SailorMoon RPGs

Post by wsleigh » Wed Nov 26, 2003 1:21 pm

(I hope this isn't a topic repeat but I couldn't find the words SailorMoon RPG anywhere)

I am playing one of those RPGs that is laid out like Mage Knight or Mech Warrior but I decided I was going to used Sailor Senshi to triamph over evil. Is there anyone who has done this before and has sorted out attack strenghs, defence, health, age and/or appearance, for everyone? (or just a few).

Also, is their a RPG book for Stars? I know there is one for R or the original that I once saw but I want a book for S or Stars (in other words I want the outer senshi and if possible the Starlights) and I don't know where to order a RPG book from. I looked through Tokyo Pop and nada.

*ponder* No, I don't think there's one for Stars..in fact, I don't think there are any others besides the one that was released in the U.S. (The role-playing and resource book).

I've roleplayed Sailor Moon before, but I usually roleplay informally, and this one was done through AIM with a friend. It was also done with original characters in the sailor moon world.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Maybe if you wanted to know relative attack strengths, you could watch SailorStars and analyze how strong the Starlights seem to be in comparison to the other Senshi?

A warning with that, though, I think Uranus and Neptune's power gets boosted when they join Galaxia, so them beating Seiya isn't necessarily what would happen if they were all on the same side (no one having the bracelet power ups, that is).

Yes, I only know about the RPGs in video games. Is this in real life? A fanfic? I don't get it. :?:

::ahem, pushes glasses farther up nose:: I'll attempt to explain.

The term RPG can apply to many things. I think the RPG referred to here is a LARP, or Live-Action Role Play. It is played with dice and maybe even a board. It's like a cross between a board game, a play, and a novel. Or something. Think of Dungeons and Dragons.

Online RP can refer to people storyplaying, which is basically a little interactive "story" of sorts. Each person has a character, and writes about his/her interactions with the other characters and the fantasy universe. This can be done over IM or on a large-scale gathering system like Furcadia.

Online RPGs like the ones Tiff and the others are talking about are usually organized by the people participaitng in it. I've never been involved in a so-called "pen-and-paper" RPG - that is, of the kind described in the Sailormoon RPG book, for example - so I'll wait until someone with more knowledge chimes in about it ^^;;

I've been involved in a couple of pen-and-paper campaigns, and those have always been organized by the people involved, too. I own a copy of the Sailormoon RPG book that Guardians of Order released a while back, but I've never been involved in a game that's used it. I'd like to give it a try one of these days.

The book is no longer being published (you might try eBay for a copy), but it does give stats for the Inner Senshi, Tuxedo Kamen, and the villains from the Dark Kingdom, Doom Tree, and Black Moon story arcs. I haven't looked at it in quite a while, but I want to say Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto also have stats in the book. There are instructions for generating stats, however, and I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to generate stats for Chibimoon and the Starlights if someone wanted to do so.

So do you have to be a character that all ready is made or can you create your own like DnD?

Either look some of this up, or PM Ni-ban Neko.

Yes, you can create your own characters. The book tells you everything you need to know about doing it in their system, but you could do so just as well using a character creation system such as Dungeons and Dragons'. Their system isn't terribly different.

You can find a copy of the book on eBay if you are interested in that specific character creation system. I don't currently have access to my copy of the SM RPG book (my sister borrowed it), and I'm in the middle of finals, so I can't help you.
