Carry On did fit the scene well, but as the song its self, I dont admire it much. I love MD. 8)

I prefer Carry On for I guess every reason already stated. Plus I'm not crazy about the DALI version of Moonlight Densetsu anymore. But the actual battle and dialogue was much better in the Japanese.

I kinda like both for different reasons. Moonlight Densetsu has nice lyrics and Carry On has a fast beat. Now if they could only combine the two...

Like Moonlight Densetsu's tune, and a combination of Carry On and Moonlight Densetsu (English translation) for the words?

I prefer "Moonlight Densetsu." The song just flows with the movements so well, and I think it fits the mood perfectly. Usagi wasn't fighting that battle just to kick some ass, she was fighting that battle for love and friendship, and so a song about love and friendship suits the moment well. I tear up every time I watch that episode, at the moment when the spirits of the senshi stand behind Usagi, the song picks up perfectly. ;_;

As far as "Carry On" goes, I like the instrumentals, but the lyrics are just too corny in some parts. The message that the lyrics portray fit the dubs final battle, but I really think they could have phrased it better.

Serena: Hey look! I'm winning against Beryl! The background music says so!
Beryl: Background music? What are you…??
Serena: Cosmic Moon Power!!
Beryl: Damn it, kid! Your flashy crystal thing is blinding me! [/insane randomness]

I personally don't mind Carry On though I like Moonlight Densetsu better.

There, that's why I prefer Moonlight Densetsu... for that scene, that is. As an opening, it was nice, but they could have made 5 different openings (like for Ojamajo Doremi, if you've heard, though not all are of equal quality they're pretty neat), or change it more.

But as a battle song, I'll agree with what was said about Usagi fighting for love and friendship and not to kick ass. I'd go further: Usagi wouldn't have fought if she could have avoided it, and maybe that's why the song isn't battle-ish. Maybe that was to show that she cared more about love than battle, hence, she didn't feel she was "battling" but more hmm... how can I say, healing the world, you know, something like that.

So maybe the non-battling-aspect-of-the-song was on purpose (we know "they" can make battle songs, you guys mentioned them ^^ )

*reads post, hoping the point was clear... ^^;; yeah, I know, I worry too much sometimes o.O

I think Moonlight Densetsu was more appropriate for the scene, especially given Usagi's final wish. The lyrics reflect that, and I think that's really sweet.

THREAD RESSURECTION!

I personally liked Moonlight Destenu better than Carry On. The lyrics to Carry On were so corny until they got to "Give me the strength to Carry On!" The opening guitar solo was really cool though, until they get to "Here I'm standing in the night!" Yeah, we can clearly see you are doing just that.

Also, Carry On just wasn't a long enough song. If I were to put it over the orignal version it would end before the battle did.

Lastly, for some reason, I just love it when the opening song of an anime plays during the last episode. (Not including the opening credits)

So Moonlight Destenu for me.

Moonlight Densetsu. I fell in love with it the very first time I heard it.
