The Moon Kitties

Post by Rainbow » Wed Jan 21, 2004 6:08 am

So, what do you think of each of the three cats who help the Sailor Senshi and give them advice?

Luna: She's my favorite. Has the most interesting voices (Japanese and NA), she's cute and sarcastic, she has an interesting love story, and she's surprisingly resilient, considering who she puts up with (Usagi)

Artemis: I think he was created to be the underdog cat, in a way. His relationship with Luna seems to place him being more like Usagi and Luna more like Rei or Mamoru, which is rather interesting. He kind of reminds me of the henpecked husbands in the American comic strips. I don't dislike him, but he's not a favorite.

Diana: Sure, she's cute, but I don't like her that much. Okay, the reason I don't like her is in the ninja Usagi episode, Mamoru was writing a school paper. Then the lemures started attacking, and he was going to go help, but Diana told him to keep writing his paper! Bad cat! I will say this for her, though, she does have some funny lines, and I do like how she'll often speak the truth that the others are too embarrassed/polite to mention, like about Minako being a two-timer.

I suppose that Luna is my favorite of the three cats, simply because her interactions with Usagi especially in the first season can be very cute and amusing and I think her mother-daughter like relationship with Usagi is sweet.

I suppose I like Artemis and Diana too, just because they are really funny. The episode in SuperS where Diana first appears is hilarious.

Artemis has always been my favorite, and is the only one I find humorous in both the English and Japanese version.

Luna was great in the first season (in original Japanese, of course), but after that, she did...nothing. Seriously. I like her almost as much as Artemis, but aside from the S movie, she does NOTHING after they find Sailorvenus (except give the Inner Senshi the ability to transform again in R, and Merucry, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus's upgraded transformations). Nothing, I tell ya. Too bad...I loved her interaction with Usagi.

I never liked Diana. I always found her annoying, and aside from two or three episodes in SuperS, she never had much time to really do much of anything...

Favorite: Luna. She's cute, sarcastic, spunky, and shows her emotions (happiness, sadness, and anger). She's always amused me, and she has some hilarious lines. Of course, I'm strictly speaking of the Japanese version only. Dubbed Luna can kiss my ass.

Artemis is allright..he has some funny moments. As for Diana..she's cute and all, but she's kinda pointless, IMO.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Luna is my favorite. She's especially funny when she threatens to claw Usagi in the face. The S movie really made me love her more. I like Artemis, but don't really care for Diana. She annoyed me sometimes in SuperS.

My favorite has to be Luna. She's a wide range of emotions all piled in one. I love her in the anime, but I feel like she's better showcased in the manga because she is so much more connected to Usagi there.

Artemis is hilarious. comic relief. I feel for him and how Luna in the anime treats him. Actually I feel for him in the manga too. Especially that time that he was looking at Minako showering and Diana told Luna. If I were Luna, I'd probably have whacked him too. Seriously though, I think that the connection and partnership he has with Minako is just awesome in both.

Diana is a mystery. I like her, but I really can never seem to learn much about her to have a complete opinion. She's innocent, but bruetly honest. She completely fits being Chibi-usa's kitten.

they all look awesome in human form. I'm just sorry that we only get to see them in that form in the manga (Aside from Luna in the S movie) That and in the last series of the manga we finally get to learn more about their history (even if it's not much). that would have been awesome in the anime.

My question in the couple's thread is still unanswered. Exactly how old is Diana suppose to be portraying? In the manga when she's in human form, she's got a good sized chest and figure. I thought she was a little girl. Did I totally miss something?

*shrug* I honestly think that's just the way Naoko draws things. Look at some artbook pics of Chibiusa and Chibi-chibi sometime. THEY have breasts. And chibiusa's legs are ridiculous for her age. It's just her drawing style.

I like Luna the best. She's sarcastic, witty, intelligent, and just fun to watch. She's also drawn cute in the manga, IMO.

Artemis is comedic sometimes (like the evil animal kingdom episode) but I just don't like him too much.

Like Tiff, I find Diana rather pointless in the anime. In the manga it's a different story, but since I'm too lazy to put a spoiler tag on, read R to find out why.

I never liked any of the cats that much. I guess it's either Luna or Diana. I'm leaning more towards Luna though. They're both cute and funny. And Luna has some good sarcastic lines.
*shrug* I honestly think that's just the way Naoko draws things. Look at some artbook pics of Chibiusa and Chibi-chibi sometime. THEY have breasts. And chibiusa's legs are ridiculous for her age. It's just her drawing style.
Chibi-Usa and Chibi Chibi having breasts in some pics is really funny to me. It just is. (In the manga version, I know Chibi-Usa is over 900 and her growth is stunted, but still XD)

I like Artemis the best because I think he's the funniest of the cats. Luna was pretty good too, but she's so useless in the later seasons like someone else said and Diana really gets on my nerves.

...and Artemis was particularily useful? lol. I think they all kind of lose their usefullness past, like, S. You see less and less of them, and they just kind of..hang around.

In my opinion, the cats really lose a lot of their usefullness after the first 3/4 of the classic season. By then, the senshi have all been located and begin to sort everything out themselves. Perhaps the cats were left in after that for entertinment?

Not really. In the beginning of R (or rather, the "doom tree" arc-I don't remember the official name of the damn tree.), she gives Sailor Moon her memories back, and she is rather helpful in explaining a lot of new powers..such as the Spiral Heart Moon Rod in S. She and Artemis both explain that to Mamoru and Usagi when it appears.

Arigato gozaimazu, Tiffu-san, for correcting me ^_^. I hadn't been thinking of the rest of BSSM when I made that post.

By the way, I have always heard it called in both the Japanese and English versions the Doom Tree. I couldn't really give an official name to that part of the R series, though.

Makaiju Tree, seen translated as "hell tree" or "tree of evil".
