Has anyone else seen this show. Its starts out really sad but ends up with a happy ending. I cried so much during this show. Especially when:
It shows things about Ayu & Yuuichi's past. I couldn't stop crying after seeing Ayu's "death." I actually thought she had died. It was so sad. Then when they show her leaving for the "last" time. I was so happy when Yuuichi found out she was really alive and just in the hospital.
Here is a description from Anime News Network:
Changing schools is something Yuuchi is accustomed to, due to his parent’s profession, and with their recent venture to Africa, he is returning to his aunt’s house after 7 years. The time that has passed since his last visit has faded his memories of the people he knew, and the ties that bonded them to him, including his cousin Nayuki. Slowly those people, coincidently all being girls, find their way back to him. However, time has passed and things have happened in their own lives that sets the tone for the series. Secrets that are coming to surface, and memories that are returning to not only Yuuichi, but to those surrounding him. A very heartwarming tale that touches upon a spectrum of emotions, mystery, and the supernatural.
Yuuichi is a 16-17 year old boy who has lived with his parents for a while, but in order to go to the high school he goes to, he moves to his aunt's house, in a completely different town. The only thing he remembers is that he left that same town 7 years ago. Soon, Yuuichi finds himself entangled in a many problems. He barely remembers what he did with his cousin, Nayuki, and the relationship they had. Then, more and more people (all of them girls) come to Yuuichi with their own secrets of the past. Many of them eventually leave Yuuchi forever. A very touching anime, dealing with very true emotions.
I hope someone licenses this series soon.

Can't believe no one ever responded to this so I guess I will. Especially since your post there was a remake of the anime and all.
I haven't seen the first 13 ep anime yet nor have I played the game, but I very recently finished the 24 ep anime and I must say that I was extremely impressed. I don't generally throw around the word favourite very often, but it's one of if not my favourite anime I've ever watched. I don't generally cry very much if ever really and for most of this show I was on an emotional rollercoaster and cried several times. One of those times was ep 10 where I was pretty much bawling. I've never had an anime do that to me so it has to be noted if only for that.
I personally loved how despite its genre being harem it really wasn't like any harem anime I'd ever seen; it just so happened to be a story where there was 1 guy and a lot of girls (5 main and serveral supporting). What amazed me really was not only did they really flesh out every girl's story and how it related to Yuuichi, the protagonist, but they actually made me extremely attached to every one of them (which is what made ep 10 so heart-wrenching for me btw). Each girl was unique in so many ways, which for me was refreshing to say the least.
Another point of greatness is that Tomokazu Sugita voiced Yuuichi. He is very quickly becoming one of my favourite male seiyuu; the whole time I'm watching this I'm thinking "OMG Kyon
". Well, not really but he really made Yuuichi a very likable character. It's nice to have a male lead in a show like this who's not a total loser as well, as tends to happen unfortunately.
I don't usually go around telling people "you need to watch this," but I'll make an exception for this. If you haven't seen it, you really need to. I really think it is that good. And it's not just me, as an overall rule it is rated by most people as very good to excellent. You'll laugh and cry and most likely never forget the experience.
