Favorite Sailor Moon Time Period

Post by SailorMoonFan » Wed Nov 15, 2006 2:13 pm

From the Sailor Moon series there are three time periods that takes place which are:

1) The Silver Milleninum (with Princess Serenity)
2) The Present (20th century)
3) Crystal Tokyo (w/ Neo-Queen Serenity as queen in the 30th century)

With Crystal Tokyo there seems to be more things that we don't know much about except for the fact that Neo-Queen Serenity will be the queen and that this will occur in the 30th century. Apart from that we also know that it will be settled on Earth and not on the moon.

Which time period is your favorite and why?

I don't have a favorite as I was thinking deeply.
Why doesn't anyone remeber, except the senshi, tuxedo mask and the cats, that a palace existed on the moon, suresly someone would have recorded it in history
Febby''''s here, the shortest month of the year, and in London the weather is random, so there

i was always wondering what happened with the Apollo Moon Landing in the sailormoon universe.

Anyway my favorite time would be crystal tokyo because theres lot of fan fic potential there.

My favorite time period is the present simply because it's obviously the one with the far most exposure. I can't really prefer the other two periods when the present is the setting for ~195 of the episodes.

I do find the Silver Millenium to be a very nice time, though. It just seems like a really peaceful and absolutely perfect time. It would've been a nice era to be alive. I also think Luna and Artemis were much more at home here than they ever were in modern Tokyo.

Crystal Tokyo... well, it doesn't seem quite as Utopian and idyllic as the Silver Millenium was, and the aspect I'm most interested in - the personalities of the Sailor Senshi as adults - was never explored at all (sans briefly with Usagi, who they said was a lot more mature and queen-like in the future). So while it has a lot of potential, its implementation in the anime was kind of bleh.

Crystal Tokyo because the majority of my fanfics are set there. I suppose I like it best because, one, it's an easy place to stick future Senshi generations, and two, because there's so little known about it one can have more freedom in making up things about it.

Interestingly enough, I think according to the manga, if Sailor Moon was in real-time Crystal Tokyo would be formed by now. And if we're going by the anime storyline, we'd probably be in the Deep Freeze!

Silver Millenium is not the name of the time period, it's the name of the kingdom.

Either way, that's the time period I enjoy best...the time on the moon, in the past. I just think the episodes telling that story are so beautifully done, and I'm a hopeless romantic, so the whole forbidden earth/moon relationship appeals to me.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Your defintely right Rainbow, if SM was in real-time (according to the anime) we would defintely be in the deep freeze. But I have a certain question. When people on the Earth is frozen, and let's say Usagi's earth mother is still living and is frozen as well, when Usagi becomes Neo-Queen Serenity (in the 30th century) and unfreezes the Earth, will her earth mother even know who Usagi is or will her memories just disappear from the powers of the Silver Crystal that will transform the old Tokyo into Crystal Tokyo?

Since the actual story doesn't say, then I'd say it's up to the fans to decide! I personally would prefer that she still remember who Usagi is, but that's just me, and other fanfic writers might have a different take on it.

Now if you were to compare both the Silver Millenium (the Moon Kingdom) and Crystal Tokyo which one seems more peaceful to you?

Silver Millenium, definitely...at least until some bee-otch comes along and messes everything up.

I think Crystal Tokyo was more peaceful than Silver Millennium. While the vast majority of the time Silver Millennium was peaceful, it still ended in tragedy and there's no way it can be brought back. But even though Crystal Tokyo went through a lot of hardships, it was able to over-come them and is able to live on in peacefulness and prosperity with the defeat of the Black Moon. Having said that, my favorite time period is the past. I love the fairytale-like feeling of the Silver Millennium, the forbidden relationships, and the tragic ending but I've always preferred sad endings over happy ones.

I think the Silver Millenium was just a bit less peaceful. Sure, there wasn't any recorded actual war until Metalia, but up until then there had been growing tension between Earth and the Moon. Crystal Tokyo, there was Death Phantom at first, and then later the Nemesis exiles, then finally the attack of the Black Moon, and now there's peace until whatever point in history brings the rise of Sailor Chaos (which for all we know could be much more distant than the 30th or 40th century).

That aside, I like the 20th century best because almost all the plot-important events occur there, and by extension, character development.

Moon Kingdom.

It had some magical feel about it. And I liked the general romantic feel of it.

I wish we could have seen more of it in the anime.

After Neo-Queen Serenity is queen we know that Chibi-Usa (AKA: Small Lady) will be queen but what will her title be (what will she be called)?

Well, if there's a Chibi Moon and then a Chibi Chibi Moon, how about Neo-Neo-Queen Serenity?

Well as a princess Chibiusa is called Princess Usagi Small Lady Serenity Tsukino so I guess when she becomes queen she will be called that too but with the word "Queen" added on instead of princess. But I'm wondering if "Small Lady" will be added on when she becomes queen--I mean she won't be small anymore so I'm assuming they will call her Queen Usagi Serenity.[/b]

I was kidding about the "Neo-Neo" thing although doubled words like that aren't unheard of in anime, like with Tokyo Mew Mew or wasn't there something called "Miko Miko Nurse?"

Perhaps they'll just drop the small and call her "Lady Serenity"?
