Courtney Love + manga + character designs by Ai Yazawa

Anthy's dream come true, aka Princess Ai.
A lot of you have probably seen the commercials on Adult Swim or heard about it on MTV news. Courtney Love, lead singer of grunge band Hole, has released a manga cocreated with DJ Milky, drawn by Kujiradou Misaho, and with character designs by Ai Yazawa of Paradise Kiss fame. It's a manga, not an anime, though the commercial is animated.
I'm tres über-excited about this manga since I adore Hole's music so much. It's neat to see an American musician in manga...

It looks interesting enough, and I love the character design...but I was disappointed to learn it wasn't an anime. The trailer had such beautiful animation, and I think I would have enjoyed it very much had it been an anime. But I'd still like to read the manga. The fact that courtney love helped make it is kind of odd, but neat all the same.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I would have too... it seems odd to make a fully-animated commercial for a manga. Perhaps Love&co would consider a series if the manga sells well enough.Tiff wrote:but I was disappointed to learn it wasn't an anime. The main character is supposedly Love's manga alter-ego.

I'm obviously super-excited about this. Anything that Ai Yazawa has a hand in sends me into a fangirl state. While I may not be Courtney Love's biggest fan (love her music, not exactly fond of her behaviour), I think this will be good. And with luck, it might get animated. It would be nice to see.

I bought the first volume during my summer break. It's a good story, the dialouge is so so, and the pacing is a little slow, but the art... OMG!!! I want to live IN this manga, it's soooooo freaking gorgious! The art would carry it even if the characters never spoke IMO. But back to the story, I think that it's gonna pick up and start moving a little bit faster, but even if it dosn't it's only 3 volumes long so it's not like I'm breaking the bank to try it out. The plot is good and it isn't entirley predictable so it was pretty easy to read especially since it left enough mysteries open at the end of volume 1 for me to want more.

Does Courtney Love actually have a say in the story line and stuff, or is it just her putting her name on it and taking the credit. Because it'd be kind of neat to see a story made up by Courtney Love.
Peachvampiress has an account on DeviantArt. Insanity Within.
And a Myspace account for her clothing designs.

I'm pretty sure that she has a say in the story to some degree, but I'm not sure how much.

She created the main character, and the original concept for the story. So, while she is responsible for it, DJ Milky is, I think, the main story person.peachvampiress wrote:Does Courtney Love actually have a say in the story line and stuff, or is it just her putting her name on it and taking the credit.
