Most Painful Line

Maybe she saw it on rerun in Crystal Tokyo? Or Chibi-Usa-sama told her about it?
Just kidding.
Also, I didn't know when that show first started, because I've never really watched it myself. And my point was about making references to American stuff in general--on Ranma 1/2, there's an entire EPISODE that's based around things from American Western movies.
But purists don't like ANY changes anyway, so...

Actually, that wouldn't be too far off. After all, 1000 years in the future, they probably have hundreds of vintage cable channels. We have quite a few of them in the year 2004...imagine how many there would be 1000 years from now.Rainbow wrote:Maybe she saw it on rerun in Crystal Tokyo? Or Chibi-Usa-sama told her about it?

I withdraw my complaint. *eats a chocolate cup cake*
After all, compared to vallge girl slang, that line isn't really too bad.

Another painful line is the way this line is said, not the actual line, but the delivery of the line.
"No one but me touches my face, Hiyah!"
this line was said by Catzy in the dub in a gangterish ebonics gangster gangsta voice. She sounded line a rapper gangster then she said it.

One phrase that I shudder to remember is "Planet Power." It was in the episode of Sailormoon S when all the Sailors were gathering outside Mugen to confront Mistress 9. Everybody seemed to be screaming that crap out.
"This is the biggest challenge Planet Power has ever faced!" - One of the Inners.
"I just hope Planet Power protects us" - Uranus
Even Pluto is not spared from this atrocity:
"I just hope Planet Power will protect us all!"
At that point I wanted to cry...

What's wrong with "Planet Power?" It sounds fine to me, no different than the transformation phrases the Outer Senshi use in the original version. I would think the "hated" phrase would be "Scout Power," but "Planet Power" is closer to what they use in the original. (aren't they using power from their planets?)Vagabond wrote:One phrase that I shudder to remember is "Planet Power." Perhaps I should have been more specific, I don't really have a problem with the quote itself, as much as how it was used in that scene. If "Planet Power" was used in just the henshin sequences, I would be fine with it. However, it was really cheezy at that point, especially when you compare it to the original dialogue about saving the world without a Messiah and not sacrificing innocent people. What's wrong with "Planet Power?" That's Vagabond's opinion, and there's no reason for you to be analytical about it when all this topic is about is listing what you think the most painful lines are. I understand you're entitled to disagree, but not everything needs to be analyzed or countered, Rainbow.Rainbow wrote: What's wrong with "Planet Power?" I'm in agreement about the planet power nonsense. It sounds like Captain Planet's planeteers in action.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I'm sorry if I sounded judgemental. I think I got karma payback for questioning Vagabond's opinion, because I got my own comment on someone's art "corrected" on a different forum. So I think I just got punished...

CWI got too caught up in using certain phrases? Like "Girl Power" in SuperS...
"This guy are sick."- Aeris (Final Fantasy VII)
Oh yeah, I think I remember that episode. It was when Sailormoon saves the Amazon Quartet from Zirconia, right? Man that was bad.CWI got too caught up in using certain phrases? Like "Girl Power" in SuperS...
"Girl Power's.....ARgh!....Gotta....stick together!" - Sailormoon
"There's a lot of Girl power staring at you right now!" - Ves Ves
That had to been from a male writer (a very lousy male writer) because no self-respecting woman would have someone say that crap in the middle of a battle.
That episode was pure crap (or gold depending on your point of view). I love the line that comes after Ves Ves' above line.
"It's not NICE to stare!"
Thank You Yoda, I mean Zirconia.

Oh, who can forget
"What a hunkasaurous."
and virtually any line said by Lori in that painful southern accent.

My worst one? I can't even bear to type it out:
"Your glasses are blinding you, geek!"
That would be from Greg (Urawa Ryo-chan) to evil Darien, in the ep where the rainbow crystal carriers are being sought out again. Why did they have to turn one of my favorite characters into a complete moron?? >__<

Season one:
Amy: Do you know how you look like? A silly lovesick frog that's just waiting for a big old bug to fly in its mouth!
How could they do that? T_T They transformed poor cute Ami-chan into a conceited brat, which really wasn't the case in the original version. *cries* AND it was Out of Character...
(sorry, if the line is not quite correct, but I don't watch the dub too often ^^°)

No offense but out of all he painful lines that you all posted, the most painful line that I have ever heard was this...
Sailor Moon S.
"We're cousins!" - Michelle
Right after hearing that line, I literally almost threw my pillow at the TV screen. Besides... wouldn't it be better if Cloverway referred to them as "room mates" or "best friends?"
