Princess Tutu
Anyone around here checked this title out yet? It's one of my many mahou shoujo addictions, and ADV just released the first volume of it this week.
It's an excellent series, and I can't get enough of it. ADV did a really nice job with the dub, too, which was definitely a hard task (as the Japanese version for it was one of my favorites)

This tidbit from the AoD forums...
At least they're saying something about it, unlike KaliedoStar and SuperGALS...
Well...ADV's David Williams on the status of 'Princess Tutu'
Transcript by Fernando Gonzalez Jr
DAVID WILLIAMS:
Okay, PrincessTutu we did the first volume of it. We released that.
Then I got hit with a snag from the Japanese on the packaging of volume 2.
That one is on hold at the moment.
I don't know when we will get volume 2 out right now.
I do have copies of volume 2 that I have been, gone to a couple of conventions and shown in video rooms there for people.
So I am trying to keep it alive.
What will most likely happen, when we get this resolved and things are taken care of, what will most likely happen is we will redo the series from the start so that we can start putting the promotion back into it; and what not and re-jump start it. Because volume one's come, and by the time we get this resolved and it will have been out, there would be so much time between 1 and 2 that we would've lost a lot of people.
So we will probably start the series again with a new push behind it.
I would expect to see that somewhere in the near future but I don't really know when and I really couldn't give you any kind of a date or anything on.
At least they're saying something about it, unlike KaliedoStar and SuperGALS...

According to reports about Anime Expo, ADV announced that the problem with Tutu has been dealt with and Vol. 2 will be released in fall (late October or early November). So, that's good news in my mind, as long as they get all of Tutu out and don't hit any more snags like this. Everyone needs to check this series out.ahiru wrote:expecting to see it somewhere in the future..
is that really better than no news?

I was watching it on AnimeNetwork On Demand, but I get sick of waiting 2 weeks for a new episode, so I downloaded the subs. It's a great show. I highly recommend it.

Ikuko Ito, who's the original creator and character designer for Princess Tutu, also did a lot of work on Sailor Moon (and was chief animation director and character design for S and SuperS), so similarities in design might not just be coincidental in that case.rebelREBEL wrote:Thats where I started watching it too! I think its so beautiful-- and doesn't Mythos remind you of Elios? just a tad?
BTW, the official date for Princess Tutu Vol. 2 appears to be 11/29/2005 now. Can't wait to start collecting this one again. Love this series so much, and really looking foward to more of the dub.
Joe recently introduced me to this.
I adore it.
It's so cute, and yet so fucked up. XD I love how there's actual classical/ballet music in each episode, and I love the animation.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

And not only was the ending f***** up for Duck, they didn't even put her on the cover of the boxset. Rue's on it. How is the show called Princess Tutu and Princess Tutu isn't even on the cover of the boxset?Tiff wrote:Joe recently introduced me to this.

I just finished watching the ending. It's now in my top 3 animes =D I heard about it here, so thanks for mentioning it.
