Sailor Moon Haters

My brother pisses me off so much. He hates Sailor Moon so much for no good reason. I know he's entitled to his opinion, but I really don't appreciate him telling me "Sailor Moon sucks," and "Tuxedo Mask is gay and raped all her friends," everytime I'm watching it.

Do you guys know what I'm talking about? How can I solve this problem. Everytime he sees me watching her, he always has something to say.

He's just baiting you to see you get angry. Just ignore him and he's probably going to get bored after awhile. If that doesn't work, just take Parakiss' advice.

Ah, I'm familiar with this problem. I have a brother and father that do the same.

Help, huh? Hmm, is your brother older or younger than you? If he's younger, do what older bro's do best: Kick his ass. MAKE him respect you and your stuff. Worked for me, but not my older bro. Yeah, I'm a middle child, but, back to the matter at hand.

If he is older, why not humiliate him? Set him up for embaressment from his friends, or better, your parents.

Just a few ideas to help you out.

Ummm... I was kidding. Please, no one beat up their little brother over that. The best thing to do is just ignore them. My parents hate it, my brother hates it, everyone in my family hates it. I just don't care. They don't have to like it, so I just ignore them.

Wow, that sounds tough. My little brother likes it at least. It's just that everytime I'm watching it, he mysteriously appears out of nowhere and always has something to say.

Then there are my cousins. They're my brother's followers to the end. One of them agreed with everything he said and then tried to watch it with me the next day. I kicked him out so fast!

It's just so damn annoying, you know?

My whole family hates it too. When I got the R boxset, my brother says to me "How are you going to explain these DVDs to a potential boyfriend?"
It's like
a) There's no chance of me getting a boyfriend
and
b) If he doesn't like them, tough.

Just ignore him. It doesn't really matter if your family likes it or not. Or you could always try and watch Sailor Moon when he's not around so you don't have to listen to his comments.

Ah, the world of Anti-Sailor Moon fans, brings back memories. Well, let me just say a good number of those who make their suckage shrines might be a bit emotionally disturbed, and feel insecured about the show and feel like they need to release their hate on the internet. ''Hell On TV'' is a good example of that. The moron is basically a Hentai-lover and says that Sailor sux cuz it doesn't have any sex scenes. He also says that it's predictable, the characters are sterotypical, and that he's seen the Japanese version with subs, and says it's much worser, but if he has seen it, why does he keep refering to Usagi as Serena? My favorite comment ''it's a little girls show''. He stated the Anime shouldn't be about bows, but about violence and rape. A good number of SM flamers posted unintelligent post, but there was this kind person enough to ask why he disliked it so much, and that if he gave it chance it could think it was OK or possibly good. But know, he dismissed us as ''people with no lifes that don't know what anime is''.

But then again, he did mention SOS on their ''Worst Sites'' around. I really don't see what's the point of Anti-shrines, some can be hilarous, but others to drop-dead stupid.

Now I'm reminded of that evil Sailor Moon and the 7 Balls thing (kids do not watch this as it is Hentai). *coughs* Anyway, there's this one friend of a friend I talk to occassionally on MSN when I'm bored and he has no tact at all. He always bashes every anime that I like that he doesn't, he thinks he knows Japanese when he doesn't know diddly-squat (what kind of phrase is "Konnicha, genki?") and he brags about all the anime he's seen even though he's only seen the dub stuff that's been on tv, but of course he's the stereotypical Dragonball Z fan, so that's kind of expected. Still, it annoys me whenever he makes that gag emoticon on MSN whenever I tell him I just bought a shoujo anime DVD or manga. The best thing to do is ignore people like this as best you can.

Besides, did you ever stop to think that perhaps he doesn't give a damn about it, but his statements piss you off, so he DELIBERATELY says them?
Take my brother...he couldn't care less about the show. But he used to make fun of it just to get me going. when I stopped listening, he stopped teasing. It's just a stupid way to make you mad. It's not the end of the world.

