Arina Tanemura's anime series
Is anybody here a fan of Arina Tanemura's anime series? The series she made are Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Full Moon wo Sagashite, and Time Stranger Kyoko. I've seen all of the Full Moon wo Sagashite anime and own two volumes of the manga. I also own all of the Time Stranger Kyoko manga. I've read some of the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne manga on the internet, and I plan on buying the anime
.
I loved Full Moon wo Sagashite (the anime). That is one of my favourite series of all time. I have some of the manga (haven't read any of it yet).
Overall, I enjoyed the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne anime (although the ending seemed kind of rushed ...). I've heard the manga ending was done better (I have it, but I haven't gotten around to reading it).
I've never heard of Time Stranger Kyoko. It looks like it's only a manga (there is apparently an OVA, but it was never released on TV). Maybe I'll check it out sometime, too, seeing how I enjoyed her other two series.

I loved Full Moon o Sagashite, and watched all of the anime. I read a few chapters of the manga, but it's really depressing compared ot the anime. And I'm not a fan of depressing manga (or ones with lost of angst in it, either, which Mitsuki herself seems to do for vritually half the manga from the chapter summaries I've read).
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne was the exact opposite. I gave up on the anime after four episodes, but read and loved every chapter of the manga. I can't wait for it to come out from DC Comics!

I have the first two volumes of the manga, but I'm not sure what they're saying because I can't read Japanese. But I have heard on Full Moon wo Sagashite websites that the manga is more sad and depressing. For example, Jonathan, who is really just a silly character in the anime, is a mean character in the manga that wants Mitsuki to die.Neo Dead Moon wrote:I loved Full Moon o Sagashite, and watched all of the anime. Well, I've read all of the 'Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne' manga, although I haven't seen the anime at all (I've seen a few pictures of it, that's all) I really enjoyed it and I thought the story was really beautiful with a lot of depth, especially for a magical girl series. The art is gorgeous as well. ^-^ I think my favourite character was Fin Fish. Not to spoil the story for anyone, but let's just say there's a lot more to her character than first appears.
I'm trying to read the 'Full Moon wo Sagashite' manga as well, but it's been quite hard for me to find to download (luckily someone is helping me ^-^) I've only read the first two chapters, but it looks really interesting and rather sad. The art is even more beautiful than 'Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne,' I think. Oh, and Meroko's (I think that's her name) outfit ROCKS! lol!
Ooh, I'll have to look out for this 'Time Stranger Kyoko' series. If it's by the same lady, I'm sure it's a good series. I really love the style she draws in. ^-^

Oh, I know exactly what you're getting at. ^^ She's my favorite KKJ character, too, in addition to Maron, Chiaki, and Access Time!doodlebuguk wrote:I think my favourite character was Fin Fish. Yes, that is her name.doodlebuguk wrote:Oh, and Meroko's (I think that's her name) outfit ROCKS! lol!
I also love the Full Moon o Sagashite manga, but I've only read several chapters of the first volume. Most of the time I download a volume of it there's something wrong. Can someone give me links to where I can get the rest? (By the way, I've tried Toriyama's World [don't have all the volumes up] and Selene Scans [can't download anything]).

Is it true the KKJ manga is getting an english release? That's really cool, I really hope they bring the Full Moon anime out over here, I'm really surprised it isn't licensed.
Oh, you're looking for a site to download from?
Try http://www.fullmoon.prv.pl/ The webmistress has got most of the early volumes uploaded, it's where I got most of mine from (but I haven't read yet, I want to read them in order)
You could also try http://syuura.com but I never had much luck downloading from there.
Worst comes to the worst, I can send the chapters if you want them, just PM me an e-mail address to send them to, but I'm afraid I don't have all of the manga at the moment.

Where did you hear about the KKJ manga being released in English? It would be really good if the manga was translated into English. Fans wouldn't have to read manga scans on the internet.doodlebuguk wrote:Is it true the KKJ manga is getting an english release? Well, doodlebuguk, I'm having a lot of luck with fullmoon.prv.pl downloading the last of the first volume so far. (Imagine, the FIRST VOLUME!! How pathetic!) Thank you for the help.
EDIT: I take that back. I was cut off in the middle of the download. I'll PM you whenever I can (sorry about that...).

I believe DC Comics announced it on their site. You can also try Google to find an article. The English title is Phantom Thief Jeanne, which doesn't quite have the same feel.Willow wrote:Where did you hear about the KKJ manga being released in English? Oh dear, "Phantom Thief Jeanne" doesn't sound that good... I would have thought "Divine Thief Jeanne" would have been better, it's closer to what the japanese name means. Oh well, as long as the translation is good, I don't really mind what they call the series.

It'll be nice to add Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne manga to my manga collection! I've been forced to read manga scans on the internet, but now I'll be able to read the actual manga! I wish they would keep the original title, but as long as it's the original manga, the title doesn't make a difference to me. Does anybody know when the manga will be released? I looked on the DC Comics website, and it didn't say when the manga is being released.Neo Dead Moon wrote:I believe DC Comics announced it on their site. You can also try Google to find an article. There doesn't seem to be an official release date for the KKJ manga ... it's only mentioned as being released at a later, unspecified date.
On a side-note, I did manage to find almost the entire Full Moon wo Sagashite manga series! Selene Scans and StarryHeaven are working on it jointly, and all they have left to do are Chapter 9 & Chapter 30 (30 is the last one).
You have to get them off of their IRC channel. I used Selene Scans - #[email protected]
By the way, MangaNews.net - http://www.manganews.net/ - is a good resource for finding scanlation-related information.
