Gunslinger Girl

Post by Prons » Sat Sep 25, 2004 3:47 am

I searched and did not a find a thread about this already, so I will pop right in here.

Any way, for those who do not know, Gunslinger Girl is a Thirteen Episode Anime that is very recent.
It takes place mainly in Europe and is about an organization that takes young girls whom were severely injured and -repairs- them so they can do various odd jobs for the Government. The show has a very good art style and I find it a very pleasing display of character development and action.

(Note: It has been a while since I saw this show.. so if I got any of my information wrong, please tell me)

I just finished watching this anime a few weeks ago. Very abstract and lots of violence/blood but I liked it because it made you think a lot about how powerful the government can be and how appearances can be deceiving.

I'd be interested in views as I was wondering about this one. Sounds 'shooty' etc but people suggest it's more about the manipulation of the girls and how this affects them

Truth.

It's not so much a "shoot em up action anime", but moreso a very dramatic, psychological show. I adored what I saw of gunslinger girls, and was sorry I never got to finish all of it. The art and music were both breathtaking, and the character development very emotinoal.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Thanks for that. May not be one to grab the boyf immediately then, but he has his emotional moments. He wasn't enamoured with the first ep of 'Noir' although he may be off anime a bit generally - need another Witch Hunter Robin! (which I know will be another topic elsewhere).

Having known about this anime only by title for a while I've recently learned a few more details about it and intend to watch it in the future (I also read somewhere that there's a second series starting next year).
