Sailor Moon Songs

Post by Celexa » Sun Oct 19, 2003 9:40 pm

What are your top five favorite and top five leas favorite Sailor Moon songs? And why? Only one dub per category!

I'm editing my post as of July 20th 2004 to change my favorite songs ^^

FAVORITE:

1. Ginga Ichi Mibun Chigai na Ka
2. Kirari*Sailor Dream
3. Prince of the Earth (Full Version)
4. Konoko Doukara Yawa Umarenai
5. Nagareboshi He

WHY:

1. I love the way Seiya sings this one, especially the "Kiiito giingaa ichi mibu-un chigai na kata omoi da neeeee ...."
2. I've really gotten to love this one. I just love that "Love beam special attack!" line
3. I love that kawaii little "I'm the princess!" from Usagi
4. It's so sad and sweet...now if only Chibiusa could improve her singing a little...
5. It's so sad yet calm at the same time @[email protected]

LEAST FAVORITE:

1. I Wanna Be A Star
2. Ai no Energy wo Ubae
3. Tsuki iro no Syndicate
4. Itsuari no Forever More
5. Heart Moving

WHY

1. Can we say "cheesy"?
2. Whenever I hear this, I could swear the Dark Kingdom is out to get me @[email protected]
3. I dunno why, kinda reminds me of the Love Hina theme song chopped up and served in a mess.....
4. If only the phony Zoicite knew how to sing...-_-;; And it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz Munchkin song. And that's bad.
5. It's too....blah for me.

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

1. Ai no Senshi - It just has this inspirational sound to it.
2. Moonlight Densetsu - Everything you'd look for in an opening theme. The S version is the best.
3. Rashiku Ikimashou - SuperS may be the weakest season, but it has the best closing theme. So cute.
4. Otomte no Policy - Second best closing theme.
5. Moon Revenge/Moonlight Destiny - I can't choose but they're bith great movie songs.

Least favorite: The Dic opening theme (The one named Sailor Moon). It's everything you'd expect from a crappy theme song to an American cartoon, and whoever wrote clearly never watched the show if he thinks Sailor Moon never runs from a fight.

FAVORITE

1. Ai no Senshi
2. Moon Revenge
3. Sailor Star Song
4. Tuxedo Mirage
5. Morning Moon de Aimashou

REASONS:

1. I love the drum beats in the beginning and it's got so much energy put into it! I have never heard the dubbed version though.
2. Can't help but like it! :D
3. I only like the full version. How it starts out without much music is pretty cool and it gives me a calming feeling.
4. Again, very calm and ethereal.
5. It's very upbeat and I loved it when they used this as the background music in the SuperS movie scene! Touching!

LEAST FAVORITES:

1. She's Got The Power
2. Luna!
3. Hottokenai Yo!

REASON:

1. Will it stop repeating the same thing!? ARGH! I can't believe they'd use this in place of Ai no Senshi in the dub!!! Why couldn't they use the dubbed verison of the song?
2. It sounds too kiddy-ish for my taste. :?
3. It has a weird melody but I did like the part where they shout their henshin phrases. :P

Sorry, I only have 3 dislikes. Sailormoon songs are just too good!

Wasn't She's Got The Power Stan Bush's contribution? He also did that "song" from Transformers The Touch. A sappy BS song from what was basically a 2 hour toy commercial. His "contribution" to SM wasn't any better. I guess someone wanted SOMETHING on the soundtrack that wasn't sung by one of their female vocalists.

Though there were a number of songs from the US soundtrack that always sounded a bit iffy to me. I Wanna Be a Star was one of my least favorites, it really didn't add anything. Nevermind I absolutely hate the US theme worse than I hate that hideous Stan Bush song.

My favories are pretty much most of the Japanese stuff. though I have to give points to Oh Starry Night since it was a rather decent translation of its Japanese counterpart.

edit- BBCode was turned off for some reason

Now that you mention it, I did like Oh Starry Night and Rainy Day Man. The second one has got good melody, only the lyrics are weird. What the heck is a "rainy day man"? :?

