Well, I can't really tell from their description. Is it raw Japanese or is it with English subtitles? If it's with English subtitles, it's most definetly a bootleg as no official subbed version of Sailor Stars has been licensed yet. If it's raw in Japanese, it could possibly be a legitmate copy of some sort. Since it came from Ebay, most likely it'll be bootleg. You'd be pretty lucky if you could get a legitmate boxset at that cheap of a price.

The guy said they are in US VHS format, and are subtitled. Might be a bootleg, but what about the artwork?
Anyway, I saw two bootleg DVD of Sailor Stars.
One Sailor Star has four dvds with it. About $40
One has six dvds and they say are better than the 4 dvd set, because the four dvd set has a loss of quality. $80
I look around and saw this VHS set for only $25, and got this.
No point in pay $40 or $70 something for a bootleg "SailorStars" if
somebody new like Geneon, might be able to bring out Sailor Stars on dvd in North America.
I am not sure if it is a bootleg, because of the art work.

I can assure you, they are bootlegs. Including the DvDs. My DvDs were bootlegged from Mayalisa [I too, bought them from a seller on Ebay. Very nice quality, I might add]. The artwork has little or nothing to go with legitimacy of the product. Bootlegs use artbook images and screencaptures for their products to look more appealing to the customer. Just because something uses offical artwork, doesn't mean that the products itself is offical. As Takato said, the SailorStars season is not licensed by an American company.
The VHS tapes are likey from a FanSubtitle distribution, while the DvDs are likely manufactured imports/bootlegs.

And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Stars to be licensed in the US. ADV probably won't bother since they know they aren't on our side these days. If Pioneer can get the rights in Japan, they may have a shot. But I'm not holding out.
I don't know about the 6 DVD set. The 4 DVD set is pretty good quality, since there's 1 language track and no extras. No engrish subtitling(some goofs, no worse than pioneer's mistakes). Anywhere from 8 to 10 episodes per disc. Very nice packaging.
I have an old thread here
with scans of the packaging and discs.

I'm gonna say it's a bootleg, too. Firstly because the quality is only B+, and secondly because the (hand lettered) Roman Numerals on the tape cases are backwards. That is, 1 is on the right. Putting them in correct order would scramble the pictures horribly.
On a side note, I got my VHS bootlegs of the VKLL Stars off of ebay as well, 9 tapes for $40, but they just came in cardboard tape boxes. A friend of mine bought blank black tape cases for me for my birthday, and I put the LD covers on the fronts and titles and translator notes on the back. They look really good in my opinion.

I think it's a bootleg, too. I bought the Sailor Moon Stars season on DVD from ebay. Cost me about $30, I think. There was 11 or 12 discs, with 3 episodes per disc.
Some episodes had great quality and sound. Others just had the complete opposite. But I don't care if it's bootlegged or not, because Sailor Moon Stars probably won't be shown in the U.S.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
