending).

And Lastly, since the anime is currently in the middle of an anime-only/canon (meaning, based of what's in the manga) filler arc. So why would they waste time doing both canon and anime-only filler stories that do nothing to help wrap up the plot?

I'm currently half watching Inuyasha and posting here ^_^.I hate to say it, but it seems like such a stupid show, for the same reasons Tiff mentioned. However, this is only the first episode I've seen, so I'll tune into a few more episodes so that I'm not jumping to conclusions after seeing only one episode. But I just think the idea of those demons eating humans is kind of stupid.

The last episode is disappointing

The group are in some trouble, Inuyasha uses a shard of the Shikon no Tama, can't seem to control the power, Kagome supports Inuyasha and gets acid burns...blah blah blah...Inuyasha is depressed that Kagome got hurt, Kagome is happy though...THE END....NARUKU DOESN'T DIE, NOTHING ENDS WITH KIKYO, AND THE ONLY REAL ACTION BETWEEN KAGOME AND INUYASHA WAS IN THE SECOND MOVIE!!!

sigh...oh well...supposedly Inuyasha OVAs are gonna come out and the manga will still go on...

Ok I have heard rumors that they will finish the Inuyasha series on OAV. The series stops at episode 167(i think ^^;;;) but it leaves it way to open. Not to mention the 4th movie.

And as far as the rumors, at this point that is all they are. I won't put too much credibility into them until I hear something definite.

Srry. ^^;;; Well I have seen all 167 eps and all the movies including the 4th one. They had better bring some OVAs to finish the series. The ending was way too open. If they finish the manga past the animes point that would be better than nothing I suppose.

And I don't mean to sound like a moderator here, but if you had read the other posts and knew much about the series other than what Adult Swim has shown, then you would know that the Inuyasha anime series has already ended, but the manga is still running. And there are rumors that the anime will be making a return, though they probably aren't true, so don't quote me on that.
