How do the Sailor Senshi revert to their normal selves?

Post by Dr. Casey » Mon Sep 11, 2006 9:48 pm

Maybe I missed something, but it seems like it always goes: MotD is defeated -> aftermath with the senshi in their non-transformed state. What the hell happens during those critical moments in-between that we're not allowed to watch?

They go into uber hot kinky yuri sessions and take each other's senshi outfits off, then put their normal clothes back on after.

Uranus has de-henshined in a scene before. Her outfit simply faded, flower petals flew by, you saw a naked shot of her ass, and then her normal clothes returned.

Also, in the S movie, the senshi de-henshin becuase they begin to lose their powers. They simply get all sparkly, then nekkid. =P

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Well... we know that with Moon and Chibi-Moon it involved some type of hassling with the broach. Since we only saw an ass shot of Uranus I can't say for sure what the others do. Maybe it's similar? Didn't Mar's de-transform when she was attacked by a Daimon? Wasn't the diamon aiming at her chest?

Mars never transformed when attacked by the Daimon. And it was the SuperS movie Tiff XD!

Moon detransforms tons of times (although not on purpose), she gets surrounded by ribbons.

But in reality, I vote for the lesbian sex.

If they de-henshin they would have back their regular clothes, but they didn't. So the fact they were naked and lost powers does not necessarily imply they were de-transformed from their Sailor-identities.

Apart from Sailor Uranus, Tuxedo Mask detransformed upon his own will in episode #26. Since both of them did not use any magical items the act of detransformation is probably done by a simple effort of one's will.

*smacks forhead* DUH PANDA!

Well, I got nothing then... I swore I remember seeing at least one of the senshi detransforming when they were attacked...

Considering they all turned the colors that they turn when they were transforming, it is only logical to assume that they began de-transforming, and thus lost their sailor identities. However the process never finished and they didn't completely detransform. That's why tiff said "BEGIN to lose their powers". OBVIOUSLY if they had finished it their normal clothes would have reappeared.

It is not obviously. If so, what forced them to detransform then?
As we can see in other episodes, the only way to force Sailor senshi to detransform without their will is to damage/take away their magical items (R movie, episodes #51, 90, 199). On the other hand, rendering Sailor senshi unconscious/draining their powers/killing them do not force them detransform, as we can see in episodes # 35, 45, 69 and several other episodes.

In the SuperS movie Chibimoon detransforms without her magical item being damaged, rather she detransformed after Badiyanu "drained her of her powers". So draining them of their powers is a way to force a senshi to detransform. And if not detransforming, what WERE they doing in the SuperS movie? Going sparkly just for the hell of it??

I believe all of the examples you cited exclusively involve Sailor Moon (right?). I would argue that she is somewhat of a special case as she transforms with the Silver Crystal.

Also, how would you explain the destruction of Star Fighter's item in episode 199? She remains transformed yet her item is gone. The de-transformations in the series are not really consistent.

Sailor Star Fighter's attack item was destroyed but not her henshin item, which is her little microphone/headphone thingy
Favorite Senshi: Saturn and Jupiter
If I had a Henshin phrase it would be: Dragon Master Power! Armor Up!

Sailor Star Fighter's attack item was destroyed but not her henshin item, which is her little microphone/headphone thingy
I'm not sure you're right. I think the headphone thingy is part of his/her henshin, but she needs the star item too. I believe that in one episode (184?), Seiya attempts to tell Usagi about his identity while they are hiding from Aluminum Seiren and Lead Crow. You see him begin to pull the star item out of his pocket. So it seems to me like the star item is the henshin item, even though it is never shown explicitly as such, because the headphone is never shown anywhere else. There exists in the series a precedent of transformation items being the only items that appear outside of a battle context.

She reaches for the headphone thingy in that episode, Jeff. Also Yaten reaches into his pocket for it too in the Luna episode (towards the beginning). The Headphone thingy does have a star on it where it covers the ear.

However, I dunno if the headphone thingy and the star attack thingy are connected, I read that the star attack thingy was a total anime invention, and wasn't in the manga.

Oh.

Well, I'm just wrong. But anyway, to get back on-topic, live-action Sailor Moon de-transformed when Dark Mercury shattered her Moon Stick.

Indeed. Also though, did you notice (this is offtopic btw >_>) that in that episode in stars where Fighter's star thingy is destroyed, she gets it back either later in that episode or in the next episode and uses it again >_>;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; LOL

You lie. I think I know what you are talking about, but they don't use their Bandai star toys - they just turn into lights and fly around like some weird screensaver. That scene never made much sense to me.

Thinking about the live-action Dark Mercury attack on Sailor Moon some more, there really is evidence of the yuri de-henshin theory here. We don't actually see Sailor Moon revert, we just see her transformed and, in the next scene, passed out in Ami's lap, having her head stroked. Er...

*cough*

In all seriousness, I thing they detransform the way they transform. Mercury has tons of aqua ribbons surrounding her, Mars has fire rings that blast upwards, Jupiter has a green atomic path and Venus is encircled by Stars. Chibi-Moon does it with hearts, Pluto with the sands of time washing over her, Saturn being engulfed in purple energy and Neptune having water wash over her.
