Popularity of seasons and characters...

Just wondering ... what would you say are the most and least popular seasons, inner senshi, outer senshi and starlights?

Most people think that S is the most popular season, but actually I think Stars might be more well-liked than S, or they're at least about equal in popularity. It's obvious that SuperS is the least popular season, although R isn't too well-liked either: you very seldom see it listed as a person's favorite season.

Most popular inner senshi? I'm not sure. I think that either Ami or Minako are the most popular inner senshi, and Rei's probably the most hated inner senshi. Is that about right? When it comes to the Outer Senshi, Hotaru is probably the most popular with Haruka being pretty well-liked as well. I think that Michiru is probably the least liked outer senshi since a lot of fans seem to dislike her for being "too perfect." Seiya seems to be the most popular Starlight and Taiki's obviously the least popular one.

Well Ami is the most popular in Japan for sure.

Going by what I hear for the US and the rest of the senshi- Ami's also popular here. So are Makoto and Minako. Usagi (if you count her as an inner.. I don't) is pretty popular but I don't know, she's hated by many too. And from what I hear yeah Rei is probably the most hated. She's my second favorite character in the series though. Funny thing is I used to dislike her too until I saw the Japanese version.

As for the outers Hotaru is definitely the most popular. I think least popular should go to Setsuna. Not that a lot of people "hate" or dislike her, but many people are just indifferent. Haruka and Michiru seem more popular than her to me.

I don't know where to place Chibi-Usa but she gets hated on waaaay too much in the US. Don't know about Japan.

I agree with you on the Starlights.

And for the anime seasons, in Japan S was the most popular. Stars didn't do as well as it should have because many viewers were lost after SuperS. But here maybe they're about equal.

For the manga the Infinity arc was also the most popular in Japan. I read somewhere that Black Moon was the least popular. Don't know if it's true.

I've talked to alot of my friends about which Senshi is their favorite and the most popular seems to be Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Venus, and for the Outers, Sailor Uranus is most popular amongst my friends. I never asked about the Starlights, but from what I can tell from other msg boards, Seiya is definetly one of the more popular with Taiki as least popular. As for which seasons are most popular, from all the msg boards I've been to, Sailor Stars has been most popular, probably because it's the only season that's left to be released in the U.S. and alot of people want to see it so badly.

I've always been rather curious, but why is Ami so popular? Is it because people can relate to her, or is it because she has a good head on her shoulders, or because she's intelligent? Or is it maybe because she's the only "inner" senshi (not counting chibiusa) to have unnatrually (sp?) colored hair? Or because she has that cute little computer? I'm not sure if we should start a new thread or not, but why is Ami everyone's favorite?

I think one reason is because of her intelligence -- a lot of fans probably admire her and relate to her because of that. Also, she's shy, quiet, has few friends and low self esteem and I think that a lot of people are able to relate to her because of that.

Two of my best friends love Ami too. One of them (the girl) has absolutely nothing in common with Ami and still likes her best. My other friend (the guy) loves her because he thinks she's the prettiest. I personally am like Setsuna and Hotaru the most but I like Michiru best and I find that most people who don't find the Outers Snubby like the Outer for their power.

Stars is the best by my opinion because its so radical compared to the rest. I read somewhere (online) that S was the most popular in Japan then SuperS annoyed a lot of die hard moonies and they never gave Stars the chance it deserved because they disliked SuperS so much. SuperS is my least favourite too. Too much Chibusa for my liking.

IMO Ami is way overrated. She's easily my least favorite out of the planetary senshi. For many reasons...

I like Jupiter because she's brave, (she sacrifices herself, if you will, to protect the others during the battle with Queen Beryl, I see that as being very brave) friendly (she's compassionate to everybody) and strong (I think watching her battle is a good enough explanation for this)

I have to agree that Mercury is the most popular in Japan, but among my friends it's Pluto and Saturn. Probably because they consider them the "Most powerful." As for season, I think it's S, because of all the plot that's going on. But in America I agree that Stars is the most popular since it hasn't been dubbed yet.

not sure about the starlights, and I don't really have a character I dislike.

Seasons, Stars is fav. SuperS is least fav. *has my favorite ending though. ^_^ lalala never give up, gambaduwa...*

In the Japan, S was obviously the most popular IMO. As far as the US goes, I think people probably responded most to the R season.

Also, for some reason, everyone loves Usagi hates Rei in the US. At least, from what I've heard they do. I really have no idea who is most popular in japan though. o_O

As far as the outer Senshi go, I think all of them are evenly matched. I personaly like them all as well.

Guys, this is a topic about who you think is the most popular senshi all around, NOT WHICH SENSHI YOU LIKE BEST.
Whoever responded with their favorite instead of keeping with topic, EDIT YOUR POST, or it will be deleted.

As for why Ami is so popular, or "over-rated" as someone put it, it's because in Japan, she is the ideal girl. Girls in Japan really relate to her, with her heavy studying, her timidness, and her tactfulness. She's what's generally expected of a Japanese girl, and that's why she's so popular.

As for seasons, I think S and Stars seem to be most popular in the US (though I suspect Stars benefits from the whole "they can't show this in America" angle). SuperS seems to be (quite rightfully, imo) reviled.

As far as Outers go, Haruka seems to have a lot of fans and I don't know the hell why...

LMAO actually, no. I admire plenty of the traits Ami has. While I'm not a whole lot like her (some ways I am, some ways I'm not), I think traits like tactfulness, good study habits, a high sense of honor, and good common sense are very admirable, and so do the Japanese, which is why she's so popular.

I think S is definitely the most popular,both in the anime and manga,because it introduced the Outer Senshi,whom everybody loves.Of these Senshi,people seem to lean towards Haruka and Michiru the most.I'm not sure 'bout the Inners,but from what I've seen,Usagi,Ami,and Chibi-Usa are very well-liked.

You'd be surprised -- a lot of people actually prefer Stars over S. Just check the "Seasons" thread over here -- I counted, and more people there have Stars as their favorite than those who have S.

I personally think that Ami's popularity is due to her "ideal" personality. Sweet, smart, quiet, good at everything she does, perfect student, etc. Also, color therapy might have a lot to do with it as well. Since blue is one of the most popular colors (if not the most, according to http://www.infoplease.com/spot/colors1.html), she's immediately attracting to those who like blue.

I personally don't care for her at all, but that's just me. ^^;;

Hotaru really seems to be very popular, as does Usagi. Since Usagi is the main character, this isn't really suprising.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Outer Senshi are featured in S and Stars, and that those two seasons are the most popular. :3
