SM Manga vs. Anime
Moderators: SMU Staff, SMU Chibi-Mods
Classic- Manga. I like both but the manga is more interesting. I especially liked the background stories of Beryl, Endymion & Serenity. I really wish the anime had been closer to the manga.
Romance- Manga. Again I like both but the manga is better.
Super- Manga. The Outers are much better in the manga.
S Movie: Tie they are both really good stories.
SuperS: Manga. The anime was good and all but it had too much filler for me.
Stars: Tie. Both the Manga and the Anime are done beautifully.

Remember, every downhill has its uphill.
Classic: Manga. I loved the anime, but it had too much filler and had too many episodes centered around Naru and Umino, whom I don't care for. The manga told the story better.
R: Anime. Again I liked both, but I found the anime to make more sense.
S: Tie. They're both very different stories, and they're both work very well on their own.
SuperS: Manga, by far. Anime had way too much filler and lacked the outer senshi.
Stars: I'd have to say the anime because I haven't read the manga yet. It's on my to do list, I swear.

Classic: Manga. The anime had far too much filler with the rainbow crystals and such.
R: That's hard for me to decide. I'd have to say manga because of the filler about the doom tree part.
S: I'd have to say anime. It's straightforword, unlike previous seasons where there was a lot of filler.
SuperS: Definately manga. I was really disappointed that the outer senshi didn't appear in this season.
Stars: Anime because I haven't read all the manga yet.

Here is another one of those topics where I was certain I had a post...HMMM.
Anyway, I've only seen the anime of C,R, and S, so I can't comment on those, tho I think I'd like the S manga better than the anime.
As for SuperS vs Dream...I'm not really sure. I *highly* dislike how similar Sailor Moon's story is to Sleeping Beauty, and to me, Nehelania wasn't nearly as interesting as she was in the anime. I also dislike Pegasus/Helios in the manga. A LOT. He's drawn so poorly. However, Chibi-Usa's story was much sadder in the manga than in the anime, and the Amazoness Quartet were awesome. Hmmm. It's hard to say. Stars...I think the...manga...is a little better. Again, there's lots of things I like in the anime more than the manga (the Animamates, for example) and vice versa (Amazoness Quartet), but as a whole, I think the manga is better.

I haven't really read any of the manga, but from what I seen, I find it better then what's presented in the anime. The characters are also well-developed too, especially the Outer-Planet Soldiers, who didn't get any development besides the S season. I'll try to read it before I make a overall opinion, though.

Classic-Manga. The anime started off good, but after they found the crystal, it was all filler until the last three episodes. Plus Beryl is shown to not be truely evil in the manga (
poor poor Beryl-sama)
R-Manga. No Ail and Ann filler arc, plus I like how in the manga Sailor Moon is less forgiving, especially when she kills the Ayakashi sisters. Plus Pluto is more useful and interesting.
S-Manga. Saturn is my favorite Senshi and she's much more cooler and darker in the manga. Plus Pluto, who's my second fav., is more developed and interesting (i.e. She has a life!). The one thing I didn't like about it is that Tomoe dies, I'm glad he lived in the anime. Oh yeah, and Sailor Moon didn't HAND THE FREAKIN' GRAIL TO MISTRESS 9!!
SS-Tie. I love the Amazon Trio and was glad that they were included for half the season. But the manga is very good too. I love Ami's and Rei/Mina's exam battles (Mako's was pretty blah). Plus the outer senshi make a cute family (and Setsuna's funny when she hears Hotaru break the dishes ~_^).
Stars-Manga. Haven't seen a lot of the anime yet, but I just don't like the Starlights as guys. That and I don't like Galaxia in the anime, she kicks a shite load more ass in the manga.
I also prefer the manga senshi to the anime senshi. In the manga I like all of them a lot, their isn't one character I hate. But in the anime, they're just changed so much that they can get annoying at times.

I've finally read all of the manga volumes ^^
Classic: Manga. The ending battle with Beryl felt too rushed to me, and I like how the senshi were introduced in the manga.
R: Manga. Pluto's death is such a tear-jerker. And she's my favorite character! T___T
S: Anime. I thought that the storyline was very well done, and after seeing some of subbed S, I have gained much more respect for Haruka-san.
SS: Manga. I prefer the Amazoness Quartet as senshi, and there was too much Chibi-Usa in the anime.
Stars: Haven't seen the anime, so I have to go with manga.

SMC: I like the manga better, the artwork is beautiful, the story is more developed, and there seems to be a greater intensity to the emotion and fight scenes. My first copy of the Vol. 2 manga was in japanese, which I can't read, but I knew what was going on and the pictures alone made me teary-eyed.
SMR: I like the manga and anime equally, dunno why I just do.
SMS: I like the anime better in this series, story doesn't go quite as fast.
SMSS: I read some of the manga from this series but I have not seen the anime so I can't really decide.
SMStars: Hard to say becase while I really enjoyed the manga, I found the story overall to be rushed, but I loved the mangas ending. And while I loved the anime, I was a little disappointed in the ending. I guess from all the years and all the hype I was expecting something really spectacular, and I was probably expecting a similar ending to the manga. So I guess with those factors weighed it will have to be a tie.

