Melancholic...does that mean you're addicted to melons? Ok. Anyway!

I think My Only Love was better for that scene than Maberoshi no Ginzuishou (sp?) because Tuxedo Kamen is dying and in the original they made it seem like a glorious thing and they ignored the dead body who was her love and I actually forgot he was still there when I watched the original. In the dub I thought it wasn't a depressing song, but it had a slight sadness to it and I liked it better. Plus, I remembered that Tuxedo Mask was there. :D

Well, technically, he wasn't her love quite yet. They hadn't yet discovered their past, and for the dub to glorify that they're omg in love just didn't make sense at that point. To me, when the scene was SUPPOSED to be about Sailor Moon becoming Serenity, the dub made it totally focus on this love that...didn't quite yet exist.

Does anyone own the original Sailor Moon S DVDS with "Pioneer" on the DVD Cover (not the bootleg)? On your copy of your DVDS, are there some subtitles that doesn't show up on the screen when a character speaks? I seem to have this problem on my DVD. Thanks.

..what does that have to do with music? You probably need to post this somewhere else. Please find a more topic-appropriate thread.

I actually liked the transformation music that DiC did. (Blasphemy, I know.) Since I was used to the dub for so long, it is an adjustment to get used to the original background music, but I like it for the most part. I haven't seen R dubbed, but there was a theme they used for Rei and Ami's henshins in the dubbed R movie that I always liked, but I've never heard it used anywhere else.

As for vocal songs, the original wins, hands down. Almost all the songs I've heard are beautiful.

I've always leaned more toward the original BGM and songs. The BGM from DIC always annoyed me. Just the way they put together a lot of things that just sounded corny. Whereas the original flowed better and helped me actually want to stick with it.

As for songs, I think on their own the dub songs are quite good. I like a lot of them. Very good beats and lyrics. But when you put them into the scenes it tended to get a little distracing. Although Carry On worked very well. However, the original songs still hold a special place in my heart.

I received my Sailor Moon DVD Collection (all 200 episodes) a few days ago so I'm watching all of the seasons in order but for right now I've been watchin SM Classics (first season) and as I'm watching them, I enjoy the original BGM MUCH MUCH more than the DIC music that was in the dubs. You are defintely right DreamEmpress, the original BGM and vocal songs do flow much better. In the original SM episodes, even though some of the same music is heard it doesn't sound so repetitve as does the DIC episodes. Probably the only dub song that I like is "The Power of Love"--I like that the most. In the last episode of SM Classic (ep 46), when Princess Serenity battles with Queen Beryl "Carry On" is heard but does it feel that the battle is very short? In the original, the battle seems to be much more longer. Some battle scenes that weren't in the dub are in the original.

Wow, just finished the first subbed episode from youtube and the ending music sounds awesome--and the lyrics make more sure too with the visual background. I also found the transformation sequence to be far more mature and makes Sailor Moon seem like a real grown-up superheroine. Pretty GOOD!!!

Has anyone ever seen "Make Up! Sailor Senshi" before? In one of the scenes when Usagi talks about Minako (Sailor Venus) a beautiful piece of music plays and I wondered if it plays in any other episodes in the series. If so which episode? Thanks.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. Maybe in the respective episode... perhaps? o_O (I know it's Anata no Yume o Mita ha, but....)

Thanks Kasumi! I'll go check and see if it plays in that episode in SM Classic about Minako and her past. That song might play in there.

If I'm mistaken, I'm really sorry. ^^° Well, you can still download the song elsewhere if you want to.

Okay heres my view on the music...

The dic transformations i liked...i dont know why i just liked them. Plus the DIC music that was sometimes played in the background becuase it cheered me up.In that case DIC won....

But the R movie!!!!

mistake number 1. in the cut dubbed version they played "The power of love" it had already been played once when Princess Rini and Neo Queen Serenity were fighting the death phantom. I thought, thats rediculous when i saw it on youtube and just though it was someones stupid idea, but no i was wrong and it was true. PLus i was confused becuase i had the uncut version and then played Moon revenge in the background anyway. I mean the song was meantfor the anime so why change it just becuase its in another language!

After that i got S and Super S uncut, i didn't wantthe mockery the dubbers madeit. So now i have the uncut versions. I love the japanese music pso im happy hehe.

The DiC background music is so etched into my brain that I can hear it playing in my head right now. All those different variations on the theme - played slowly if it was an "uncertain" moment, or fast if it was a "scary" moment. Memories. *tear*

Seriously, DiC's fatal mistake seemed to be that they couldn't come up with anything original. Kudos to them for doing some neat variations, but that's about it.

It always seemed to be that they based SM's transformation music off the last bit of the original music of SM's R transformation. It just sounds so....DiC like, even though it's from the original. Just that last bit just before she poses. Anyone else get me?

Like the DiC transformations, but I liked the original vocal songs. I really need to find a DiC transformation of Sailor Venus.

All I have to say is that both the Japanese and English version had their good music cues. A lot more so for the English version because of there re-vamp of all the Japanese music, making it a lot more exciting and upbeat.

I'm not saying i didnt like the original music, because in the 3 movies it was the best soundtrack ever written for Sailor Moon.. unlike the dub movies where they just used the same old music for every little bit of it. I think the Sailor Scout Transform theme was used @ least 5 times in the SMS movie Hearts in Ice... so it got a tad repetitive and annoying! and also the fact that they used music @ wrong times and no music where there should have been music.

The movies were a disaster when it came down to the music editing. SO many tracks to choose from and they got lazy and just threw any old music into the parts of the films.

I'm 50/50 on the DiC music versus the original. I love the original music, yet I don't think all of DiC's is necessarily bad. I love their songs with lyrics (ie, "My Only Love", "Oh Starry Night") even if they don't quite fit the way the original songs do.

I like some of the BGM, but I do agree that it becomes repetitive after a while. One of the few I don't mind is DiC's Negaverse Theme that they'd play whenever they cut to Queen Beryl/the Negaverse.

Hmm...I actually liked a lot of the dub music. I'm not sure what the song is called, but there's one particular slow tune that plays during the sad moments (like when En dies and Ali is holding her, I think)...I honestly can't describe it, but I really like that. I also liked that they used "Carry On" when Sailor Moon was battling Beryl at the end of the first season. Other than that though, I prefer the original music.
