Go Nagai

Post by Umino » Tue Mar 01, 2005 11:39 pm

Go Nagai, creator of Devilman, Cutie Honey, Mazinger Z, Kekko Kamen, Deliquent in Drag, and many other titles.

What's your opinion on his works? I love 'em! I've only seen a few of his titles, Cutie Honey (every series so far), Mazinkaiser, Kekko Kamen, and Devilman Lady. So far, my favorite is (obiviousy) Cutie Honey, I loved the Shin OVA so much, I've bought most of the series on region 2. I only have a few of his comics, volumes 1-5 from Legend of An Angel: Cutie Honey, Cutie Honey 70's, and the first Devilman manga.

I really want to see the Devilman series (mainly the OVA) and Dao Mante. But I've heard the Devilman OVAs are dub-only (I prefer the original language on my anime DVDs, thank you) and Dao Mante is edited. I may pick the region 2 releases, but I don't really have the money at the time. (Plus, I want to get the rest of Cutie Honey) Although I do plan to pick up the Dynamic 'best of' DVD due the 21st of April.

-What's my opinion on Nagai Go's works?! I love'em! And I hope to see them all.

-So far all I've seen is Mazinkaiser,Iron Virgin Jun,New Cutey Honey, and only
part of Devil Man OVA.

-The first thing i saw was New Cutey Honey, and at the time I would only watch
things in English, I thought it sucked. I had also seen G Gundam and thought it
kinda sucked to.

-But, later "I experienced Nadesico", and came across japanhero.com, thees two
things sparked my interest in "Super Robot", and I needed to know more.
So after learning more about Super Robot and Nagai, I took a chance on Mazinkaizer.
That was it for me, all negative thoughts I had of Nagai and Super Robot were gone.

-Now I'm a big fan.

-Since every body ignored this thread before, I'd like to know why.

So you didn't like New Cutey Honey, if you don't mind me asking why?

Thanks for reviving the thread, nice to know someone knows who Go Nagai is. ^_^;

I know who Go Nagai is. I'm just not a huge fan of his work.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I guess I could have made that clearer.

I just didn't understand it so, I thought it sucked. But other things helped me to see what I was missing.

So, now I'm a big fan of every thing Nagai. My writing skills suck I hope thats clearer.

I also like Matsumoto Leiji. :)

What Matsumoto works have you seen? I personally want to see Galaxy Express 999, but so far I've only seen Interstella 5555.

Tiff- What series have you seen? Were there any that you did like?

Just Cutey Honey. I think it's cute and all, just not the type I got into a lot.

I've only seen one of Go Nagai's works, Shuten Doji: The Star Hand Kid. Knowing violent little me, I liked it of course. I liked the violence (just because... I'm different like that), and the part where the demon goes inside of a woman, in order to control her, up a certain part was kinda funny. >D

But much to my luck, I can't find it anywhere, anymore. ¬_¬
