Okay, okay, "weirded out," then. Is that better? I guess I wasn't surprised to see that as Maker's attack phrase when I first saw it, since I knew what a uterus was.ParaKiss_Groupie wrote:I don't find it gross either. I've never heard anyone say they were grossed out by the attack name. Hell, most people I know don't even know what the uterus is. The reason people find it odd is because it's such an odd word to use. I mean, how many times a day do you hear/use the word "uterus."? It's just a weird word, not a gross one.Tiff wrote:I don't think people are grossed out moreso than the're like "O___o;;;" I don't think it's GROSS, It just makes me giggle *shrugs*Rainbow wrote:

I DO always remember finding Healer and Fighter's attack names funny, because:
Star Serious Laser: I just think it's funny that an ALIEN has "laser" in the attack name, since it makes me think of Buzz Lightyear. (imagines Seiya saying "You don't want to be in the way when my laser goes off!")
Star Sensitive Inferno: I'm still unsure what exactly an inferno has to do with healing, since it makes me think of Dante's Inferno. Is she the Senshi of Hell?

A lot of Senshi attack names don't quite make sense. For example, what about throwing a bunch of electric leaves at an enemy has anything to do with evolving or evolution?

Lol. Well said, Dinozore. A lot of them don't make much sense.Dinozore wrote:A lot of Senshi attack names don't quite make sense. For example, what about throwing a bunch of electric leaves at an enemy has anything to do with evolving or evolution?

LOL! Well I was chanting "Do the jealous dyke thing!" as I have been witness to a scene very similar to that many times myself IRL (AND had to deal with it) involving jealous dykes.Dinozore wrote:I know about that scene (though I haven't gotten that far yet myself), I was just questioning the phrase she used...
And true, while I think anyone would probably want to kick someone's ass for making moves onto their g/f, gotta love it when a woman stands up and takes charge.

Back on topic...
Yaten's my favorite. He's just gorgeous-I love his hair and his eyes. And his attack is my favorite of the three, as well.
Seiya and Taiki are tied. I know that a lot of people hate Taiki, but I actually like him (but not as much as Yaten!) His attack is cool (and easily has the most original attack name), and I just liked his personality (and his eyes). Seiya was a great character as well. He was good-looking and has a cool attack. I like him and Usagi as a couple (don't like Mamoru).
I always think of the Starlights as guys...because I have the Mixx version of the manga and I just can't really see Taiki as a girl...heh

Really? I have it too, I got it even before I saw the anime, and I thought it made it pretty clear that the Lights were girls. They kept in Tin Nyanko's remark about them being girls who pretend to be boys. The translation doesn't make them look more masculine, does it?Artemis wrote: I always think of the Starlights as guys...because I have the Mixx version of the manga and I just can't really see Taiki as a girl...heh

I was expecting to hate them, and was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't. I like Seiya and Yaten lots, and Taiki... well, he's okay. Only okay though.
But his "girl" voice (yeah I know he's voiced by a girl anyway... you know what I mean, when he transforms!) does make me want to throw things most of the time. It's... well, it's wrong. To my ears, at any rate.

Yet another topic where I don't have a post! Gnomes must be stealing them or something. *X Files music*
Anyway...as far as looks go, I have to go with Yaten. Silver hair is awesome. Plus, he has the best hairstyle. Seiya's hair is, like, missing from the sides of his head. It bugs me to no end. Taiki's hair is parted funny and he has no bangs. I dislike characters who don't have bangs. Foreheads are teh evil. Yaten also has the best eyes. They're the prettiest green I've ever seen. Seiya's eyes are just kind of there, and Taiki's eyes...are too...rectangular or something. I'm not sure what it is. Oh, it's his entire face is what it is. All his features are like squished into the center of his face. I hate it when he wears his ugly, ugly sunglasses. (which is weird, cuz I usually *love* that style of glasses) I also (heart) Healer's outfit the most. Personality-wise, Seiya and Yaten are tied.
Oh, and waaay back when whoever it was was wondering about the Star Sensitive Inferno...I kinda always assumed it was the "sensitive" part that went with "healer." *shrugs*

Would you say that Princess Kakyuu counts as one of the Starlights? If so, I would have to pick her as my favourite, as she genuinely wants to get on with Sailor Moon and the other Sailor Soldiers. Plus, she has the most amazing dress.
Apart from Kakyuu... I would have to pick Seiya/Star Fighter as my favourite. I'm not that keen on his/her character design, but he/she really did care about the Earth and the Sailor Soldier, so he/she was a lot like Kakyuu in that respect. ^-^
Then Yaten/Star Healer, simply because he/she liked cats, and I do too! Silly reason, but apart from Seiya and Kakyuu, I don't really like the Starlights. I found them too hostile and cold...
My least favourite, sorry to anyone who likes him/her, is Taiki/Star Maker. I'm sorry! I really tried to like him/her! It's just... two things that Taiki said/did really made me dislike him...
Firstly, just after the Starlights discovered the other Sailor Soldiers identities... I think it was the next episode... He said something along the lines of 'I hope Sailor Moon's battle with Galaxia is very violent.' It just struck me as a very cruel thing to say. Secondly, later in the series when Sailor Mercury was being attacked my the pharge and Taiki just walked away. She was really in danger! Again, it just struck me as really cold and cruel.
I really hope this doesn't offend any Taiki/Star Maker fans, I didn't mean to, if I did I am really sorry!

I'm probably Taiki's biggest fan on this forum (I have an Internet friend who beats me in that, but she's not on the forum), and I don't hold it against you. (by the way, I'm not sure why, but I like those two parts you mentioned, maybe I LIKE Taiki's coldness?

We're pretty good around here about not getting into flame wars. I shudder to think what would happen if we tried one.doodlebuguk wrote:Thank you, I was just a little worried about upsetting someone and causing a flame war. I've seen that on other forums and it's really scary!![]()
I never really notice Taiki's coldness as something particular to him/her. It seems to me to be more of a charactaristic of the "guest" Senshi--the other Starlights and the S-era Uranus and Neptune are all pretty intolerant of the Inner Senshi. Taiki to me just seems to be a kind of Super-Ami, with the fame-for-intellectual-achievement.
Really, none of the 'lights got enough time and deep charactarization to make the kind of impression on me that could enable me to rank them the way I do the Planetary Senshi. I need to go re-watch Sailor Stars.

Hey, if that's why you like Taiki, that's great!
If you like Taiki for his/her coldness I can understand that. It's just that I tend to dislike cold characters in general, nothing personally against Taiki.
Sailorasteroid, I can see what you mean. They did seem to do that with new characters. But in the end Haruka and Michiru became nicer again to the other Sailor Soldiers again. That could have been because they appeared in one more season than the Starlights, thus they were given more time to develop their characters.
