Magic Knight Rayearth
I've read it before but the mangas weren't mine. Went to the mall yesterday though and got both series. My favorite characters are Hikaru and Guru Clef. I haven't seen the anime but two of my friends have and they didn't really care for it. Has anyone here seen the anime and what did you think of it?
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

I've seen all of the first season of the anime and most of the second season as well as the OVAs, but I still have a few more episodes of the tvseries left to watch. The first season was very poorly done, IMO. There were quite a bit of changes that were made to the storyline that I didn't really like and the ending isn't nearly as dramatic as the ending to the first story arc of the manga. The second season was a lot better with the inclusion of the new, original character Nova, although I do miss the part towards the end of the manga where we find out that
Mokona is God.
While the OVAs have a different feel from the tvseries, being more serious and depressing, they're still very good with really excellent animation as well as an exiciting storyline. Just don't expect it to be anything like the series when you're watching it. Personally, I liked the Rayearth manga better than the anime myself, but the anime is still worth checking out for the second season and the OVAs.

I've read both manga series and seen the OVAs, but I haven't checked out the anime yet. This is probably one of my favourite mangas by Clamp, I love the story, the humor in the first series and the art style (I think this is the best drawn manga they did.) I enjoyed the OVA, the animation was amazing, even though I prefer the original story, it was nice to see another take on the MKR plot.
I would like to check out the TV series, but the art style is putting me off. I think the OVA was much better at interpreting Apapa Mokona's drawing style, which is more round and flowing, than the kind of angular look the characters in the TV series have. *shrugs* I know, a pathetic reason, lol!

I own the manga, OVAs and both seasons. I love the artwork in all of it. Where I loved seeing the series animated, I was a little disappointed with the side stories. They just seemed to slow down the plot too much for me.
I liked the second season because it really developed the characters better. Although I could have done without Umi's attachement to Clef. that was just a bit much for me. But I did like Nova. She was an awesome addition. It really added some dimension.
The OVA was a bit more moody and violent than I had expected, but it was still a good story.
My one true regret is that they changed the ending in the anime. I loved how Makona had a much bigger and completely unexpected role in the manga. over all, I think the anime is really worth checking out. The songs are especially awesome.

I lost complete interest in this show after the third DVD. I just got sick of it. The characters were bland, I was tired of them trying to cram way too much into one series (the magical girls, the angst, the drama, the comedy, the mecha...the mecha really did it for me. It just didn't FIT) instead of working on character development. And I really hated Hikaru. Umi was about the only one I liked.
And god. Mokona. *shoots it* x_X

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
