Urusei Yatsura

Post by missmarazzi » Sat Oct 25, 2003 8:26 am

Hi all, this is my second post on this forum.

Just for the record I'm 24, from the UK. :D

Urusei Yatsura - I'm currently collecting the movies on DVD, but can't seem to find the 2nd one anywhere. Does anyone know where I can buy it with switch? (region 1 DVD's not a problem)

Thanks

Manda x

Urusei Yatsura 2 : Beautiful Dreamer. Am I correct?

I own that. I bought mine from an online store called http://www.uln.com

I'm not sure what their international rates are. Someone on this forum that lives in the UK may know a good online business there that as it.

thats the one.

I've actually found it on the United Publications site (R1)

http://www.up1.co.uk/up.nsf so I'll guess I'll get it there. Read on Amazon that the subtitling was really bad, but not even sure If its the same edition.

No-one said being an otaku would be easy (or cheap)

nope, the subtitles aren't that good. All they did was use the exact script from the dubb, word for word, and used it for subtitling. ::shrugs:: it's ok. I only watch the dub anyhow.

I've got ONLY YOU (MVM edition) their subtitling seems pretty good (can't compare as I dont have a dub version & i don't know a lot of JP- a few phrases but thats it!) and I have LUM THE FOREVER & REMEMBER MY LOVE on order.

Might go for it as it seems to be the only edition avalible anywhere..

Thanks for yr help! :D

I think only "Beautiful Dreamer" is dubbed. I don't think they ever dubbed the rest of them and I can only find the other titles in la~ bootleg.
No problem, I just wish i could have been better help. ^^;

Where did you find Urusei Yasura: Only You ? I've been looking for it and having some trouble finding it anywhere. Glad you like the second movie. I prefer it dubbed. they actually did a good job with the VA. thanks.

Don't you hate when they do that? The Darkstalkers DVDs did that, it's why I never watched the Japanese track. The Disney/Miramax Miyazaki DVDs also have subtitles that are similar to the dub.

It's usually a sign they translated the dub rather well, or just didn't bother. I like an accurate translation, but I also like at least minor variance between the 2.

All of the movies are licensed in the US, but "Beautiful Dreamer" is licensed by CPM and all the others are licensed by AnimEigo, which is why only "Beautiful Dreamer" had a dub until recently. However, now that AnimEigo are finally getting round to releasing the Urusei Yatsura movies on DVD, they're dubbing them. Movie 1, bilingual, was released quite recently.

Anyway, for importing R1 DVDs, if you only have a Switch/Solo card I recommend Movietyme (www.movietyme.com), but the best prices you'll find are probably at DVD Pacific (www.dvdpacific.com).
