Here are two things I'd recommend you tell/show your friend:
1) Show and tell him or her about the Sailor V manga, there is probably some place online where it can be found, and the site may be in Japanese if need be. Show him or her directly that Sailor V, the manga that Sailor Moon was based off of/a big spinoff from is not a hentai.

2) And you can tell him or her that yes, it is true that AFTER Sailor Moon came out, there were two hentai shows made that parodied Sailor Moon. They are called "Venus 5" and "Sailor and the 7 Balls." Also, show your friend some proof that they came out later, like maybe finding the release dates somewhere.

And if your friend really doesn't believe you, then there's probably a problem between you two that I can't fix without knowing you personally.

He is not my friend, just someone who said "oh, someone else who likes anime, let's talk!". I told him of Sailor V, and he said that that was the manga he was talking about.

What he was claiming was that some Japanese guy had a website that had some clips from his manga that Naoko supposedly "ripped off".
This acquaintance also didn't provide me with the URL when I asked for it.

Hmm, then you might have a harder time convincing him if he's not your friend. And if he doesn't listen to you, then that's his problem if he wants to think that Naoko ripped off someone else's hentai to make Sailor Moon. Some people will say just anything to get attention.

A similar incedent happened to me at the GJ forums (before I stopped going there). Someone said, "Sailormoon's original concept for the anime was suposed to be a hentai, but changed their plans and edited it before airing". Many Sailormoon fans countered, including myself and I was the loudest asking for proof. I can't clearly remember His/Her response, but it was to the tune of us being ignorant and unwilling to hear "the truth about Sailormoon" and left never responded to that topic again.
S/He still didn't back that stupid rumor with an ounce of proof. Only that you could see Makoto's rear at the end of her transformation and in (crap I can't remember his name for the life of me. Dubb name: Greg) saw Mercury/Ami's sailor suit being shredded in a premonition. I guess certain levels of perversion is in the eye of the beholder.


Getting back on track and on topic. If they don't provide vaild proof of said idea-theft, than either your aquaintance is clinging on to misinformation as if it were the truth (which has been known to happen) or, as Rainbow said, they are doing it for some form of attention.

another thing to add, if you happen to have copies of the manga, either the mixx, or the old or new additions of the Japanese manga, show your friend the year of copyright. In the mixx manga, you will find this within the first page or so and in the Japanese manga, you'll find this at the back of the book (what we know as the front, if that makes sense. Japanese read from right to left, so their books will be in reverse). Then try to track down a copyright year for the hentai animes. I don't know the year, but we all know they were produced AFTER Naoko-sensei released her work.

If you go to Amazon.com and type in Sailor Moon under books, you can get samples of the first few pages on the manga and it has the page with the copyright date I think ^_^.

Anyhow, don't expect a response any time soon. Soccer moms/dads (a term used in the States to represent grossly overprotective parents - dunno if there's an equivalent in Europe) are quite prevelant in today's society, and tend to be stubborn to a fault when it comes to their opinions on "offensive" material ><
