Usagi's dreams

Sailor Moon.. the anime/manga we've come to know and love. Recently, when I thought about what I wanted to do with my life, I thought about what the sailor senshi wanted to do with theirs.

Ami wants to become a doctor just like her mother.
Rei wants to become head pristess of her shrine.
Makoto wants to own a flower shop or restaurant.
Finally, Minako wants to become an idol.

When I thought about it, I realized that it wasn't clear as to what Usagi wanted to do. All she ever does is eat, sleep, read manga and play video games. What are your ideas as to what Usagi wants to do with her life? (If there is evidence to support what Usagi wants to do with her life, please state where to find that evidence.)

I think it is said somewhere that Usagi's dream is to be a bride. Although I'd think that with having to fight evil while leading a team of eight and then being Queen of the Earth, she either doesn't have any other career goals or knows that she won't have time for them.

That was my guess on it, but I wasn't sure. Any ideas as to what she wants to do career-wise?

I think all the girls dream of having a family, and in the cases of Rei and particularly Makoto, that dream might trump their dreams of career or accomplishment.

But for Usagi, I don't think at 14 she knew what her dream was, and at 14 you don't have to know. Over the couple of years of the series, her dream crystalized into what she was destined to be--a fighter, a queen, and a wife, and of course this last manifested itself in the form of her beloved Mamoru.

The question then to ask is what would be her dreams outside from the amazing things that happen to her, and I think that she would eventually find something that she would get deep into--Usagi has the capacity for deep commitment. What it would be, it's hard to say. She might have found music like when she wanted to learn the violin, or she might have become a manga artist or an animator over at Studio Dive.

Because she hates study, I can't see her becoming anything at all analytical--she's never going to be a computer programmer or an accountant! No, Usagi would want to create in some way, to express all the love in her heart. Which might mean giving over to her maternal instincts and giving all her love to her children. Whatever she wound up doing, she would have been good at, not great, because in mundane positions you need both creative ebullience and analytical dispassion. And that's why becoming Sailor Moon and Princess Serenity was the perfect dream for her after all--because her power there comes from her purity.

Sorry for going off-topic, but isn't Rei's dream to become a superstar of some sort? It's been a while since I've seen Supers, so I could be wrong. Usagi definetly dreams of becoming a bride, but if she was to choose a career, I can imagine her being a star athelitic marathon racer. She already runs like heck to school everyday and she expressed interest in joining the track team in that one episode of the S season, so why not? Which makes me wonder she didn't join when she finally got to high school in Sailor Stars...

Hmm I'm not sure if Rei wants to be an idol like Minako, I also thought that Rei wanted to be a high priestess or something like that.

What are the outers?

Setsuna - Fashion designer.

Haruka - Professional racer

Michiru - Professional violinist (Although I think she already is! ^.^;)

Hotaru - Doctor? Or am I wrong..>.>

And of course Chibi-Usa to become a lady, but I'm sure she doesn't have to work since she's got it made lol

Well in one of the Sailor Moon R episode's where there was a "create your own wedding dress" competition, she tries her best to enter for it and i'm sure she does say something about her wanting to be a future bride with Mamoru.

In the back of tankouben 10 it shows all the Sailor Senshi's stats, and it says under her stats "Dream: Bride", so I'm definantly assuming her dream is to become a bride.

For what she'd like to do outside her already said duties, I think she'd probably like a job as a manga artist if she ever got better at drawing.

I find it strange that we're debating something that's stated in the show. As YoshMaster5 said...her dream is to marry Mamoru and be a bride, basically.

What is there left to debate??

Actually anime Rei said her real dream was to be a business woman travelling around the world and a bride. She said she would be "mysterious shrine girl" for the time being. This is from that SuperS episode where she uses Mars Flame Sniper for the first time. And manga Rei always figured that she would stay at the shrine and become the head priestess, but she wasn't sure of what she really wanted.

In the S episode where her pure heart gets taken, however, she tells Usagi:

"My dream is to be head priestess, singer-song writer, model, seiyuu...AH! USAGI! Don't make me say a wife to my beloved, too! *blush!*"

So I think it's safe to say she wants to be all of the above.

Although i'm still wondering why we're debating it o_O;

I think the reason for the confusion, at least in the case of Usagi, is that while the other girls have their ambitions explained strongly in the show, the dream of being a bride is percieved (not particularly accurately) to be a "default" dream for a young girl. So the show doesn't out-and-out say it as often as it does with Ami's doctor dreams or Minako's idol dreams, and viewers might not realize it as they would the others.

That episode actually happened in the Sailor Moon Classic series.

But i'm quite positive that somewhere, it DOES say it...so what does it matter if it's not repeated 500 times?

In the English Sailor Moon Super S manga, Vol 3, Bunny states ( or dreams?)..."my dream is to live happily ever after in a pretty house with flowers, with the love of my life, and our child." So, I agree with Sailorasteroid, that Usagi would probably be most usefull as a mother.

I agree with the entire thing about Usagi wanting to be a bride for Mamoru, and be a good wife, but I also recall her saying once that she wanted to make good soup for him...Or something along those lines. O.o; Sorry, I forget what that's from, but I do remember her saying something about wanting to make good soup for him.

I'm not sure, I think that might have been in the first part of R. (It's been a long time since I've watched) and I know the dialoge went something like this.
Usagi: I want to make soup for him!
