PGSM DVDs

Post by RoastedTwinkies » Sun Feb 15, 2004 6:40 pm

Somewhere on these boards, someone mentioned that the first DVD of PGSM will be released in March sometime. Can anyone recommend any sites (besides ebay) where I can order it when it comes out? Thanks!

I believe amazon.co.jp would have it

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

The DVDs are R2 DVDs in Japan, not R1s for here. That's why I believe this thread was made, so that RoastedTwinkies (and anyone else looking through this thread) can find out what stores they can pre-order their imports from.

$46 for a DVD? I'm no economics expert, but that's quite expensive for one disc; anyone know what the reason for this is?

I think Japanese DVDs are always that expensive...

And to think I see many American anime fans whine about DVDs costing $30. Compared to most countries, DVDs in America are inexpensive.

At least the first volume of PGSM does have 4 episodes. An OVA series will have 1 episode but still sell for the same amount.

*shrugs* That's the way it is in Japan, buying products such as DVDs are just more expensive than it is here, which is why sometimes companies over there try to do various things to prevent reverse importing (Japanese people importing R1s instead of buying their R2s), but that's a whole different subject altogether and not for this thread.

Was it $46 bucks ad CD Japan? Cause I just checked there and it's now $53.65. I'm not sure how popular PGSM is in Japan, but if it's a huge hit, then it is reasonable that the DVD would cost so much. It's an example of demand-pull inflation; people will pay anything to get this DVD, which lets whoever produced it raise the price. I'm not very familiar with Japan's economy, but it could have to do with the fact that production costs are much higher than in the U.S. It probably costs more cause it's being imported directly from Japan and not being put on the shelf of some store in the U.S.. Many possibilities.
