Season 1 ending

Post by smfan423 » Thu Aug 03, 2006 3:27 am

Yo, I just finished watc...well reading the first season of SM (from dubbed transcripts by the way).

Man, they lose their memories--that sucks. I just stand can't the thought of losing memories like that. Gives me a sad, sickened feeling in my stomach.

So what do ya'll think?

It gave the beginning of the second season a somewhat weird atmosphere. The "first" meetings didn't have a classic feeling like in the first season, it was just... kind of off. It seemed like a pretty crappy idea at first, but it all works out fine in the end... or within the first two episodes of Sailor Moon R.

If it gave it any sort of a weird atmosphere, then that is because it initially wasn't supposed to happen. Takeuchi-sensei was originally going to end Sailor Moon after the first season, and it was only because of the fans and probably the influence of other higher powers that she continued it at all. So naturally, when they ended up continuing it, they had to write the story around them all not remembering each other and then having to fight again.

The anime was going to end after one season, but Takeuchi always planned on doing the Black Moon story arc of the manga (Chibusa comes in the same chapter in which Usagi defeats Metalia).

I think losing their memories made sense for the way the season ended, but the first two episodes of R kind of sucked. When the other 4 senshi got their memories back they were just like, "Oh hi Usagi LOL, you're so clumsy that you need us." There wasn't a single tear shed.

Yea. Their very non-enthusiastic reuniting, always makes me feel a little weird while I'm watching anything R and on, when I think about it.

I think all that senshi non-enthusiam (or something its really early and i cant really think straight) its all made up by that one line at the end of the first episode of R "Goodbye to the normal Usagi." that one line totally makes up for it

I don't have any problems with the first arc of Sailor Moon R and how the Sailor Senshi got their memories back. But thank goodness that Sailor Moon didn't end just at Season One. I don't think the show would have been what it is and have that many fans.

I actually really love the first season finale. The scenes of Usagi passes the other senshi, and running into Mamoru was nice. The best of course, were Usagi's final lines.

"My dream is to find a cool guy who'll protect me no matter what! That's my dream!"

Makes me tear up everytime. ;__;

I think that line was left out in the dub, though. :(

The dub for the last episode (or rather, last two) was royally fucked up. Infact, the changed the last scene to "Serena" helping out at a hospital, and meeting "Darien".

DIC, you really suck.

The ending for season 1 in the dub was pretty funny. One minute they're all fighting Beryl and then a second later Luna is like "Good thing the scouts defeated Beryl, but they don't remember it!" I bet dub fans were confused at that one as there was no explanation as to why the scouts didn't remember each other.

Let me just say the ending was pretty fucked up. When they get their memories back, it's not emotional, just they meet each other. I'm not that far in the dub, but when Darien/Moonlight Knight.Tuxedo Mask gets his memory back, I hope that he has an emotional reunion with Serena.

The original was fairly good with that.

I really liked Usagi re-gaining her memory, and then latching onto Mamoru, and he's scared out of his mind.

I guess I was bad at following the dub's shoddy dialogue, or maybe it was just really easy to read in between the lines, but I always knew that they all died, and so did everybody else I knew.

AND IT MESSED US UP. Same with all those squiggly Japaneesy words, and "Crystal Tokyo." That should have changed that to Crystal Des Moines or something.

I like the ending in Classic. It always makes me kind of sad to watch it.

I was comparing the DIC and the Jap sub one of Episode 46, and I felt that something was left out in the end
But Imagine f the Sailor Soldiers didnt lose their memories

I didnt like how Sailor Moon R began... because there was something nostalgic about them meeting.. unlike when they first met

I always have to cry at the end of Classic. The song "You're just my love" and at the end where we see all the dead senshi reborn and such, Usagi and Mamoru fighting again, makes it even worse T__T
Oh and I'm not going to say anything about the BGM, you can probably tell by this smiley: T______T

It's a sad happy end... anime needs more sad happy endings, that'd be great.

I don't see any problem with the R opening. The senshi just regain their memories back. So what? The show must go on. ;) I'm somewhat disappointed though, because Classic could've been the only season, that would make the ending much more intense and... don't know how to say it ^^°

i think the first season ending is absolutely beautiful and just absolutely wonderful. i was a bit surprised at how the senshi reunited but tons of stuff in the series makes up for it. After Mamoru recovers his memory it is soo cute though, so that at least was something we all enjoyed. I think the end of the classic and stars where the best!

I've only seen the dub ending to Classic, but I could tell something was wrong. It still makes me shiver and cry everytime. I have no shame.
It did confuse me for a while when everyone had lost memories, so I assumed something major had happened (i.e. death). I finally figured out there was more to the episode(s) when I watched the stupid SailorSays and saw edited bits.
It seemed like they had forgotten or didn't want to talk about killing Metallia when they did remember, and there could have been a bit more emotion when they do remember. Usagi's memory returning was fairly well done though. Nevertheless it was wonderful in the manga, it just fitted so well.

What was different in dubbed ending of first season? I know manga ending was a lot more bloody and heart-breaking though. Anime's is simply beautiful. I was rather pissed of how fast all those senshis died. Are those DD girls too tugh or what, they managed to kill sailor senshis:a thing other youmas never even got close to!