How come your BBCode doesn't work for me? It used to. testtest Mine works...

Probably because the dubbed version of Ai no Senshi didn't exist when Dic dubbed it. It was only used in the Cloverway dub. I guess Dic could have tried to dub it themselves, but they took the tune of Moonlight Dentetsu and turned it into that one named Sailor Moon song, so I doubt there dub would have been any better.

Favorites (in no particular order, and yes, I know I have six, I had to add them all):
Seiya's Image Song (I like the tune and the way its sung, but I don't like what Seiya's saying in it...grrrr...stay away from Usagi, Seiya!)
Taiki's Image Song (I like this one too and it's the only one of the Starlights' image songs I can sing if I have the lyrics, I also don't mind Taiki's message...duh, what would you expect from a Taiki fan)
Chasin' After You (I like it because...I'm not sure why. I usually like the peppy songs)
Sanji no Yosei (It's so cute and I can sing it, too)
Bai Bai Tte Itte (is that how it's spelled?) (This one is another one I love for being cute, and I like the country music parts...also it's a song for my favorite Senshi, Chibi-Usa-sama)
Japanese Theme Song 1 (not Sailor Star Song) (not sure what to say about this one, really)

Least Favorites:
All I can say is I don't usually like the slow songs as much. Chikara o Awasete and Yaten's song are the only slower songs I really like.

Given the fact that the only Dub Song I remotely care for is "My Only Love", I'm not going to bother including dub songs.
Favorites:
1. Moonlight Dentsetsu - I love the beat, the song, the lyrics...it's just awesome. It's the original song, and I will always love it.
2. Golden Queen Galaxia - Galaxia's voice is beyond comparison, and her singing is even more intense. I get the chills everytime I hear this song. I also love the Orgel version.
3. Moon Revenge - I love how each of the senshi sing in this, and the beat is just great. I never get tired of singing this.
4. Rashiku Ikimasho (sp?) - So damn cute. "La la la Nevah Give Up, Gan Bara Wa!!" *_*
5. Sailor Team no Theme - Very intense, and yet cute at the same time.

Least Favorites (I don't have a lot, so this is really hard x_x;):
1. Kaze Ni Naratai - *shudder* I love Haruka's voice actress, but my god, the woman cannot sing a ballad to save her life. She can sing a great hard rock song (I have a few), but she cannot sing slow ballads. Blah.
2. Princess Moon - it's not horrid, but it can get REALLY old after a while, and it's kinda plain.
3. Morning Moon - Eh. It doesn't do anything for me.
4. You Are Just My Love - Mamoru's singing is a bit..odd..o_O;
5. Uranus and Neptune: Sera Myu - I don't know if that's the real name, but that's the MP3 name for it..it's just annoying.

I'm going to include background music, becuase I love background music XD but i'll only include my favorites:
1. Seiya's Love - the gorgeous music thatp lays when Seiya says "Am I Not Enough" to Usagi*sniff*
2. Luna - the music that plays throughout the S Movie. So lovely.
3. For the Princess - a low version of Sailor Stars Theme done on Violin..it's played throughout stars too
4. Orgel Golden Queen Galaxia - *_* Yum..
5. The music that plays when Haruka and Michiru hold hands in S. too bad you can't get it anywhere T_T

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I love the music of Sailormoon.

1. Onaji Namida wo Wakeatte. I'd even go as far as to say that this is my favourite song ever. The music itself is great, but it's Aya-san's vocals that drive it. Added to the powerful episode where it's played, and...

2. Moonlight Densetsu. This classic song. I prefer the Moon Lips version, but the long DALI version brings back memories of episode 46.

3. You're Just My Love. I love all of this song. Period.

5. Route Venus. This song simply screams Minako. And as she's my favourite character, I think I have a right to like a song that simply screams Minako. ^_~

Other good songs I have to mention:
- Only A Memory Away
- Sailor Team no Theme
- Ai no Megami no How To Love
- Flame Sniper
- Unmei wa Utsukushiku

SONGS I DISLIKE:

1. Sailor Moon Theme. Bastard child of Moonlight Densetsu. Irg.

2. "Rashiku" Ikimasho. This song is too annoying and disco-ey for me. I much prefer Watashitachi ni Naritakute.

