Where to Buy SM Movies Online
Hello all,
After reading that Geneon will be losing the right to the SM movies, I was checking out the prices online of the movie set. There is a wide range of prices out there and am worried about legitimacy and piracy of the products. Can anyone tell me whether the following places sells or have sold pirated stuff and which would be the safest best? Other store suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance!!
www.amazon.com $80.98
www.deepdiscountdvd.com $37.19 and $52.07 (there are two different sets, and I'm not sure of the difference.)
www.discountanimedvd.com $44.49
www.bargainanime.com $64.99
www.wizzywig.com $52.49
www.animovies.com $64.95

And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

Buy from any of the retailers from whoie's post or from http://www.rightstuf.com ($44.98 for the Geneon Pack).
You seem like the kind of person who'll lie.
However... this sword doesn't lie.

Well, Whoie posted a link from DiscountAnimeDVD, so I assumed s/he is comfortable with bootlegs. Unless the bootlegs have something wrong with them? Like degraded quality of the audio or video?Aya Reiko wrote: Bootleg - Avoid at all costs.

*shrug* that's your opinion. It's up to her if she wants to pursue them or not. She asked for some suggestions, and Tempest gave one. She simply asked if the places sold pirated sets, not that she didn't necessarily want any. If Tempest has bought from this place and finds it to be safe and reliable, then we'll allow her to share that information.Aya Reiko wrote:Bootleg - Avoid at all costs.Tempest wrote:http://www.import-anime.com - 21.00

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

That line kind of implies that the person didn't want bootlegs...There is a wide range of prices out there and am worried about legitimacy and piracy of the products

I don't remember reading that before. I usually read posts from begining to end. I must be slipping. I probably saw the DiscountAnimeDvD link and jumbed to my own assumptions or misinterprated what was written. My bad.Dinozore wrote:That line kind of implies that the person didn't want bootlegs...There is a wide range of prices out there and am worried about legitimacy and piracy of the products
To my knowlage, all the links you've dropped sold domestic box sets. DiscountAnimeDvDs does deal in bootlegs or "imports" DVDs and import-anime.com does contain bootlegged items, but they are very reliable.

She said she was worried. She could have taken Tempest's advice anyway she wanted. She could have stayed away from that link, as Aya Reiko said, or maybe checked it out if Tempest gave her background info.Dinozore wrote:That line kind of implies that the person didn't want bootlegs...There is a wide range of prices out there and am worried about legitimacy and piracy of the products

Thank you, Tiff.
Some people are afraid or shy to admit that they own bootlegged titles or are looking for them, so they won't mention it without the fear of being harassed or looked down upon.
If Whoie finds my suggestion offensive or uncomfortable, then I'll gladly edit my post and offer my apologies. I just don't see the point of making this into a huge issue. As Tiff said, It's one's prerogative to persue these types of titles.

I suggest buying separate volumes new from z-shop sellers at Amazon.com. I have yet to have a bad experience from z-shop sellers, in fact, sometimes they are more reliable than Amazon itself. Be warned when buying sets from z-shop sellers though, because sets that are suspiciously cheap usually end up being bootlegs. Ooh, if you buy used you probably won't get the ugly red strips though.

Thank for all the replies!!
There's no need to apologize. This is a forum for everyone and to let everyone know what stores may sell/have sold bootlegs. Plus, it's always nice to have these kind of information if you are worried about these kind of things. If Whoie finds my suggestion offensive or uncomfortable, then I'll gladly edit my post and offer my apologies.
At least allow me to offer my apologies for misinterpreting your post the way I did.
I know that not everyone is comfortable with bootlegs, but I'm never sure who is and who is to shy to admit that they are. Being a mod I should have read your post more carefully and only suggested/recommended site for legitimate releases. I didn't intend to sound like a bootleg pusher. As formentioned, D.A.D. carries a mixture of bootleg and domestic/legitimate titles and I made my own assumptions.
If it's not too late;
http://www.uln.com - $37.18
It's the same general price-range that DeepDiscountDVD has for their boxset trilogy, but I've shopped at ULN many times and I still continue to shop there.
You can also take SailorBoy62 suggestion and purchase through Amazon.com z-shops. So far all the business that I've done with z-shops have worked out well, but there are some untrustworthy people out there. Some may sell you a bootleg movie or rip you off completely. I'm pretty sure they have customer commentaries. Before ordering, read their feedback.
