Sailor Moon Character Guide Books
In Japan they have Character guidebooks for the Sailor Senshi, Mixx, hwoever, translated it and messed up a lot in the translations. It is full of so many incorrect facts that you know more before you read the books and reading all the incorrect information if hilarious, but really sad that they sell incorrect information for $20.00. I go to Barnes and Noble/Borders and look at them just to see what other wrong facts they have.
First of all, they mix the original Japanese anime, the dub anime, the Japanese manga, the mixx manga, the scout adventure books, the little kid books for three year olds, the even littlier kid books for kids who don't know how to read and make up their own facts, stir it together, and some up with this. They also mix up names. Some of their facts include Usagi getting a 0 on her test in episode 1, when, in fact, she got a 30. Another is, in episode 61, they wrote that Bertie was pretending to be the store clerk, when, in fact, it was not Beruche, it was the droid in the episode, Atsugessho, impersonating the store clerk, not Bertie. They say that Malachite takes over Endymion's body before the scouts arrive in episode 34, when in fact Kunzite does not take over Mamoru's body and the senshi appear way before Kunzite kidnaps him. They use both Unazuki and Lizzie and they also use Liz. THey use dub names for some characters and Japanese names for others. They say summaries from the original Japanese episodes, like the death's in 45-46, when nobody dies in the dub, yet they use dub names, and they dub the episodes themselves, thus confusing the little kids who did not know that everyone dies and making them both confused and sad. They say things like the dub "Zoycite" owns Tokyo Tower and they use Serenity and Endymion even though they are speaking of the dub.
They ahve so many incorrect facts, this is just from memory, but the little kids will notice it right away, so why is a professional company charging $20.00 for a book of incorrect facts? The ones I named were just a few of the many incorrect facts in one book. Their are so many, you just have to see them. What is your opinion on this? THey have millions of incorrect information and it's so inaccurate, it's quite humorous that they are making money off of inaccurate information that everyone knows the correct info to.

Usagi and Mamoru are my favorite couple ever. Usagi and Mamoru forever!
When I was a new dubbie (about four or so years ago when I just turned 14, I think) I got those books (Jupiter first, given by an anime fan friend) and thought of them as info on the show.
Even later, it wasn't until now that I knew how incorrect they were, all I knew was that they mixed dub and original.

What I find most annoying is the "Lita Kino" stuff. As far as I know, and I haven't watched too many dub eps, only Usagi and Ami were given last names in America. Serena retained hers, and Amy went between Anderson and Mizuno, but there's that debate she could have been babysitting or something. And I think Rei's last name was referred to in the SuperS episode where Rei gets her Dream Mirror stolen, but I don't think Lita or Mina were ever given last names in the show, so they shouldn't refer to it! And in Minako's they called her form when she dressed up as Sailor Moon "Sailor Mina Moon." From what I remember, in neither english or japanese did they ever give that disguise an actual name. Maybe they should have checked their sources before actually selling it...and as for "selling wrong info for 20 dollars" where I am they sell for 12.
Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....
Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!
I'm pretty sure in the S or SuperS seasons, Lita's last name was given as Kino at least once...

The dub never gave Lita and Mina's last names.
And yeah Serena's is Tsukino. All the outers also have their Japanese last names, but some have slightly different pronunciations. Raye's last name was also given in the R episode with her school concert. It stayed Hino.
I always said for Amy that her mom's last name was Anderson and her dad's was Mizuno. And her parents are divorced or separated (I forgot which one it was) So when she was at home with her mom, she says Andeson residence. I know it's really just an inconsistency but yeah. XD

Maybe they took the last names from the MiXX manga? Because I do remember they have "Lita Kino" and "Mina Aino" in my manga.

I'm an old Sailor Moon fan. I have been a fan since 1995. I think I mentioned this before on this board on another topic. Anyway, yes, I knew of these for ages, but I thought of bringing it up since I was looking at them the other day. Oh well. Guess I better request for topic deletion. But hey, it is funny. Laughing brings joy to the soul, and things that are so incorrect they make you laugh are funny.

Oh yeah they did have those names in the English manga. And Darien's last name is Shields in it. Darien Shields sounds like a soap opera star's name or something.Maybe they took the last names from the MiXX manga? Because I do remember they have "Lita Kino" and "Mina Aino" in my manga.

I have no idea what Darien means, but shields are things used to protect, and Mamoru's personal name in the Japanese version means "to protect." I find it rather fitting that MiXX gave him a family name, at least, that fit with that idea. Even if it doesn't have to do with protecting the Earth, he still protects ordinary people and the Sailor Senshi, not only as the good guy Tuxedo Mask but also when he's Evil Endymion.

I don't know. It sounds like a soap opera character name to me.Sailor Moon wrote:I love the name Darien Shields. It sounds so wonderful and handsome. It has such a fantastic, lovely sound to it.
When those first came out I was tempted to get them but didn't because of the high price and the fact that they were so thin. The pictures were nice but I wasn't sure it was worth it. I'm kinda glad I didn't pick those up now.

Okay, you know what? We don't care. Plain and simple. We already went through this with Sailor Moon. DO NOT state over and over how much you love darien and serena. The fact that you like them is COMPLETELY irrelavent to this topic, and just about any others save for a "favorite characters" topic, which I don't even think exists. The point is, LAY OFF, or you'll be banned. I'm not dealing with this again.Moon girl wrote:Well ME TO OK

O.o Looking at Rainbow's avatar, I have realized just how freakishly large Taiki's forehead really is...
And I have four of those guides. All but Moon's, in fact (about which I don't give a damn)

favorite SENSHI, not character. I said CHARACTER, meaning any character in sailor moon, but not limited to the sailor senshi, which that topic is.Rainbow wrote:There IS a favorite/least favorite Senshi topic, and it's right here:Tiff wrote: just about any others save for a "favorite characters" topic, which I don't even think exists.