3. Ai Kotoba wa 'Moon Prism Power, Make Up!' I used to like this song. Now, it just annoys the hell out of me.

4. Let's Meet In the Morning Moon. I just don't like it. Pretty Cast cannot sing.

5. Starlight ni Kisu Shite. This song bugs me for some reason. I can't put my finger on it, but I just don't like it. I'm not a big fan of Makoto's image songs, but I can actually stand the others.
"Come on, you can do better than that!"- Famous last words.

Favorites:

1. Moon Revenge- I can't help but love this song. It's especially good when watching it in the movie, but on its own it's good too.

2. Rashiku Ikimasho- So catchy and addicting.

3. Ai no Senshi- Very... I don't know... dramatic???

4. Tuxedo Mirage- Easy on the ears, good for those quiet times.

5. Moonlight Densetsu- Both versions. I just like it, for no good reason.

Least Favorite-

1. She's got the power- Just so wrong.

2. Luna!- Ehhh....

3. Dub theme- Terrible. "She is the one on whom we can depend"??

4. Sailor Stars Theme- I know a lot of people like it, but I HATE it. I think the voices are just straining too hard to go high in parts.

That's about it. Generally, I love the songs.

I actually liked a lot of the Dub songs, especially My Only Love, which I actually like better than the Japanese song used in the same scene... what was it called? Mysterious Silver Crystal or something? Anyway, I thought My Only Love was much more dramatic for that scene.
I am a loser!

Wait, I need to change one of mine. I got the SuperS closing themes confused. I meant to put Watashi-tachi ni Naritakute instead of Rashiku Ikimasho. I still like that one, but Watashi-tachi is better.

o_O; wow, it seems quite a few people don't like "Luna!". Derek and I love it. I think it's adorable. Especially when she goes "Nyaaoo!" in the middle of the song, and all the senshi go "LUNA!". ah, well.

I have to add Who Do You Think You Are? to that list. Was this even used in the show? It was irritating.

I guess Luna also goes on my list of poor songs, despite being a Japanese song. It... well, it does seem a bit pointless for some reason.

My favorite instrumentals from the Japanese albums though are the outers transformation/violin and piano medley and the Amazon Trio bar theme.

1. SuperS second ending.
2. Stars Beginning
3. Moonlight Destiny
4. Outer's theme
5. Starlight's other song. *not Shooting Star. the other one*

Why?
1. Awsome... kawaii!
2. Awsome again... cheery.
3. Who can NOT love this one?
4. Sweetness... 8)
5. It just has a good beat and nice lyrics... *shrugs*

Least favs: I'll just say: All Dub-only songs.
-Adam Picard-
Blake? oh, like a coffee break!!
Poet? What is that? Is it tasty? Is it a popular new snack? Usagi, Stars 179

I like it too, just not enough to go in my top six. And as for slow songs, I do like Princess Moon (one of the few slow ones I do like).

Favorites:
1. Moon Revenge- Awesome, just awesome.
2. La Soldier- I just like it.
3. Carry On- honestly, I think this was an improvement on Moonlight Densetsu in that battle with Beryl...
4. Ai no Senshi- I love faster-paced music
5. Otome no Policy- There aren't enough upbeat ending songs in anime...

Least Favorites:
1. Any slow song

Luna was an okay song, not a favorite though

It's hard to decide on both categories especially for best.. I'll just list the ones that first come to mind ^^;
Favorites (in no order)

Moon Revenge- Peach Hips' best song. Great beat, excellent ending song for the movie, and I like how each senshi gets a solo part

Flame Sniper- I love this song, it's so sexy! And you have to love Rei and the drunk sounding dude speaking English at the beginning. Hilarious :P

Senshi no Omoi- Michiru's VA sounds waay different in this but I like her voice, the song is so relaxing. Sounds like somethin you'd cruise in your car to near the ocean. Go figure.

