Sailor Luna- your first reaction

Post by Neo Dead Moon » Mon Apr 19, 2004 1:44 pm

What was your first reaction to Sailor Luna from Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon?

Mine was, "That's it...Toei and Naoko have both finally lost it".

My first reaction-and still my current reaction, since i have yet to see the episodes with her in it-was/is: "Dear god...what were they THINKING?! Why would Naoko APPROVE something like this?"

I still think it's an incredibly stupid idea.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

My reaction: Great Guardians!!!!! What drugs are the writers on???? :? :?
"Oh yeah. Someone is definitely tired of breathing." ("The Main Man", Part 1)

I'm writing this Sailor Moon/Green Lantern crossover AU fic called "Emerald Sunrise". It's a hybrid of Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Romance, and Comedy. It's about Ami (Sailor Mercury) getting a new boyfriend who just happens to be a member of The Green Lantern Corps. I'm also throwing in some other characters from other animes and some old Hanna-Barbera cartoons from the late '60's early '70's. I'm also illustrating it as well. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.

Since I've only read about her, and haven't seen a smidge of her in the series yet (I've only seen the first two episodes ^^;) my first reaction when reading about her was: *jaw drop*

As I read more and more about her, my jaw dropped further and further.

Anubi: Oh God.
Anubi: I just saw Mog/Terra hentai.
Kari: XDDDDDDDDDDDD
Anubi: My life is snow scarred.
Kari: ooooo, snow
Anubi: Oo, fun.

My thought was: Awww...she's cute! I'd probably like her (like I do Tokyo Mew Mew and Chibi-Usa-sama), but I haven't seen ANY PGSM yet. :(

Then again, I have a very high tolerance for cutesyness.

Personally I'm going to try to keep an open mind. I'm still waiting to see her in act 27 (Come on, TV-N!). I mean, I like the series because it's not the anime or the manga and it's generally well-written. So, maybe Sailor Luna will be really cool and tie into the plot somehow.

"Are the costume designers color-blind?"

Her fuku is the worst thing about her (besides the idea in general). If she had a better fuku, I might like her. Maybe.

I really dislike her Sailor Suit. :? As previously said on almost all Sailormoon forums, it clashes. Plus, what is the connection between fluffy ponytails and little girls? Chibi Usa had the same time of hairstyle (so did Chibi Chibi only the hair was not so long) and now Luna. I really have to wonder, why not make it normal long hair?

First reaction: There's a Sailor Luna???

That sucks. I just hope this doesn't horribly screw up the show since it has absolutely nothing to do with the original series...

You guys say her Sailor Suit is ugly. Do you guys have a pic or something? I wanna see! *starts to whine*

So..Luna's a human who disguises herself as a cat who disguises herself as a plush toy? :? Also, her fuku and the fact that she seems to be younger than both Chibi-Usa and Diana, yet is supposed to be the Senshei's trainer made me think, "What the heck?"

If she IS their trainer, then I find it wonderfully unstereotypical that she's a kid. Or, maybe Sailor Luna and Luna the cat are two different beings. Here's two questions for those who saw the story with Sailor Luna:
1) Did Luna the cat disappear, or is she still there in the story?
2) Does Sailor Luna have a regular name, or does she just stay as a Senshi? Just curious, since I haven't seen PGSM.
Sailor Luna IS Luna, and vice versa. Through ways that are sofar unknown, she can change back and forth between her cat form and her human form.

Her human identity is the oh-so-clever "Nekono Luna". She in fact appears to the Soldiers in this form, revealing her true nature (both as Sailor Luna and Luna the cat) to Sailor Moon when she's fighting Dark Mercury.
Thank you for telling me that--she sounds interesting.
Personally, I think it's a good thing that PGSM is steering so far from the anime; it makes it more like a new show instead of just a repeat. At first, I didn't think I'd be interested in it because I thought it was just going to be a repeat of the manga, only live-action, but if they're doing new plots then I'm curious, at least.
A senshi deisguised as human disguised as a cat disguised as a plushy. confusing :? . Her cloths clash. It's like the writers over dosed on sugar and speed. What are her attack's gonna be fur ball suprise? Is she just gonna disappear when sailor mercury turns good or is she gonns become a perment meber of the team.

Massive Spoilers Ahead:
Luna is able to transform into Nekono Luna/Sailor Luna due to the powers of the Silver Crystal. So far, she's been known to have cat-like speed, and attacks using a Luna P-like Moon Stick which can transform into, apparently, whatever she wants. She struck Kunzite in the face with it when it was transformed into a huge folding fan, but it didn't do much more than piss him off, and so he swatted her away like nothing. Somehow, in doing that, she was turned back into a cat.
There's no telling what will happen to her once Mercury returns to normal; I assume that, like humans Luna, Artemis, and Diana in the SuperS manga, she'll leave once her duty is done.

Rainbow: While I respect your opinion, the addition of this Sailor Luna has, so far, done little more than add SuperS-level comedy to the show, and with poor timing, at that. Given the recent events prior to this latest episode, it was a bit disappointing to see such lightheartedness and, in my opinion, downright stupidity coming out of this character. I was impressed by the serious tone that this version of the story had recently set, only to have it all but abolished with her addition. Let's just hope that either her tone and attitude becomes a lot more serious in future episodes, or that her appearence in this one was short-lived; as I explained in the PGSM thread, the episode was saved by some great non-Sailor Luna moments, but I don't think I could handle such lightheartedness for much longer.

Maybe I shouldn't make judgments until I've SEEN the LA show, huh. I still stand by my idea that if I like the Tokyo Mew Mew manga, which is pretty cutesy, and like SuperS, then I'd probably at least be neutral to, if not like, Sailor Luna.

The more I learn, the more PGSM sounds like a bad fanfic to me...
"Tell my tale to those who ask... tell it truthfully, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence..." last words of Dinobot, "Code of Hero"
"Is that a poisonous elephant in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" ~another forum
"Monster! I''''m going to collide with you indefinitely as my limbs flail wildly about!" ~NPC, Dragon Warrior VII
"I bet you were thinking how hot it would be to see Tsunade with her gates wide open, inviting you..." ~DuneMan

You took the words right out of my mouth. THAT'S what upsets me so much about Sailor Luna. Not only did I just find it a ridiculous idea to begin with, but they picked such a stupidly bad time to introduce her! I was so loving the serious drama of PGSM, since we have enough added humor in the anime, and then they throw this wrench in.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

http://www.moonromance.net/pgsm/gallery/sailorluna.htm

Just to clear some things up, Neko no Luna is NOT Luna's human untransformed self. It's her cat self. You know, neko? It's ningen no sugata no Luna. Also, nowhere in PGSM is Luna a cat disguised as a plushie. She's not a real cat at all, just a plushie. I don't even know if she's really a human disguised as a plushie. I'm hoping Sailor Luna is not her real form.
