It was discussed a lot at the PGSM community at Live Journal, so I've decided to bring it up here. I made this a seperate thread because this topic has to do with the future of the show, rather than the episodes themselves.
Traditionally in Japan, idols are nothing that special. They come and go all the time. Often in TV shows, every time a new season begins, a new cast is made to go along with that. It is also uncertain as to whether or not there will be any more PGSM after this season is over. Apparently, the show isn't doing too well in Japan and DVDs for the show were released sooner than I expected. Perhaps, Toei released them because they didn't expect the show to do that well when it reruns? Am I wrong? What do you guys think of another cast doing the show in it's next season if there is one? Do you think there will be another season? What do you guys think?
Personally, I've grown attached to the existing cast. PGSM would not be the same if they hired a new cast. I don't want to see another cast and see the show go the way the North American Power Rangers went. I'm hoping there will be another season, I hope the show finishes right up until the end of Sailor Stars.
What are your thoughts?
The future of PGSM.

My understanding is that while the ratings might not be earth-shattering, merchandise sales are doing well and the show is quite profitable. I haven't heard whether this translates into a potential second season, and have no idea where to get that information. I guess we just tune in on week 53 and hope.
As to keeping the cast, I can understand why a production company doesn't want to have the same people come back and make them big stars, who then become so associated with the characters that they can demand more money and considerations. Especially when they can just throw out another open casting call. If a second season is made and the cast reshuffled I doubt it would make a big qualitative difference to the show. Some actors would probably do better than the current ones, and some would do worse. It's not like a new cast is going to erase my memory of the members of the current cast I like.
To me the real star of the show is the writing. They've taken the general structure of the manga and anime and changed all the details to make nice stories. They could probably do the same with the R series or any of the others. Or maybe they could come up with an entirely new story. If the quality holds and the writers continue to come up with scripts that the cast they do have can handle, then the makeup of the cast isn't really going to make a difference to my enjoyment of the show.

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I was reading something today on prettyguardian.com about how one of the actresses was threatened and couldn't appear at a public show with the rest of the cast. If that's the case, then PGSM might not last long. Does anyone know exactly what happened?
Peachvampiress has an account on DeviantArt. Insanity Within.
And a Myspace account for her clothing designs.

Well, I read that article on Genvid as well, and it was Keiko who was threatened. It seems to have been so hard that the author of the article couldn't even copy/paste part of the offensive message. The author of the article on Genvid just says "They took the threat really seriously" and "The message was horrible" , something like that.
As for myself, I couldn't see PGSM with another cast, depending on what they do. I mean, Sawai Miyuu is so cute as Usagi, I couldn't see her leave.
The one who'll probably leave first would be Komatsu Ayaka, though. So says the same Genvid article (which is veryyyyyyy long but interesting). She has started a kind of modeling career... and... well, if you head to the same Genvid article (I know it's long lol) you'll have a link to a Genvid forums thread... and you'll be scared. I'll say she's cute but she didn't need to do THAT T_T . You'll understand if you go look, unless you want me to show you the pics directly.
So maybe it's good that PGSM is just "one season" of 52 eps, and maybe we could have OVA (OAV ? damn, don't remember the order lol) of the anime, or anything new that can keep the Sailor Moon universe fresh

I'm hoping that the cast stays the same if there is a second season. I can't see anyone else playing the parts of the Sailor Senshi, but then again the same thing is done with the Sera-Myu's. I think I would enjoy another season if one is made.