Golden Queen Galaxia- Awesome rock song. I love Galaxia's VA's voice

Sailor Star Song- It's the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Sailor Stars. SO memorable

Least favorites

Heart Moving- I hate the singer's voice. If her voice was better I would like this song. It does have a pretty melody...

Chikara wo Awasete- Taiki's image song. Again if the woman could sing, it would've been decent

Daddy's Girl- OMG this is so cheezy, even worse than the DiC opening theme "From pigtails to perfumes?" C'mon!! .Jupiter doesn't even have a dad and she's supposed to be singing this!! At least the melody for the opening theme was good.

Ai no Echuudo- It's rather bland, tries to be overly romantic. I also don't care for the guy or girl's voice or the accordian at the beginning and some other parts of the song.

Toki wo Koete- my god! Mamoru's VA didn't sing this one well at all. However I did enjoy his R image song as the Moon Shadow Knight, and You're Just My Love w/Usagi. It's so sweet
"This guy are sick."- Aeris (Final Fantasy VII)

Favorites:

1. Moon Revenge
2. Sailor Stars Song
3. Nothing at All (dub)
4. Flame Sniper
5. Kampfe Sailor Moon

Why:

1. It's such an awesome song! Besides, the lyrics are fun to sing in English (I left you in the garden of time... this kiss is a flaming tattoo...)
2. This song is sooo sweet! It's all cheerful and its fun! "Makenai! Give a Sailor Yell!"
3. This is the best dub song ever. It's so sad and so sweet. It's a shame that it got shortened in the S movie, as not only is it an awesome song, but it was only 2:00 minutes to begin with!
4. The same reason as above. "Are you the one... everyone is... talking about?" "*whispy voice* "Yessss.... I am Sailor Mars. They all call me... Flame Sniper. *increasingly whispy, to the point of demonic sounding* Are you READY?" It's just an fun song to sing!
5. The German opening of Sailor Moon was so cool! "You've beat every single demon now! Come on Sailor Moon!" (Would this song count as a second dub song, since its from the German dub? If so, then sorry!)

Least Favorites:

1. Chasing After You
2. I Wanna Hold Your Hand
3. Moonlight Romance

Why:

1. Soo..... stupid... and... annoying... I just don't like it.
2. I didn't like the beatles version, but at least they made it sound good. This version is just... bleh.
3. This song just didn't work for me. It was kinda pretty, but I just didn't like it.

I like the other songs that I've heard, so that's all for least faves. But, if you're including songs that weren't in the show, but kinda about it, then take off "Kampfe Sailor Moon" and put on "The Real Sugar Baby." This song was sooo cute!! (It's a parody of "The Real Slim Shady" but its song by someone who sounds a lot like "Rini's" voice, if its not actually her.)
"I loved you. I was a pentapod monster, but I love you. I was despicable and brutal and turpid, mais je t'aimais, je t'aimais. And there were times when I knew how you felt, and it was hell to know it. My Lolita girl, brave Dolly Schuller."

Favorites:
1.Moon Revenge- It's moon revenge woooo... so addicting and pretty
2.Tuxedo Mirage-Nice and slow and pretty...
3. Route Venus- I dunno, just like listening to this one over and over...
4.La Soldier- So determined!
5. Ai wo shinjiru(sp?)-Usagi-chan is so kawaii!

Least favorites:
1.Dub background music- it's muzak man (bad synthisizer music).
2.Sailor Star song- meh, I just got tired of this one.
3.You are just my love- Mamoru's singing is kinda scary in a bad way.
4.Kissing in the Starlight- I dunno, just don't like it
5.Moonlight Destiny- the singing kinda splits my skull when it gets to the chorus.

The Real Sugar Baby was sung by Rini's SuperS VA, though I don't believe it was for Sailor Moon. Her voice actually sounds like that. I believe she's a radio VJ in Canada. She's had some recent guest spots on the Red Green show as one of the TV network's reps, constantly trying to tell Red how to run the show.
