What about ADV? Sure, their releases weren't that good, but if they could make a dub, I would be very pleased, I mean, they do happen to make some excellent anime dubs.

I'd have to agree with what many people have said. I'd say, don't switch companies, but change the time period of which it was dubbed. If Sailor Moon was dubbed today, I don't think the dub would be that bad. I'd say that it would have been a great dub it it was dubbed today.

You know what? Then don't post at all.

Quite frankly, if you want to sit here and whine about how people are "against you", then leave. It's obviously a cry for attention, and this is not the place for that. It is completely pointless to bring something up, and then state that you refuse to go further with it becuase the big, bad evil members of the forum will lynch you for it. Grow up, or get out.

Thanks, Tiff. If someone disagrees with me, I'd like to at least see their side of the fence instead of being jumped on without an explanation.

*grabs the thread and pulls it back on-topic*

I'd really like to see what Bandai's dubbing team could have done with Sailor Moon. They've done some excellent dubs in the past few years - Gundam Wing, the various .hack series, and Cowboy Bebop, to name a few - and I'd like to have seen them have a go at Sailor Moon. I think they could have done a very good job of dubbing it and still having it be TV-ready - when Gundam Wing first came out, it was airing faster than Bandai was getting the DVDs out.

Admittedly, GW first aired late at night (10 or 11 PM during its first run, IIRC), but it did have a run on Toonami before it was finished, so I don't think Bandai would have had a problem making Sailor Moon TV-friendly.

....er, not really. i don't even recall stating that this was the forum i was talking about. also i'm most certainly not crying for attention, i don't need attention through text. the reason i said that is if i hadn't stated why i wouldn't say more then there would most likely be someone to ask me why. also, i really didn't feel like sitting and thinking of all the dubs i don't like at the time. whatever...

i would say the company i would choose to dub sailormoon would be whoever dubbed cowboy bebop (can't think of the name). i think this would be a good choice because i know the script would then be handled respectfully. with the dub of cowboy bebop, there were actually some improvements made to the script in some cases. i also think the character's would most likely be suited with appropriate voices. i actually prefer the dub of cowboy bebop over the japanese version (and as far as i'm concerned that's a very, very great achievment), and if they handled sailormoon then the result may very well be the same. as far as the voices i would pick... who knows. i'll think on it.

There was pretty much no reason for this post. I do agree there are plenty of bad dubs, but not bringing up any points to follow that comment up with and doing so in such a poor manner, refusing to follow up because you feel everyone is against you, there was really no need to even make this post. It doesn't even really add anything to the discussion since the thread is about talking about who we think would do a good job with the dubbing of the show today, not bashing various dubs of today. Now if you had wanted to post on how you disagree with ones choices and why and such, that would've been more meaningful.

Even though you did not state that this was the forum you were talking about, (a) how are we to know that and (b) why does it matter bringing up such things? I don't know what other forums you go to nor how they are run, but in this forum while many people may have different opinions and such on various things, no one is really against each other unless they bring it upon themselves with their attitides. We all get along here well no matter how much we disagree on various things, but it's posts like yours when problems start, and you're walking on thin ice with the attitude you're showing today. If you don't feel like defending your points, then don't mention them at all. There is no point to posting points if they don't get backed up by anything. These forums are for discussion, not whining or crying for attention (yes, that comment was a cry for attention which has appeared to work well) and such. Make points and follow up on them, and if you feel you can't do this for whatever reason or have to act rudely in such respect, then this forum is not the place for you to be.

Eh, this kinda bugged me so I have to correct this, sorry for remaning OT. ^^;;;

Actually, Gundam Wing had a double premiere on Toonami when it started airing in March 2000. It aired in the weekday Toonami block with the edited dub, and in Toonami's Midnight Run on weeknights uncut.

Now minna, back on topic please.

I don't mean to jump down your throat or anything, but Bebop was clearly mentioned to be dubbed by Bandai in the post right above yours.

Whoops - you're right. I'd forgotten that it aired on Toonami while it was airing Midnight Run, too - for some reason I had it in my head that it aired on Toonami only after Cartoon Network ended Midnight Run.

That's another point towards Bandai being a good choice to dub Sailor Moon, though - the fact they managed to pull off two dubs of a series. That speaks well of them.

Oh, and don't double-post. You might not read posts in any particular order, but you DO have to follow the rules of this board, one of which says that if you have comments to make so soon after your last post, to just edit the first one and post your new thoughts there.

i'm sure you don't care, but i actually can explain that one. i needed to quote marioknight. i tried to edit, but there were no past post at the bottom of the page. i don't know how to make quotes myself so i had to click the quote tag on the top of his post. anyway, i'm sure people are tired of hearing from me for now, so i'm done.

Okay. You've done it to yourself.

You are being officially warned. In this thread alone, you have managed to be rude to three different mods. Being rude to ANYBODY isn't tolerated, but being rude three times to three different mods is a complete no-no.

I suggest you calm your attitude down, or you'll find yourself out of here.

Been a while since I've posted, but I managed to come up with my ideal FUNimation cast list as to who I could see playing the girls. I'd actually like to see FUNi dub the last season (and possibly redub the first four) if Toei ever grants the licenses to them. Until then, here's my list..By the way,I've actually listened to (most of) these VA's voices from the different anime they've done, so I just came up with this after that. Some of the choices might seem a bit odd..

Usagi/Sailormoon- Laura Bailey

Ami/Sailormercury- Amber Cotton

Rei/Sailormars- Cynthia Cranz

Makoto/Sailorjupiter, Queen Beryl - Meredith McCoy

Minako/Sailorvenus- Tiffany Vollmer

Shingo-Stephanie Nadolny

Queen Metallia- Linda Young

Luna- Monika Antonelli

Naru- Kara Edwards

Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask- Chuck Huber

Artemis- Sonny Strait

*sweatdrop* And that's about all I can think of..
