Questions About the Manga

1) How accurate is Mixx's version? I heard from someone that it was pretty botched up and I would be better off just getting copies of the Japanese version and finding translations online. Is this true?

2) Does anyone know of any sites where you can view the manga online?

In terms of storyline, it translates quite well. The only problem I have with Mixx is the inconsistencies with names and the like. Sometimes they slip up, and they'll say "Chibiusa" instead of Rini, or something like that. They also tend to americanize a few things, but that's pretty common with a lot of english manga. I'd go ahead and buy it, as they're pretty damn decent

That link takes you to Alex Glover's translations of the manga. However, it's only text, not pictures. So, you'd be better off buying the Mixx Manga, IMO. I agree with Tiff on it. There are lots of inconsistencies that bother me, but it remains faithful to the true story. You get to see Naoko's work, rather than Toei's. And, even with the problems in the Mixx Manga, I'd rather read it than watch Subtitled episodes of the series. It's just that damn good, IMO.

I wouldn't waste my money on the English manga. Having had to put up with the dub for years now, the English names officially annoy me whenever I hear/read them, and since Tokyopop uses the DiC dub names for the characters, that pisses me off. I also hate how the quality of the artwork had dropped when Tokyopop flipped it. The binding isn't too great either and my copy of the last volume has completely fallen apart most likely because of the binding, as some of my flipped Cardcaptor Sakura manga is also starting to fall apart. I only bought a few volumes of the English manga and I don't intend to buy anymore until Tokyopop re-releases it unflipped, which unfortunately, doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

...o_O; None of my mangas have ever even remotely fallen apart,and i've even folded back the covers. The artwork still looks exactly the same to me, and the dubbed names aren't enough to make me not enjoy the manga story.

*Shrug* I have really no qualms about the manga except for what I mentioned above.

I agree that the inconsistancies with names and such is annoying, but after a while I started just translating the names in my head, so I don't even really think about it anymore. However, I do like Usagi's name being Bunny instead of Serena. It's easier to deal with.

Frankly, the over all quality in my opinion is fairly good. Enjoyable enough to read. The artwork is awesome, may not be perfect in some people's opinion, but for what we have it's very cool. I love seeing Naoko's drawings....even if they are flipped. So far nothing has taken away too much from the actual reading experience for me. The story is still just as touching and powerful.

I noticed that almost all of the English manga's blank ink seems to rub off on your fingers.

Could it be the paper quality? Maybe you should go buy the new edition of the Japanese manga. Right now, they have released 7 of the volumes with a total of 12. They have new covers, new stickers, selected cover pages, art edits, etc. It's not that expensive either.
