Funi's website on FMA is up and running, and I must say, I like how it looks so far. From the video clips I saw, they're using the original music, and while I can't say I'm particularly fond of some of the voices (Ed's is good [plus I've met the actor], but I don't really like Al's, nor do I like the narrator in the trailer). And from what I remember of the fansubs I've seen, the dialogue is almost spot-on (or it was in the scenes that were available). I think this will definitely give me a reason to watch Adult Swim again, at least until the DVDs are out.

I also had a friend who got my to watch this. I haven't seen it all (fansubbed) but there were only a few more episode after to complete it. I love the story and the charaters...even a few "evil" ones. I just really hope that they don't change a whole lot.
Do not be afraid when reason gives way to passion...
This is probably a really stupid question, but is this at all related to "Full Metal Panic"? I skimmed the site, but I didn't see any thing referencing FMP. However, that could just be because FMP is not an anime on Cartoon Network.
Nothing sucks like a Jed-kun - The "sloganize" web site.

The two series are unrelated, unless they have the same production crew. I haven't seen FMP, but the Full Metal in FMA is because the alchemists all have little names, such as the Fire Alchemist or the Sewing Life Alchemist. Edward, the main character, has a metal arm and leg, so that may be why he's called "Full Metal."

I didn't see a topic about this anime already, but who likes this anime? I've seen the Adult Swim version and also the fansubbed version and I have to say, the dub isn't so bad, although I do prefer the subtitled version. I really like Al and I hope to finish downloading the whole series soon.

On a related note, I've found an "FMA Uncensored", if you will. If you want to know what Funimation changed (not that much, actually), go here

I just saw the first dubbed ep on cartoon network.
I enjoyed it, really. I've never seen the original show, so I can' tcompare the two...I really don't know much about the show, period. But I enjoyed the first episode. Most of the voices didn't irritate me at all, except for maybe Al's, but...it kind of made sense, becuase of who he is.
^^; and Kisu just had to explain to me what Alchemy is.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

That's cool to see other people getting into it! I have not seen the dub yet, so I want to ask, did they keep the original Japanese theme songs or did those get dubbed too like BSSM?Tiff wrote:I just saw the first dubbed ep on cartoon network.

Funimation is keeping most of the show intact. The original background music is there, the dialogue hasn't been changed extremely. But as the show comes on Adult Swim, we don't know if the TV dub does or doesn't have the original theme song. Adult Swim doesn't show opening themes.RoastedTwinkies wrote:That's cool to see other people getting into it! However, I have heard that on the DVDs, the dubs will contain the original themes.

I find that really weird and unusual. I haven't seen a single TV station that cut the opening theme of a TV show. Do the credits get cut also?ParaKiss_Groupie wrote:But as the show comes on Adult Swim, we don't know if the TV dub does or doesn't have the original theme song. AdultSwim cuts the opening for extra time. So they can make room for more commericals and their 'bump/card' thing they do. Yes, they do keep the endings to the shows, but they speed them up. The song plays normally, but the actual credits roll by quickly.RoastedTwinkies wrote: I find that really weird and unusual. And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

*Blink* I watched it last night, and they showed the opening.
o_O; It had the whole opening, with the Japanese song, and everything.

I've been watching it on Adult Swim since it came on, and I have become very fond of it. This anime has some of the best characters and plot that I have seen in an anime. They manage to have serious moments without letting them get boring, and the action scenes are nice and suspenseful. The humor is great to! The scene when Mustang said if he was in charge, all the women would have to wear short skirts, made me snort my tea. XD
The dub seems to be pretty good, merely based on the VA's acting ability. Certainly a lot better than many of the dubs I have seen. I don't find Al's voice to be annoying at all. The echo caused by the armor suit can make it a little hard to understand him when I have to keep the volume on the TV down (my mom is usually asleep in the next room when I watch [AS]), but that's just part of the character.
I would love to see the original. Alas, I cannot afford jack-shit... or regular shit, for that matter. ¬_¬;
