Favorite Sailor Moon movie

Post by Neo Dead Moon » Wed Jan 21, 2004 4:11 pm

What's your favorite of the three Sailor Moon movies? Mine's the Sailor Moon R movie. Not only did I feel it was the most Sailor Moon-ish of the three movies (even more so than S, the only movie AFAIK based on the manga), but it had some of the most memorable scenes in the series of Sailor Moon. The part where Sailor Moon turned into Princess Serenity, and all the other Sailor Senshi backed her up, while "Moon Revenge" played in the background, is perhaps my favorite part. There was also the hilarious scene where Ami questioned whether or not Mamoru likes men.

It's unfortunate that none of the humor was kept in the dub -_-

Neo Dead Moon:
Don't start a topic and then fail to explain your reasoning for something. I'm getting so tired of people starting topics with content consisting of one or two sentences. If you like R, EXPLAIN why you like R.
If this continues, I will lock these sorts of topics.

My favorite is a tie between R and S. I love the tender moments in R, although Fiore and his damn Kisenian blossom make me want to tear my hair out...they annoy me. As for S, I love Luna's story and the fact that there's something that centralizes around her feelings. Plus, we get to see human Luna, and that's wonderful. S also has some very funny moments, and the outers kick ass in it ^^

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I like both R and S (hate SuperS). I really felt sorry for Fiore in R and I liked the romantic moments. I liked Luna's crush on Kakeru in S and when she became human (it was weird in the dub though, with her old British lady voice).
I am a loser!

I like R, but mostly because Kunihiko Ikuhara was the director. I love S most of all. It's sweet and makes me want to go out and cuddle someone at the end... even if they are a plushie and will never love you back. ::huggles her Vash plush::

hmmmm.....this is a tough question. I like all the movies. SuperS had that really cute quality and storyline. Seeing all the senshi as children was a treat.

I would have to say I liked S best. I love the story from Vol. 11 of the manga. It transitioned very well to the big screen. Seeing Luna as a human and falling in love was just so precious. Snow Dancers and a villian of ice. I love winter.

the story really seemed to flow and no matter how much was going on it just was never too much. To me it was the one movie that seemed to fit right along with the series because it was one of Naoko's side stories.

Advice: this is one movie that is best subbed. Nanny voice Luna falling for a young man just sounds wrong on many levels. Tiff-sama: I went back and reread the review on SMU for this one and I have to agree with the SDA. Although, I thought it was lamas breathing she was doing on that hill. I could be wrong.

I'm between R and S. Ultimatley I would have to say...umm...I'll just go with S because most people said R.

S has a great storyline, I love the ginzishou scene, and it was touching. It made me cry in two parts, and it was a sweet romance mixed with humor and action.

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

My favorite out of the Sailor Moon movies is the R movie. It has the best plot and music. The movie is paced well, too, so you never feel the time go by even though it's only 60 minutes long. I also love the attack sequences of the Sailor Senshi as they look really awesome. The main thing I was dissappointed with the most in this movie is the ending, which is rather cliched and predictable to me, although Moon Revenge is a really cool song.

The S movie is my least favorite because I feel it's too slow moving. I like something that's fast-paced with a good balance of action, story, romance, and character development and the S movie doesn't cut it for me. I also didn't see the importance of Princess Snow Kaguya in the movie. I think it could've worked well without her, as it seems her only purpose there is to give the Sailor Senshi a reason to appear and fight. I did like the romance thing with Luna and Kakeru, though.

I first saw the Supers movie dubbed before I saw the sub and for awhile it was at the bottom of my list of which Sailor Moon movies where my favorite. However, when I finally saw the sub of it, I started to like it even more than the S movie. While you can explain the plot in just one sentence, it still has some really good animation. The opening credits with the chibi-Sailor Senshi is just too cute to resist and it's one of the few times Chibi-usa doesn't annoy me. The ending theme song is really cute, too.

I haven't sat down and watched all 3 recently, so I'll go with the S movie, because that was my first glimpse into the "outer" soldiers, and into how cool both they and their music is.

Foolish, I know, but hey, I shelled out $30 for that bootleg way back when, and it was worth it :P

The endings to each of the seasons of Sailor Moon were always something I felt were kind of predictable and needed to be redone, aside from the ending to the first season which I thought was perfectly done. I mean, you might as well stop watching the R movie after the whole scene with Princess Serenity using the Silver Cyrstal because you know what's going to happen.

