Sailor Moon R DVD #8 at Best Buy

Post by LilEva » Tue Dec 16, 2003 10:09 am

In the anime section, it was listed as #8 on the best seller list for anime. Not bad, but I bet it would sell better if it wasn't $114.99.

I'm sure it would've sold better if it didn't have all the problems that it has. Though I'm impressed it's sold so much after people saw the first box.

My biggest question is why the audio was sub-par? The S and SuperS disks have the same amount of episodes, ON TOP of quality sound and extras!

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

People have said this a million time before. It's because of crappy masters.

But how did the masters get that way? I don't THINK anyone would purpously abuse masters just because they could. And I don't believe collecting dust could ruin audio, but I could be wrong there ^.^;;

I personally believe the reason why it's in such low quality is because of the material given to ADV, and reading some of the post in my thread, is could be also due to the fact they didn't have the rights to any of the other masters. But, regardless of the video and audio issues, ADV could have ATLEAST try to fix some of the problems. Like some mistranlations (and no, I don't mean ''soilder'' turning into ''warrior'', as they mean the same thing in Japanese), the openings in the wrong place, including the nice trend of glitches.

This is not the thread for discussion of the ADV controversy.

Eh, sorry, but since she asked why are the masters like that, I decided to reply my overally opinion. If you want me to edit the post, just let me know.

It's not just the masters that they were given, (Sorry to continue on with this)
because no matter what masters you get, you can always enhance them, clean them up... etc
did you notice how good the theme song sounded in the menus of the dvd?
if they had spent a little more money on some remastering then we wouldn't have these problems....
BAD ADV! (kicks)
Is that gratitude?

Ok, you're a newbie. But if a chibi-mod or an administrator says to get back on topic, you should get back on topic. By saying "sorry" I know you knew what you were doing. So get back on topic, and don't waste space with an "I'm sorry" post, please.

It's good (for me) to hear that Sailor Moon still holds that kind of popularity. Given the fact that the first box wasn't as good as most fans were hoping, I really thought that the second box would tank. ^_^;

Maybe this will open up an opportunity for a subbed (no dub, dear God please!) DVD Stars release. At least I can hope…

Oh, how naive I can be. -_-;

:nods: please remain on topic. If you wish to vent about the poor quality of the boxsexs, please vent here. I will ask that you do as Jeff suggested; please remain on topic.

And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

The word 'here' is a link. Click it, and it will take you to a topic where you can vent on the quality of the boxes.

My apologies. The link color and the text color are too similar. I added an underline to the link in my post.

DEATH THE THE USURPER!!
I mean -- It's ok ^_^ My internet is acting funky on my mother's business computer [that's also my full time computer] so I probably couldn't be here anyway. It's no biggie.
We just fussed about getting off-topic, so we best get back on track. X_x I'm not sure if Tiff's 'get-back-on-topic' stick has surfaced on this forum yet.

That's okay, Jeff...
CHIBI MODS: if another chibi-mod isn't around, and you see something that should be rectified, go ahead and rectify it. If that person IS around, PM them about it.

And Tiff's off-topic stick is about to have a field day ^_~

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
