So whats your opinion of the Negavision Dub of Sailor Stars?
Title pretty much speaks for itself.
My opinion on it is it's pretty bad. For one they use the DiC music, which I could live with if they didn't use it badly. They use all the wrong music in all the wrong places such as the Transformation Music when the outers are giving their speeches. Also they completely renamed all the attacks for some odd reason. An example would be World Shaking is now Uranus Shockwave Strike. What makes this attack in particular even worse is the fact that they pronounce Uranus as Your Anus, which is still a way to pronounce it, it just doesn't sound very good. And the voice Actors aren't too good. The 2 that really annoy me are Plutos and Uranus's. Pluto's is completely monotone from what I have seen and didn't sound feminine enough. And Uranus's voice sounds like its a guy doing the voice acting, yes Uranus is a Lesbian, but that doesn't mean she is a man. It just really annoyed me.

It serves it's purpose I guess... Was this the same fandub that says Usagi is 18? I'm not to sure.... I'm not a fan of the voices... I think they all sound the same. And overly squecky at times.

Well, back when the site was up, I bought both tape - volume things. I wanted to get the DVD of both volumes, but I was like...."I have no money."
Honestly, I like it a lot. The Sailor Says at the end of episodes are pretty funny, and I like how they use the dub music/Japanese music/their own music? for it.
I think it's pretty good for a fandub, honestly.

Ugh. What complete and utter crap. It's more evil than the DiC dub. They aren't very good writers either - they took lines right from the VKLL translations, which sound weird in English, and with DiC music cues no less. If you hear DiC music in the background, they are supposed to be saying stupid shit. Granted, they do sound stupid with their line delivery and awkward translation, but they should be saying things like OMG TAIKI IS THE BOMB. Leaving the names untranslated was a bad move too, especially since they have no clue how to pronounce then. Yay-ten?
If they had chopped things up more (like giving the Three Lights some weird, DiC-ish backstory), changed names, Americanized the dialogue more, used the music cues more effectively, and gotten better overall voice-actors, it MIGHT have been worth watching just for the weirdness factor. As it is, it's just rubbish.

I'm with Jeff. It's simply awful.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I don't get why they'd use the DiC music. I mean... it's more work than simply keeping the original music in, money isn't an issue in this case (I'm assuming), and it doesn't really create a more authentic dub experience since S and SuperS used the original music.
And they really shouldn't try to stick to most of the dub voices, Luna especially. Damn it, Negavision, just because some executive randomly decided to make her sound like an old British lady eleven years ago doesn't mean you're obligated to keep it up.
I've never heard Artemis speak in the dub, though... is that what he actually sounds like? O_o I had to XD at "Hooray for him!"

i like it actually! the whole point of it is supposed to be that it's like a DiC dub of Stars which is why they have similar voices and the sailors ays. i agree that they should not use VKLL's lines though.
one thing i dont like is serena's voice. the girl-in-charge (or closest to it) of any fandub always gives herself sailor moon/ usagi/ serena, and she's almost ALWAYS the worst one for the job and sounds like she should be doing chibimoon.... sheesh give someone else a chance! the same applies here

My reaction.
I must find where they keep their source material, and hack it into teeny tiny bits. Thus saving the world.

This fandub wasn't too bad but it wasn't too great, either. I don't mind the usage of the Dic dub music and names because it's a fandub and those aren't meant to be accurate to the original like professional dubs are. I think they were trying to do a "What if Dic dubbed this?" thing with Sailor Stars and I think it came out pretty decent, but I agree that it would've been better if the dialog was more Americanized and the video chopped up more and if they made it more of a parody of the Dic dub rather than a half-Dic/half-original dub. The voices they used weren't all that great but they weren't all that terrible, either. They certainly weren't any worse than any of Cloverway's. The only ones I couldn't stand were Lita's, Darien's, Amara's, and Nehelenia's. None of them could act to save their life and I hated how they made Amara sound too much like a man. Ogata-san had a boyish sound to her too but it was still soft enough that you could tell Haruka was a woman. I think my favorite of their voices was Amy's. She sounded almost exactly like her Dic VA that you almost couldn't tell them apart and whoever plays her in this fandub does a really great impersonation job. I actually wish they could've played Amy in the Cloverway dub. This fandub isn't too bad and it's definetly better than that crappy PGSM fandub I once saw on Animesuki.com and I'd like to see more of it, but it's not something I would pay money to see and it's definetly nowhere near as good as the original. It's just an amusing way to kill some time.

Well, it's nice watching it. I liked the DiC dub, I now like this dub too. Okay, I wouldn't exactly spend my money on it, but it's not nearly as awful as I thought when I read your commentaries.
But to each his own, ne? ^.-
It's an okay dub for me.
But: It surprised me that they didn't give the Threelights American names such as Sean, Wright and Zack and kept their original names xDDD

i cant seem to find much information on this company. Ive been googling it for an hour and all I can find are broken links and unrelated sites. Not that that is an unusual thing for a google search to turn up.
I had a "friend" who was working on a fan dub of stars in some company. I dont know if this is the same company or not. I"ll keep looking and make a more informed post later.
As for the material Ive seen of the actualy dub. Its pretty sad so far. I dont get the music. It seems like a lot of work to make the show a lot worse. It doesnt make a lot of sense.