The SuperS movie is my favorite!
1) Chibi-Usa-sama is the star!
2) It has my favorite of the movie songs, Sanji no Yosei (the one where the kids sing about a candy land).
3) I like the scenes and information about how the Senshi were as kids.
4) Great Moon family interaction.
5) I like the candy-based plot and characters (Marzipan Castle, Bon-Bon Babies, etc.)

I like the other two, but this one's my favorite.

Sanji no Yosei is cute. Even the translated lyrics. The whole 3 o'clock fairy thing I thought to be a very magical thought. Which does explain after school snacks.

The SuperS movie was actually the first Sailor Moon movie I ever saw. My friend let me borrow his tape of the rest of the R season. (this was like 1997) and it had the SuperS movie on it. Only he didn't tell me that the entire tape was raw. So I had no idea why Chibi-usa was in a sailor fuku or what in the blazes was going on the entire rest of the R season. It was still entertaining though, and I figured out some of the words by the end of the tape. that movie still has a soft place in my heart because of that.

I've only seen S subbed, but I have seen all 3. When I first saw them, R was at the bottom of my list because I thought the whole Fiore/Darien thing was weird, but I watched it again, and it moved up to second on my list. Now, I think it's my favorite. It's a very pretty movie, and I love the story and emotions. Even in the dub, I think a lot of the emotion was kept (tho when I first saw it, I was a bit confused as to why Moon got all emotional over her friends, because I forgot that they had DIED once already recently). I would LOVE to own this movie subbed. But the dub did give me one of my FAVORITE lines...Venus saying incredulously "He got OUT!!" like it was the most miraculous thing in the world the Tuxedo Mask figured something out on his own. Plus, both "Power of Love" and "Moon Revenge" are kickass songs. I own the other two movies, S subbed, but they aren't really all that great. I hate the shape of the crystal in the S movie. But I love the music that plays during Moon's attack. I like the 3'o clock fairy song in SuperS.

Yeah. Leave it to Toei to run low on ideas for their anime. I can imagine now what the script writers were thinking while working on this movie...

Sailormoon SuperS Movie Writer #1: I know! Let's cross Sailormoon with the Pied Piper and Pinochhio! Let's have Chibi-Usa be captured on a giant ship into the sky and have Sailormoon and the others have to come rescue her, or the Earth will be doomed...again!

Sailormoon SuperS Movie Writer #2: Why the heck not?

(The SuperS Movie is BORN.)

Not that I have anything against the SuperS movie..but compared to R and S, it's pretty average (although it does have great animation and some ADORABLE scenes with Usagi-tachi as little kids).[/i]

The music for all 3 is great, that's one thing I like about them all. :D Otherwise, the R movie is my favorite. I thought the story was the best and they seemed to give all of the senshi more or less equal camera time, which was nice.

I do have to give the S movie some credit though - when I saw it back when the last part of Sailor Moon R still hadn't been shown on US TV yet, I saw a subtitled version of the S movie. The first shocker was seeing "Rini" as a sailor senshi and then seeing Uranus, Pluto, and Neptune. Also the music and everything was so different! That's when I realized that there was more to Sailor Moon than I was seeing in the English dub. I began to research it online and.... well, I'm sure you know the rest.

My favorite was R. Despite Mamoru being a huge focus and I don't like him in the anime, the story was great. As was the rather dramatic ending with Moon Revenge, one of my favorite anime songs ever.

Then comes SuperS.. I don't know exactly why I like it so much. It's really.. cute. Especially Chibi-Usa and Peruru, and the intro of the senshi as kids. It also had the best animation and art out of all of the Sailormoon anime.

And finally S. I like this too but not as much as the others. I'm glad it was similar to the manga volume that it was based on, and not given a complete overhaul. The S movie is also the firstSailormoon anime that I saw in Japanese. It was my favorite until I saw R subbed (I'd only seen R dubbed at the time, and boy did the sub make a huger impact)

I like both the R and S movies. The R movie because it gives meaning to Mamoru's personality, and the S movie because Luna's harmless little crush on Kakeru. That's about as close as you can get to an animal loving a human without having get....disgusting. :P And because of the fact it was just so damn cute!

I have yet to see the SuperS movie, but I want it so badly!

Super S Movie, all the way! I find it rather amusing to watch, and it did have a touching ending.
