Interstella 5555

I was wondering if anybody else had seen this yet, it's really good IMO.

Interstella 5555 is an anime that is unlike any other anime I have seen. It was created by Daft Punk (French electronic group of One More Time and Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger fame. *drools* I love them so much!) and Leiji Matsumoto (of Harlock Saga and Galaxy Express 999 fame). If you've seen any of Daft Punks animated music videos than you've seen part of the movie. The first 4 music videos make up the first part of the movie.

The story follows an alien music group that is kidnapped and mind controlled into fame and fortune on Earth. However, there are no words ever spoken. This film is comprised of animation, sound effects and a musical score (Daft Punks “Discovery” album). I usually would get very annoyed with this kind of film *glares at Triplets of Belleville *, but for some reason it worked in Interstella 5555. The story is so beautiful and the music is wicked. My favorite scene is when [spoiler]the band is taken into the warehouse. Their memories get erased and replaced with human type memories, they change their physical appearance, the mind control devices are put in, and the whole time “Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger” is playing.[/spoiler]

Ah. I love these videos. I saw the first four, way back when they aired on Toonami's midnight run (along with Gorillaz, and a song called 'hellbent'). Just about a month or so ago I bought the DVD.

I'm real glad the story ended, the fourth one didn't really end on such a good note..

Wow..I enjoy Daft Punk music videos, and always wondered what the story was behind those. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

managed to grab a copy of this recently, really enjoyed it.
