Sailor Luna- your first reaction

*looks at pictures carefully*

The kid is cute, but the fuku is very distrubing. I only say one episode, but from everything I've been reading and now seeing in pictures....I'm a little scared.

I miss older human Luna. Her dress was so pretty. Now she's a little girl fighting with the other senshi. I'm not really sure what to think.

I'm a little sad that the series is so different from the manga. The anime parted from it quite often. Now this is going in a whole lot of different directions. I guess I was hoping for something that would be a lot closer to it because the story line was so involved.

My whole view with Sailor Luna is well...a bit desperate. Really, why do this when the plot right now is a bit of a cry jerker. Well for me anyways...

[spoiler]When the gang saw the mittens that Ami-chan made for them before she went evil....bah...twas sad[/spoiler]

But her outfit...umm...maybe the designers had a bad day?? I know one thing...if they keep giving away cds, calanders, and manga books....I'm packing up and moving to Japan!!!

LG: "Ow...the fuku colors X_X What were they thinking??"
Me: "Wow, she's cute! But the idea...I'll wait until I see how they work it."
LG: "O.o Her hair is blue..."
Me: "She's a senshi in that picture."
LG: "No...her hair is still blue in human form."

Third Reaction: WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BEAUTIFUL ADULT HUMAN LUNA?!?

I liked the fuku at first, but after looking at it a little harder, I didn't like the colors much at all. What's next, a Tuxedo Artemis?

I haven't been keeping up with PGSM, so I have no clue what the heck's happening with the story, but when I first heard the name "Sailor Luna", I thought it sounded corny. When I first saw a pic of Sailor Luna, I thought she looked corny. I'm pretty sure that when I see her in action, it'll be corny. This sounds like a worse fanfiction idea than all those annoying Sailor Suns or Sailor Earths they have. I guess I'll just wait and see how she turns out. I just hope this doesn't kill the show's ratings.

My rections went something like this:

1: Sailor Luna? What Sailor Luna?
2: My god that outfit is creepy.

I'm going to copy / paste a rant from one of my site updates.

They have a Sailor Luna in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. While normally I wouldn't have too much of a problem with this (ignoring the fact that the concept was completely random and odd sounding) it's really creepy. For one, it's in live action. (I always had a little problem with live action, it's never really worked for me.) For two, it's a little kid. (Ever watch the S movie, oh great creators of PGSM? She's a freakin' adult! Even in the original manga!) For three, if you think Rubeus in spandex would look creepy, Rubeus in spandex is like Tuxedo Kamen in a tuxedo compared to the outfit. It looks like a mix of Eternal Sailor Moon and Sailor Iron Mouse with SeraMyu outfits. I like to imagine the anime Luna waking up and thinking "What the hell was I on?" and walking away shaking her head.

I'm not sure if a description of her henshin would be a spoiler, so I'm putting it in spoiler tags.

[spoiler]...GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! I saw the henshin! It's...it's..!!! It shows Luna and it sounds like she's saying "Luna Pluto Power" (although I seriously doubt it) and then she presses buttons on this phone and says "make up" and the transformation starts. Do you think if I say "Luna Pluto Power make up" and press the 6, 7, and 2 on my phone I can transforms into Sailor Luna? Then starts the sickeningly cute transformation and tons of little accessories about as slow as Sailor Moon's transformation. Then Sailor Luna's dancing on a strawberry cake or something to make her boots appear. Do you think maybe if I dance on a strawberry cake I'll...never mind. Then Sickeningly Cute Plushie Luna imitates Sailor Luna by shaking her paws. That strawberry cake is really getting on my nerves right about now. Then a pull noise as Sailor Luna sticks out her tounge in a catlike fasion and makes her tiara appear? Ookay...Then Sailor Luna poses in front of the moon. I think I need both an insulin shot and a gun shot to get over that...[/spoiler]

For me:

1) Sees the black and white newpaper clipping: "0___o WTF?! That's either her tail, or a gimped stick growing out of her ass."

2)Sees her in colour: "Her fuku is so bitchin', I love the colours and would so wear that (yes I'm serious).

3)Sees her in civilian form:@_@ Why is her hair blue? Is she trying to attract attention? Is her hair supposed to be a search light for the Dark Kingdom to find them?

