The Sailor Starlights!

Out of curiosity, what is everyone's opinion on each of the three starlights and your favorite and least favorite?

My opinions:

Taiki/Sailor Starmaker: He is probably my favorite. I just like how he is intelligent, cold and aloof and does have a bit of a softer side to him.
Yaten/Sailor Starhealer: My second favorite. I think his loud, rude personality is fun and he's really pretty.
Seiya/Sailor Starfighter: My least favorite. I just dislike him because he appears to be little more than an "ideal guy" stereotype that every teenage girl wishes she had as her boyfriend: sweet, funny, caring, outgoing attractive, athletic and on top of all that, a famous pop star. I personally find that sort of personality to be pretty dull.

Seiya/Fighter- He's funny and plain great. I usually like cocky male characters. I think it makes them cuter or something ^_^ He'd also be better with Usagi than Mamoru. As Star Fighter SHE rocks too. I like how she says "Star Serious Laser", and his/her image song (damn make sure I use "he" and "she" at the right times. heh)

Yaten/Healer- I like how he always speaks his mind even though he can be downright rude. But I like his look, and as Star Healer too. He/she also has a good image song. And I like the fact he/she has a connection to Nuriko in Fushigi Yuugi

Taiki/Maker- I don't like anything about him/her. Except for the look of Star Gentle Uterus. His/her image song could've been good too if his/her VA could.... you know SING.

I'm basing my opinion off the Manga since I've read all the Stars manga but seen not one full episode of Stars and therefore I have no right to comment on the anime.

1) Who's sarcastic, funny, easy-going, and knows how to make Michiru break a tube of lipstick? Yaten! I like her sarcastic personality and I like her attack too. Plus he had some funny lines.

But too bad she dies in Tankouben 17. *blows taps on the trumpet.

2) Seiya. (Did anyone else besides me mispronounce her name as soy-ah instead of say-ah?) I like his personality and his closeness towards Usagi. In the Manga he didn't get too cuddly with her and since I'm a sucker for Usagi and Mamoru's relationship, it was better. Her dedication toward Kakyuu was also kinda cool

3) Taiki. I don't know what to say about her. To me, in the English Manga her character was never developed very well so I don't like her as much. I don't have too much to say therefore.

Seiya: I do not like her one bit, mostly because she reminds me of an obnoxious Animaniacs character (Yakko). I would probably like her better if she fell in love with someone other than Usagi.

Yaten: I like her, since I identify with her, but sometimes feel guilty for liking the Starlight everyone else likes. I swear, Yaten must be the most popular Starlight now! And how come it's okay for her to be short and bratty but not Chibi-Usa? (that's a rhetorical question)

Taiki: She's my favorite for reasons that I think you should just PM me about because I've been scolded on this forum before for talking about her too much. She and Usagi are my second-fave Senshi after Chibi Moon. Wow, Stephen! Someone agrees with me that Taiki should've stayed cold and aloof! I HATE the original ending of the comet story...they just had to end a good story about actually challenging dreams and romance with some mushy moral. Like poor Viluy too...

I don't like them as civilians, unfortunately; Seiya and Usagi was an unexpected and (for me) an unwelcome relationship (I truely prefer her to be with Mamoru). Taiki reminds me too much of Ami, and while I don't dislike her, one wall-flower-like character is enough for me ^^;; Yaten's alright, I suppose; I might relate since I'm the shortest among my brothers as well :(

I like the Starlights, though, especially those costumes ;) They have some great attacks, and their henshin sequences and music are great. I wish they hadn't taken up so much of the spotlight, though...

The reason the Starlights get the spotlight is because they not only have only one season to even be shown in, it's the shortest season.

I don't know if Yaten is all that popular. I think that Seiya might be a little more well-liked than him, actually ... I'm not sure. Maybe they're about equal in popularity. I know that Taiki is definitely the least popular, though.

Anime-wise, I don't like any of the Three Lights. I prefer the way Naoko had them, as females. My favorite Starlight is either Fighter or Maker. I can't stand Healer, because whenever I hear her voice I think of that damn fairy from the SuperS movie. She's rude like Maker, but Maker can be rude with so much more class.

*shudder* NO REFRENCES TO PERURU. I know you probably weren't talking about Peruru, but my friend and I watched the Japanese subbed SuperS movie and we made quite a few obscene jokes regarding Peruru. Now I can't stand him...*shudders* Some of them were funny though. If anyone wants one of the less perverted jokes private message me.

I like healer the best. she looks awesome, has the least annoying voice, and the coolest attack ^_^

Fighter, I'm so-so on, her voice is kind of annoying, but Seiya's still pretty cool

Maker annoys me to NO END! I hate hate hate her voice, she doesn't look very cool at all, and she's just plain annoying >_<

1. Seiya - He has the most personality out of all of them, moreso than Taiki and Yaten combined. I do not think he is better for Usagi than Mamoru (they're destined for each other, get over it) but they had a nice friendship at least.

It's too hard to decide who's between Yaten and Taiki. They're both pretty mean and cold. Maybe Taiki because he/she's the least mean and more of a realist, and she has the most interesting attack name.

I still can't understand how the anime Starlights can pass themselves as men... they look and sound like women...

*Sigh* Just because they're "destined to be with each other" doesn't mean me or anyone else can't think Seiya and Usagi would make a better couple. I'll leave it at that.

Actually, the Starlights aren't related. Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten are their family names, and their personal names are all Kou. Here's a good example, try finding how Seiya and Haruka introduce themselves to each other in episode 180. Another example is in 179, the cooking show announcer says "Taiki-san and Kino-san," which I think implies that Taiki is NOT her personal name, since they said Makoto's family name.

I think Naoko herself said they were friends, too.

Another thing, it's not that weird in Japan for classmates to call each other by their family names, we do that in my Japanese class! It's especially necessary with the Starlights, it would be like having three friends named Jasmine Smith, Jasmine Duncan, and Jasmine White. You might start calling them by their last names, just to not confuse things!