SMC-manga, the characters pasts are way more developed, the story moves along better, and Beryl is portrayed as human, not a demon, I always wondered what her deal was in the anime, 'til I read the manga.
SMR-manga, just because, like many others have said Pluto plays a bigger part, in the anime she's probably not even in it 10 minutes altogether!
SMS-manga, the story moves faster, the series in my opinion has waay too much filler, for some reason this season always seemed to have more filler than the others, I dunno, guess it's just me.
SMSS-manga, although, believe or not, so far compared to the other seasons I'd say it was about the closest to a tie so far, because I like the SuperS anime, but I think, like S, SuperS had a lot of filler, the first half anyway, I love the second half.
SM Stars-anime, although I think the manga goes deaper into the story in a lot of ways, I find the anime more enjoyable because it has more fun memorable moments, and unlike previous seasons, I think the anime could use more filler! I think the filler in stars were much more enjoyable than in previous seasons!

StarS vs. Sailor Stars
I think that the manga Stars was better than the anime. Alot of things were left out in the anime (ex. Galaxy Cauldron, Senshi Stars forms, the other Sailor Animates, etc...)

*mod mode* That there is. Topic merged. */mod*Artemis wrote:...I think that there's already a topic for comparing manga to anime, isn't there?
*nitpick* The manga didn't have anything tacked on to the end, Mixx just added those on. The manga was just BSSM, so there is no difference between StarS and Sailor Stars.I think that the manga Stars was better than the anime. Alot of things were left out in the anime (ex. Galaxy Cauldron, Senshi Stars forms, the other Sailor Animates, etc...)
Also, as has been brought up in another topic, the senshi don't actually change in Stars. While their fukus are different, it remains "Crystal Power Make-up" throughout the Dead Moon and Galaxia arcs.

I'm new here and this seems like a good place to start off ^.^
lets see...
Classic - Anime minus all the fillers, i wish they would have kept the Senshi as strong as they were instead of being so weak except a few eppis thats centered around that chara(to which of course they can strangely defeat the monster of the day) and i in the manga the chara's are developed a bit more than "Yup i'm a crybaby""i'm a Genius""I'm a bitchy priestess""I'm a huge tomboy" "i came out of nowhere" thing they had goin on.
Season R - Had Plutos death been given to screen, it would have been the saddest moment in SM History, i cried to the manga(yes i'm just that emo) and i believe it was simply perfect for progressing the Chara of Chibiusa(whom since you see soo much more of her it would make sense to make her seem compassionate to her best friend) so i gotta say Manga
Season S - Outers of the Manga but the anime has good times too, and WHO DOESNT LOVE Mistress 9?(shortest one)
Season SuperS - Anime, Only because i havent read the manga for this season the whole way through, and i love the Amazoness Quartet, they're hilarious in every way possible, but the idea of them becoming Senshi instead of normal humans is great too and i wish it was kept since we're stuck with the pink spore the entire way through
Ahh and now the beloved Stars - MANGA! By far! I Dont care for the Starlights and i dont know, but even watching the Anime in my opinion it seems like they just werent meant to be such major chara's(although Yaten is hot for an anime guy
) I dont like how they change from females to males, because it just seems like the dream of horomonal teens everywhere to change into a hot super-idol and have to beat the women away with a stick.
The whole Seiya/Usagi thing, uuuuh... No. Usagi has a man, we've stuck by him this long, not changing anytime soon.(although he IS cuter, it doesnt give him enough points)
Kinmokusei(sp?) story, i loved it, you always hear "Aliens from space" as evil creatures who wanna eat us, but this gave the people from another world, who suffer as we do, love, hate, ect. and plus the development of Kakyuu(sp?) and making her a sailor senshi too who(atleast according to the Anime) can also heal a Phage much like SM can.
However, the ending confused me and i had to re-read, an Anime ending in the Manga instead of Sailor Cosmos appearing out of thin air, i REALLY wanted the stars ending to be like the Beryl Anime ending because it started with a very memorable fight it should have ended with one.. not grabbing her hand and she body kabooms o_o it just seemed like they threw it together with ideas from a hat, not to be picky but i would have much prefered a Beryl style ending compaired to the ending we got(in both anime and manga)
[off topic] I just watched the episode of Uranus and Neptune in season S where they're recalling when Uranus becomes a senshi, i just noticed how the monster turned back into a human after Neptunes attack.. i thought the monsters die from the regular senshis attacks and had to be healed by Moon? damn inconstancies...
But yeah, thats mine ^.^

SM-Anime all the way. The death scenes were so much more emotional and unforgettable, while the manga had no really memorable scenes for me. That's one of the reasons why I still like the anime better, they get many things wrong, but when they get a scene right, it's just so right.
SMR-again Anime, I didn't like the break-up thing, but I liked that the enemies actually had personalities, unlike in the manga.
SMS-tie, I liked the anime all in all, but the characterization of Haruka and Michiru annoyed me, why did they have to be so condescending towards the others. They were much more likable in the manga. I liked the whole irony of them having the talismans in the anime though.
SuperS-Manga. The anime was HORRIBLE! Two episodes or something of plot, other than it, it was just: Random person: "I have a beautiful dream blah blah blah and I'll tell you about it even though you'll NEVER see me again". YAWN.
Stars-Manga, even though it was a confusing mess. I REALLY hated the anime except for the first part with Nehelenia.

SMC: Manga, mainly because it goes into more detail.
SMR: Manga, although I do like that the Ayakashi sisters are spared in the anime. But I HATED the doom tree portion of the anime.
SMS: Tie.
SMSS:I like the manga a little more for the details that were left out in the anime.
SMStars: Tie also.
I do like both manga and anime equally. But IMO the manga is better when it comes to story.