4)Sees episode:She's so kawaii (watches as [spoiler]they speed up her running away[/spoiler] WTF? But that scene [spoiler]with her in the mall chasing the balls is very cute[/spoiler]

5)Sees her henshin:[spoiler] WHY IS SHE SHAKING HER ASS AT THE AUDIENCE?[/spoiler]

It's Luna Prism Power! Make-up and her introduction speech is "Pretty Sailor soldier of love and all things small, Sailorluna! In the name of the Moon, I'll punish you!"

Well, I haven't seen any PGSM yet but I have seen Sailor Luna's Fuku and a video clip of her henshin sequence.

I actually really like her Fuku! Yellow and Purple are contrasting colours so they look really vibrant. But I think she would have looked better with black hair, the blue just looks odd.

Her whole cat-themed Fuku is so cute, but I must admit, I absolutely LOVE Tokyo Mew Mew, so a slight bias there...

But I do think her henshin was a tad bit too cutesy. And the way she shakes her tail at the camera is just so disturbing! Especially as she's a little girl!

One think though, I think her name is too predictable, she should have been Sailor Neko Moon or something, that would have been really cool!

When I first heard about the idea, I though it was really stupid. When I finally saw her on screen, I was just thinking 'omg'. I wish they had used the manga Luna, and kept her the same age as the rest of the girls, or maybe a bit older. I didn't like the blue hair and outfit she wears in her civilian form. It looks like she came out of the circus or something >_> I just hope that Sailor Luna will fade into the background as the series progresses.

When I first heard of Sailor Luna, I was just like, "Ok...I'd like to see how they pull this off..." But when I saw the entire episode with her in it, I was severly freaked out. The henshin, the introduction, basically the entire Sailor Luna idea was FAR too cute for me. Luna, in her cat form, is supposed to be intelligent and a guardian for Usagi, not some little imature Chibi-Usa type! In my opinion, they should have kept this idea for Diana, and not Luna...
But this thing isn't going to keep me from watching PGSM. I like the series far too much, and want to see how it progresses, so I'll continue watching it, but just trying to ignore Sailor Luna.

Ok, here's my reaction from seeing the screencaps of the Sailor Luna episodes. I found a website that shows the episodes in screen cap form. (basically a scene by scene illiustrated summary)

Sailor Luna is one wierd kid! None of this seems at all Luna-like. She's suppose to be the guardian cat and she's fighting the enemy like she is Chibi-Usa in training. I'm hoping things get better.

Sailor Luna is actually given an attack now. *Blah* Ok, as I stated before, this girl keeps reminding me of Chibi-Usa. Its cute, yet funny at the same time. I died laughing and for a minute I thought it wouldn't work so I can laugh some more.

Everyone here blames Toei for the creation of Sailor Luna, when in fact, Naoko Takeuchi had just as much input into the design of the costume:

*Nods* Yep, that's why I mentioned her in my post...It boggles my mind how Naoko would come up with something so STUPID.

Her drawing is adorable, but it'sj ust something that shouldn't be brought to life, you know? It makes zero sense for Luna to be a little girl, and it makes even less sense (if that's possible...^^; I guess it would be negative sense? *ponders*) for NAOKO to come up with that idea, when she's the one that came up with ADULT Luna. O_o;;

After seeing that picture, I'll say this: if it were done in the anime or the manga, it wouldn't be so bad--it's in the same style as the rest of Naoko's stuff, and particularly in the manga, without the gaudy colors, it would have fit in. Yeah, it's a little kawaii for kawaii's sake, but so're Chibi-usa and Chibi-chibi. It's the actual execution in PGSM, putting an eight-year old in a big costume and putting a fake tail and ears on her and telling her to go be cute that shocks us, I think.

What looks good on paper or cellulite (I THINK that's what animation cells are made of - correct me if I'm wrong here) does not always translate well to live action. That's why it's really hard, I believe, to pull off cosplaying well unless you are extremely creative with all the accessories; some things just look better in non-real media (awkwardly worded, to be sure, but I just got off a pretty relaxing couple off days on the cape, so :P )

:looks at pic: Her wand is different then the one in the show, isn't it? I like the drawing one better.

I actually like the live action fuku better than the drawing, although the drawing is still cute.

Although I still can't figure out why her civillian form has a tail 0__o;