1) o_O; people make shrines about why they hate a show becuase they know it gets to people, not becuase they're emotionally disturbed. Also, he has just as much right to release his hate as you do to release your love. And how on earth does a show make someone insecure?
2) Nothing wrong with being a Hentai-lover..and if he doesn't like sailor moon becuase there's no sex, that's his perogative.
3) It IS predictable...the characters ARE stereotypical...it's all true. I may love the show, but it's quite generic when it all comes down to it.
4) Um..maybe he refers to her as Serena becuase he's seen both versions and doesn't give a crap about calling her by her original name? Just becuase he's seen the sub doesn't mean he has to go by those names.

Yes, most of his arguments sound idiotic, but it's just hypocritical to attack someone who hates the show after complaining about them attacking someone who loves it.

I do think I went a little-off with that post, but still you missed some the things I said.

1) Yes, I'm aware that has the same right to speak his opinion off, but how if he isn't going to do it civil. While reciving tons have hate mail of SM fans, who could do nothing but scream and say that the show rocked, there was someone kind enough to ask him why does he hate the show, and that probably if he gave it a chance and not totally dimiss it. But no, because she/he was a fan, he had to dimiss.

2) He labled those who DO like the show as ''people who have no lifes'' or ''don't know a good descent anime''? Do you think that he is still speaking his opinon off like the rest of us?

3) What I mean about emotionally disturbed people, are those who quickly make Anti-shrine, and post no descent reason for hating SM or any character, just bad mouth it. ''SM sux, SM sux, worst anime ever, it blows''.

4) I'm sorry, while the fact it could be predictable at times, and the characters can be very stereotypical, I will have to disagree with you. I bet the average person would've expected Usagi to FINALLY find her love, and live a happy ending, but that wasn't the case, I'm sure it was a total shocker that THEY were reincarnated again, and knew nothing about their meeting.

1) The internet is free domain, and there are far worse things on the internet to worry about, such as identity theft and criminals who prey on little girls. The fact that someone online is using the internet as a tool for channeling his hate over a TV show is hardly my greatest concern, but it is still his right to do so.

2) Why yes, yes I do believe he is speaking his opinion. If he thinks I have no life, THAT'S HIS OPINION. I know I have a life, so it doesn't bother me. Why on earth should I care about what someone I don't know thinks of me simply because I watch Sailor Moon?

3) ....How does not posting a reason make one emotionally disturbed? Rape victims are emotionally disturbed. Those born with chemical imbalances are emotionally disturbed. Child abuse victims, spousal abuse victims, etc...not someone who doesn't post a decent reason for hating something. Besides, you don't have to have a reason for not liking something. It may not be someone's taste.

4) *Shrug* that's your opinion..and guess what? It doesn't bother me. Imagine that.

Hmm, I don't have any siblings (I have two dogs who fight like real human sisters...but they don't count) and I have the lucky chance of my parents (especially my mom) liking/accepting my interest in anime, but here's my advice...
1) For one thing, DON'T physically attack your brother, that will just get you in trouble and also makes Sailor Moon/anime fans look bad.

2) I don't know you or your brother personally, but it sounds like he wants to annoy you on purpose. I found (from my own experience) that people who do that get shocked out of teasing you if you're nice to them. Try being nice to him, or if it doesn't work, tease him back playfully, maybe say "Sailor Moon wants to go on a date with you" or something like that.

Actually, no, you probably shouldn't do the last thing, that's just a last resort idea.

Hmm, my older brother makes fun of....everything I do or watch. When I started to get into Sailor Moon again, and I was buying the dub DVDs of the first season (whiles ago before the sub release) well, he didn't want to be seen with me

No discount on girl DVDs when he worked at Best Buy, only bloody stuff -___- He would make fun of me for spending so much, and said I was being stupid...Somehow, I did what I had to do my whooooooole life.

Ignore him. That is all you can do. Even if he is little, you have to ignore it. Hurting him will give him a chance to fake cry and get you in a heap load of trouble. Eventually, he will catch the drift that you don't give a rats behind of his opinion. Good luck ^_^

well at least you dont have to deal with my stepmom. she actually forbid me from watching it for several months because she hates it and i do mean hate it
