I went on their new website and Sailor Moon got a mention. But more importantly, do you think this could help Sailor Stars come out in America or maybe ( might be being WAY too hopeful) a redub of it?
Muahahahaha, Kirby will kill you all!..with a boiling cauldron of hot water.... =D!

Somehow I doubt it given that (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the rights to the anime have reverted back to Naoko Takeuchi so Toei can't do anything without her say in the manner and since Geneon's rights to CCS recently expired, things aren't really looking up for classic shoujo anime in the U.S.

It's looking rather grim for the show, so I really don't think so. Unless Toei can go and by the rights back to air the show in the US (which I really doubt they would do), it isn't coming back.

*sigh*

Naoko Takeuchi has nothing to do with the anime. She isn't the reason why were didn't get episode 67, next episode previews, or Sailor Stars. The anime is all Toei. Toei, not Naoko Takeuchi.

Yes, she is a major part of how the anime is handled. Everything SM related must be approved by Naoko herself.

And, in the case of the already produced anime, both Toei and Naoko must give their stamp of approval before anything can be done. (Though I'm not sure if Kodansha must approve too.)

Honestly, the odds are better for Naoko giving the green light to another studio to make a new anime series than Stars ever (legally) reaching US shores.

No, she barely has anything to do with the anime. And she has nothing to do with what company can license the anime. Or how the anime is released. The anime belongs to Toei, the original idea and manga belongs to HER.

She approves everything Toei does? Yeah right. We've all heard about how she hated changes Toei made in the anime. Do you really think she approved the Starlights becoming sex-changers?

So, what's this I always keep hearing from people about some legal conflicts of some sort between Toei and Kodonsha in Japan?

Umino is correct here. Once a manga artists signs off the rights for a company to make an anime out of their story, they have basically no say in the final product.

Take Excel Saga for example. Kishi Rikkdo (i'm not sure if i spelled his name right), who created the manga/story, signed off to let the company make an anime. The director, "Nabeshin" as he's called, repeatedly makes fun of the fact that Rikkdo has NO SAY in the anime, and how he thinks they "butchered" it throughout the show.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Yeah, they really stick it to Rikdo even though most episodes start out with him "approving" Excel Saga to be made into a (Insert genre here) show.

Ilpalazzo sends Excel to kill him in ep. 1 with a BIG Chinese sword (Manga is detrimental to the coming world order after all :p).

Although it should be noted that Koshi Rikdo wanted the Anime to have a different story then the magna and was pleased with the result.

Yep, I know. ^_^ Excel Saga is one of my favorite shows, and it's hilarious how they poke fun at Rikdo having no say over the show.
