I think that's just a difference, both IRL and in anime, about how lusty men and women act around unwilling potential partners. Stutty women (and I use the term in the nicest way possible) focus on the other person, dressing provocatively and trying to indicate that they're available in hopes of converting them. Perverted men internalize, figuring if they can't have the woman, they might as well fantasize about her.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Oh. Well, I meant, are there anime girls who break that? I was just curious, I mean. I know that it's unusual, otherwise I wouldn't have made a topic about it if there were lots of anime girls who, say, stole boys' underwear.
(Then again, there IS the Miyama-sensei or whoever she is on Magic User's Club who stole Takeo-kun's swimtrunks when they were kids... and Minako Aino and her fantasies.)

I'm assuming you meant to type "slutty".

But what about PERVERTED WOMEN? Why did you only label woman as slutty, and save the term "perverted" for men? Women are capable of being perverted, too. I myself am quite the pervert. I fantasize like crazy, and want what I can't have. And how does dressing provactively and flirting and playing hard to get make one a slut?! To be a slut means to have loose sex with multiple partners.

Your comparison really doesn't make any sense.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I didn't intend those words to be the focus of the post, but to set up the point. If you want it in simple terms, I'll restate: as I see it, more women are slutty than perverted, and vice versa for men. Which is not to say that women don't fantasize, or that men don't throw themselves at women, but that's a lot less visible than the reverse.

I remember in FLCL episode 4 all the women in that control room got really bad nosebleeds when Haruko pulled that guitar out of Naota's head and I still don't know why...

Oh, and Shikijo-sensei from Mahoromatic. As her fantasies make clear (and kind of creepy), she badly wants to have sex with Suguru... and she's a bitch, but that's not relevant.
"Tell my tale to those who ask... tell it truthfully, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence..." last words of Dinobot, "Code of Hero"
"Is that a poisonous elephant in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" ~another forum
"Monster! I''''m going to collide with you indefinitely as my limbs flail wildly about!" ~NPC, Dragon Warrior VII

That guitar was supposed to indicate something else. Think of the scene where Haruko hits the guy with the eyebrows, and only gets a little bump on the head. She says something alone the lines of "Typical. You've always been too small." Put those two together, and you have why all the girls had nosebleeds.

Though, I think I'd count Haruko as a pervert, too.

The guitar comment made me think of something. Nobody's mentioned Excel! Excel's pretty damn ecchi. When the j-rocker is in th enext room, playing his guitar, he has it positioned in an...interesting manner. She nosebleeds, I believe, and starts thinking dirty thoughts.

Also, Digiko from Digi Charat tends to think of two male characters as yaoi characters, and fantasizes about making a hentai manga about them.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Yeah, it always bothered me in society how women who act perverted in the slightest fashon are labled as sluts. But men can get away with it. And yeah dressing provocatively or showing a lot of skin... that doesn't make you a slut. Because dressing a certain way does NOT automatically mean the woman is promiscuous. I dress sexy, show a lot of skin, or whatever with what I wear on some occasions. now I'm not gonna go on about anything else right here my sex/love life, but this factor certainly does NOT make me a slut.

Plenty of men act on their desires rather than just fantasizing it. Just that society sets different standards for men and women. Why is it that it's a good thing when men in general have had sex with many woman but bad when woman does it? In general men get praised when ever they sleep with a lot of women. When women sleep with a lot of men, they're called dirty whores and such.

that double standard always gets to me. I know this was off topic so I'll delete it if it's a problem.

I COMPLETELY agree. That was the point I was trying to make. What backing is there that more women are "slutty" than perverted, and that more men are perverted than woman? Just becuase we're not as vocal about it (at least, some of us. I'm terribly vocal about my perverse nature) doesn't make us any less so. And I know much more men who sleep around loosely than women.

I can't speak as to what's true, but I'm talking about what's more visible. When men do something to act on their fantasies and try to bed the woman, they don't do it directly. A man can't just put on slutty clothes and throw himself at the woman, it's considered pushy or, at worst, sexual harassment. So he woos her and does nice things for her, and then we're out of the area of ecchi and into romance. Contrapositively, women's fantasies are more likely to concern aspects beyond the sexual than men's are. So in the context of ecchi, we get mostly men fantasizing and having nosebleeds, and women going after the man they want and getting him.

Look, I'd love to see some kind of Sadie Hawkins-ed up world where women have to romance men to get them to sleep with them and men can be sluts. But that's not the way it is, and if an anime portrays it so, it's a fantastic premise.

*Blink* Some men DO need to be romanced, and some men ARE sluts. That may not be the majority, but it DOES happen, quite often.

May I make a comment here? Any man who fantasizes about someone else is not a pervert: He's normal. What kind of world do we live in where if someone reveals anything sexual, s/he becomes a pervert? We need sex. It's a basic human function, and the only natural means of procreation.

As for the slut issue, I find more man sluts than women sluts. A slut is just someone who sleeps around. I find that men are more likely to sleep around openly. It's the people who are too shy to actually act on their desires that are labeled "perverts." Why don't we stop looking at things from a male/female point of view, and look at it from a people point of view?

Absolutely, 100%, agree. Fantasizing about someone doesn't make you a pervert. It's a normal human reaction, just like fantasizing about the same sex doesn't make you gay or bisexual. It's NORMAL. Perverse actions are just that: ACTIONS. If I were wearing sexy clothes, and a man on the street started making grinding motions at me, that would be perverted. If he admired my form discreetly...that's normal.

Oh, but I forget..am I a slut becuase I'm waering those sexy clothes? -_-

OK, but take the counter: a woman going up to a man and grinding. More than likely, the man isn't going to think her a pervert, he's going to take her home. You keep saying that female sluts aren't respected. Which may be true, but they get what they're aiming at: a lot of guys. It's a double whammy, disrespect and frustration, for the man who wants to sleep with lots of women, but can't because, even though he's just as slutty at heart as the grinding woman, can't display it as the woman can.

Look, please prove me wrong, because in large part that frustrated man-slut is I. But every time I've asked, "How can I sleep with lots of women," the answer comes back, "Don't try. That is the surest road to failure. Concentrate on long-term relationships." If a method exists, kindly let me know.

Or else, show me where a man with rampant fantasies is respected simply for not acting on them. Because from what I see, it's the man who reads a lot of pr0n and ogles women without going up to them who is called the loser, and the man who has a black book full of phone numbers who is respected.

Alright, guys, this has strewn a bit off-topic from the initial question at hand. If you want to continue discussion on the matter of what defines a "slut" or a "pervert", please take this to a new thread on the "Off-Topic" board and let's get back on track to listing and discussing "ecchi" females in anime.

I wonder, would Nabiki Tendo (Ranma 1/2) be considered to be a pervert for taking pictures of semi-naked Girl-Ranma (usually sleeping) and selling them to people, especially Kuno? I mean, she's basically selling pornography, especially since she does it without Ranma's consent! (I think she's done the same thing to her sister Akane, too)

In Perfect Blue, Mima's manager (I forget her name) turns out to be perverted, just like the guy who was stalking her. I should really rewatch this anime movie, since I haven't seen it in quite some time.

I think her motivation was entirely financial, unless you want to get Freudian and think that she chose that particular way of making money in response to some deep-seated incestuous and/or transgendered lust.

Yes, I know it is entirely financial, but what about people who sell that kind of stuff in real life? Aren't they at least stigmatized, if not arrested? (I don't know much about pornography laws)
