I have always been wanting to read this, and none of the bookstores near me have it....anyway....I was spending the weekend at my brothers and he took me to the comic book store he always goes to. They only had the third book. I was wondering if somebody could tell me what happened in the first two books.
Thank you
Vampire Princess Miyu

That is actually my question too. They keep talking about more Miyu coming out and the stores never have them. Same with Vampire Yui. supposely up to volume 3 or so of that one is out but I've only seen volume 1.
I have seen copies of the first two books in regular book stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble. and every so often Zandu carries copies. So far I've gotten up to volume 4. found the forth volume in the international district in the Japanese bookstore. I'm so grateful for downtown seattle being divided like that.

Ironcat's manga are so overpriced you know. Who would pay $17.95 for manga with nothing special in it compared to Tokyopop's manga which is $9.99? Ironcat has officially announced it will shut down and sell the remaining manga at a different website: http://www.ironcat.com/
Well then, the best way to buy the manga is either through their future website (hopefully they'll have discounts on all of their products) or Ebay. You can also try Amazon as well as Froogle.
But if anybody can tell me a way to buy the same manga either in new or used (in good condition) at a cheap price? I did search using the above methods but the volumes I wanted were all $15-18.
I also tried Ebay but only selected volumes there. I wouldn't want to buy the Japanese version because I'd rather read something I can fully understand instead of just reading and looking at the pictures.
Any help is appreciated!

Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I have all the Shin Vampire Princess Miyu. That is the same Ranka. She seems to have control over dolls and marionettes. There are times when you'll see Ranka in various ones. Like, in the OVA, VMP and SVPM. But she's always the same.
As for the guy in the mask, he looks like he's Ranka's servant and his name is Aoi. the other guy is Ichirou, a shinma like Ranka. He's a little younger than her and she tends to treat him as a kid brother. Constantly teasing him and scoldling him when he does something wrong.

Then how come in Vol.2, the bonus story:
Ranka used fire (I think?) to seal off that marionette that used to work for Ranka? And I thought Ranka was returned to the darkness in the OVA episode 2?
I checked Ebay again but nobody seems to have the entire series.
I also noticed that there were 2 different covers for Ironcat's Vampire Princess Miyu Vol.1 Origins manga. The first one is the black cover with the ugly yellow "Miyu" text at the top. The second one is a very lovely cover with the original Japanese text and logo, this one:

Was there a re-release sometime? I swear I'll be making a website to set the records straight so people won't have confusion.

The world is VPM is very complex and hard to keep up with at times. Even Miyu herself slightly alters from the manga to the OVA and the TV series. Yet they are the exact same characters. In the manga series Ranka is of the Second layer (or Tier). She's not someone who is to be crossed and at the same time she seems to be an ally of Miyu's. In the OVA, the line seemed much harder to distinguish, if at all. Even Reiha seems to change personalities at times between the manga and the tv series. Fire seems to be a weapon of choice for several shinma. (Except for Reiha who prefers ice) It is also used for sending stray ones back to the dark. So far I haven't known any other method to do that.
it is also stated in volume three that SVPM takes place after volume one of the original. In a sense, it's a second story line that going on at the same time as volume two. in order it goes VPM volume 1, SVPM 1-5, VPM Vol. 2 and so on.
As per your other question: Yes, they did a rerelease of the series. Basically, just a quick cover change in order to keep up with the original overs that they started using in volume 3. I still have the old ugly covers for volumes 1 and 2, because i'm not spending out money just for a cover change. They did the same rerelease with 'My Codename is Charmer' but that was because they put the cover on backward. I still have that one because it's just so funny. The comicbook store that I bought it from asked me what the difference was because they couldn't figure it out why they were getting recalled and rereleased.
Basically, this series isn't exactly one that is easy to keep straight with the small details. Try to remember that the OVA is a world all it's own, in a sense. Characters are the same, but the story line is a little altered. Nevertheless, still highly enjoyable. (If anyone knows more on this, I'd appricate the help)

So are Ironcat's manga (with the nice covers) read from left to right (American style) or right to left (Asian style)? Also, through Kakinouchi Narumi's website, I found a major discovery:
http://www.aprildd.co.jp/~kakinouchi/
There is a PC and Playstation 2 game for Vampire Princess Yui:
http://www.generation-x.co.jp/soft/yui/pc/index.htm
(Please click on the Playstation 2 cover for some awesome anime images of Yui from the game!)
Here are the stats of the game that I managed to translate:
Title: Kyuuketsuki Yui ~Sen Ya Syo~
Genre: Visual Novel
Cost: 6800 yen (with tax)
Release Date: 7/18/03
Extra: B4-sized Poster
I'm not sure if the Windows version and PS2 version are the same, but there are 2 versions of the game. If anybody has more in-depth info like what you do in the game, please tell us! I'm just amazed at the lovely anime cel-colored imagesof Yui.
But no matter how many times I click, a larger version of the pic won't come up!!!
