Weird Sailor Moon Online experiences

...no, I'm not talking about correspondence with Sailormoon.com, or your first viewing of PGSM, or your discovering that the show wasn't American, rather something else that caught you off-guard.

I post in the forum at Scifilm under the name of Mindflash. This largely consists of me posting anime reviews . Last August, I posted a topic on PGSM, and since October, I've been irregularly posting reviews of the episodes.

And imagine my surprise when someone named "Sailor moon" (grammar in original) turns up, decides to revive the topic and puts little thought into the fact that it may not be a Sailor Moon site (as you may guess, Scifilm is dedicated to reviewing sci-fi, fantasy and horror. I have a non-anime review up about the movie SOLARBABIES). And there are far better sites out there that actually concentrate on Sailor Moon

...well, I thought it was odd...

Anyway, what are yours?

Can bizarre reviews of Sailor Moon fanworks count? Because someone on FF.net once gave me a review that accused my fics of being too stereotypical and cliche...and they said they never read the fics! To understand what's going on here, my FF.net name is "Anti-Stereotype Girl" so maybe this person was making fun of everyone's names.

I was surfing through a list of results for Sailor Moon when I happened upon a site that sounded totally benign. Imagine my surprise when the site loaded and it was a Sailor Moon Hentai Site
I'll skip the details as you don't want to be scarred that way, but enough to say it was just plain wrong.

My most off guard thing that happened with Sailor Moon is when I started to download music videos and stuff off Kazaa. That was the when I learned what Erotica meant O_o

Somehow, all my off guard experiences involved Sailor Moon Hentai sites. I was taught to read descriptions on Google that have XXX in them.

The last thing that caught me off guard recently was that Sailor Moon was my first anime back in '96 O_O The gaspness! It took 8 years for me to figure that out.

Hmm. A French website run by a former friend that was nice in the beginning but has turned into... well, the overall design seems fine but it just feels bizarre everytime I go see it o.O;;;;;;;;;;;; (which doesn't happen more than once every two months anyway now!)

My weridest experiance was when Em posted my fsanfiction for me at Fanfiction.net... I got a comment sayign tha tI stole her or his title and put it to a character... the reviewers name you ask the REAL sailor universe. NOt kidin they capitalized the real... When I didn't even know that FF.net was out there! O_O imagine my shock when I read that... the only two review were flames.... hmm... I'm loved!

*shrug* People have a right to RP whatever they want...and roleplaying sex is not that different than writing an erotic fanfic, so I see no reason to "kick butt".

My weird moment was when I first saw the Cartoon Network website section on Sailor Moon.
I was brand new to the show. I had just seen a couple of episodes of S on Cartoon Network, and when I got a chance I did a search on the library computer. Anywho, I found the CN website and their little Toonami\Sailor Moon section and I read the "info."
There, I saw "Haruka" and "Michiru" used for Uranus and Neptune's civilian names. Cunfuzzeled was I! The names I remembered hearing on the show were "Amara" and "Michelle." Surely they wouldn't make a mistake like that on their information page. Alas, next time I watched the show I heard "Amara" and "Michelle."

This was very weird to me at the time… and very confusing. ;_; *kicks CN for confusing a cute and adorable me*

I also remember the first time I got internet, and wanted to search for sailor moon stuff...I was still watching the dub at the time, and had no knowledge of original sailor moon other than the fact that I knew the show had to be japanese becuase I recognized the art style...I found a website that had pictures of the outers on them...and it had Haruka in school uniform. I thought "ooh, he's nice looking, I wonder whose boyfriend he is?"...then I saw a picture of "him" in a fuku. I about shit myself.

I thought Haruka in the boys' uniform was a guy too. Then I got a poster that had Uranus in it. I was very confused.

There's someone quite frustrating and yet also strange at this other forum I'm on. She calls herself "Sailor Moon," and no, I'm pretty sure it's not the same person as the one here, they seem to have fairly different personalities and I think they have different email addresses too. I'd be pretty shocked if it turned out they were the same. Anyway, here it is. She basically won't let ANYONE correct her on any of her ludicrous ideas. She claims to be the real Sailor Moon, she claims that she has a video of the ORIGINAL SailorStars with them as girls and that the dub made them into boys, and when me and whole bunch of people proved her wrong about the Starlights, she said to end the conversation and that we were wrong. I mean, really, it just seems weird to me mostly because for one thing I've never seen anyone get away with claiming to be a real, live Sailor Senshi! Odd for me, but I'm actually wishing you were there, Tiff, you'd have her banned so fast her odangos would fly off, if she IS the real Usagi Tsukino. (who wouldn't be so arrogant) Sorry if this doesn't fit the topic, I just found it very bizarre and also an insult to Chibi-Usa-sama's dear mother.

From what I understand, banning your account for adult content was a new guideline that started up some time last year. They wanted to make their site more friendly by exculding erotica from their bases. I don't use FF.net (I don't trust public archives) , but i think it's in the terms of service. Indecent content (general erotica or child erotica) is not permitted and accounts will be suspended. Like many other website providers, they are enforicng children protection laws.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but some of the "wierd" thing you are discribing, or lack of discription, sounds more like griping rather than something you found to be strange.
The topic is weird experiences. It could be good or bad, just something you can go back and think, "Thats .... odd". Not things you found offensive or disturbing. Like these other posts for example. Rainbow : Someone claiming to be the real "Sailor Moon" or for Tiff and Starscream : they met their current relationships online because of Sailormoon.

If this "pic" of Chibiusa was odd, what made it so odd? Saying, "that pic of Chibi-usa", not much to go on. You don't have to post the picture, but explian what made it odd to you. Give us a better understanding. Chibi-Chibi hentai is disturbing, but I hardly see why is more odd than most child-oriented hentai (written or drawn). It sounds like it offended you. This topic isn't for discussing what people find offensive or sick, but you you find wierd.

So..Chibi-Chibi hentai fanart is sick...but Hotaru/Chibiusa erotica isn't? That's just...so incredibly hypocritical.

It would be one thing if you just plain said "Chibichibi hentai is sick", but..you wrote an erotic fanfic abuot two children. how does a PICTURE of children engaged in sex make you any more sick than writing a STORY about children engaged in sex?

This was a great experience I remember. I knew these people online that were famous cosplayers. They dressed up as my favorite couple Usagi and Mamoru also known as Serena and Darien. One day I was shopping in a book store and I saw some people shopping who looked exactly like the people I knew and I realized that it was the people I talked to online and I met them in real life. It was great seeing them in real life.
