I belive Ail and En mentioned that they were really low on energy and they found Earth which was teaming with it, they probably didnt have the reserves to go searching for another planet to set up shop
Favorite Senshi: Saturn and Jupiter
If I had a Henshin phrase it would be: Dragon Master Power! Armor Up!

Right now I'm currently watching Sailor Moon R (the first arc) and I'm loving it! Many SM fans think that Sailor Moon should have just ended with the first season but I certainly don't agree and I'm glad that the series continued. For one thing, the new powers that the Sailor Senshi get. For example Sailor Venus gets Crescent Beam Shower and also Sailor Mercury gets a new attack as well. This is important because not only do they have new attacks but these were attacks that they have had on the Moon Kingdom in the past and they have now reawaken in the present. So much of their lives always goes back to the past which is a very important element in the show.

So does anyone think that Sailor Moon R (the Doomtree series) was needed or should it have never been made? This is the only season that the original creator never wrote because she was writing the Black Moon series in it's manga form which she always wanted to write and Toei wanted to put it in anime form but while she writing it they couldn't make it so they made another group of episodes to follow before it which was . . . the Doomtree series.

I think it is OK. I loved the Doom Tree episodes, they are hillarious and plot is good. I loved the scenes of jealousy between Ail&Ann and Usagi&Mamoru. The way Senshis return are very well scripted too!

Bah, I thought some points were stupid. Like the fact that Alan and Anne were jealous because they were going out with somebody else. If they didn't want to go out with anybody else, then why say that they were siblings?

Anyway, I liked the Doom Tree arc a lot, despite the fact I've only seen the dub (yes I noticed the plot holes). I'm a sucker for 'boss-episodes', but I liked this one particularly because no-one was truly evil this time, just misunderstanding, and the ending was overall completely happy, despite the near death of An. The rest of the series was fun to watch, and I really think this was close to more light-hearted humour in the Sailor V manga.
Going with the lack-o-evil villains idea, it was fun to watch the two try and fit in with Earth society, they just seemed so innocent. I've got to watch it again to decide on a favourite episode, but I do like the one where Sailor Moon gets her new henshin, and when Sailor Venus gets hers, it's just such a powwerful moment. 8)

I've just finished watching the Doom Tree arc of the Sailor Moon R series (Japanese w/subtitles). As a whole the Doom Tree Arc was a very beautiful story and the last 2 episodes were the most emotional of them all. Ali and An finally learns what love is and what the Doom Tree was trying to teach them . . . even if it meant killing one of them. This was way better than the English dub and the intense music throughout the 2 episodes was amazing.

Near the end of Part 1, we hear Usagi's scream which sounds more real then the scream that Serena gave in the dub. Overall I prefer the original version.

I'm kind of glad that the series didn't just jump to the 2nd half of Sailor Moon R (The Black Moon Clan). The Doom Tree arc was more like an appetizer (13 episodes) and kind of light and not so involved as the Black Moon Clan Arc. I mean we already been through the first season which was filled with so much meat and gristle to the story, and putting the Black Moon Arc right after would just be too much so the Doom Tree series was just great to put after. Also it makes sense as well because right in the second half of R, Usagi and the Sailor Senshi has already got their memories and powers back. Throughout this series, Usagi seems to have got over her feelings of going back to being a normal girl, whereas in the beginning Usagi was sad to return to being Sailor Moon again.

I have a few questions about this arc:

1) The Doom Tree was trying to teach Ali/An about love, right? Now since they didn't learn it the tree was willing to do anything . . . even kill one of them. Is this right?

2) We learn the story of the Doom Tree. Now my question is was the Doom Tree's children fighting amongst themselves to take her energy?

3) OK, is this right? Once they destroyed their own planet, the Doom Tree tried to find a place in order to survive. Everyone of the Doom Tree's children did not survive but Ali & An were the only ones left and in order to survive, since everyone of their people did not, was to steal energy not only for the Doom Tree to survive but also for them as well.

Thanks!
(sorry that i wrote so much, lol!)

The dub of the Doom Tree arc is what got me hooked on Sailor Moon in the first place.

very very cool! I know some people dont like it juch because its not in the manga but it was cool. As for those who mention tht she gets hte moon crystal power henshin here, even if it hadnt been added im sure they would have placed it in hte beginning of the black moon arc. nut yea.
As for Moonlight KNight, he is cool and his speeches make a bit more sense than Tuxedo Kamen's but Tuxedo Kamen is still awesome.
Doesnt DiC call pretty much all the villains part of the "Negaverse", or is that just classic and r seasons?
Also...has anyone wondred if Fiore from the R movie is of the same speacies as Ali and En?

I don't think there was ever any mention of Fiore being the same species as them. I think he was just made to look like Ali and En.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

2) We learn the story of the Doom Tree. Now my question is was the Doom Tree's children fighting amongst themselves to take her energy?
I think it was more of a case of "energy is limited, everyone wants what's left for themselves" rather than everyone starting off trying to take it. It was given freely as long as the tree itself was able to do so.
Yes, that's correct.

I love this season. Although I've never seen the season uncut (I just bought it though so I'll be watching it in a couple of minutes, lol) I really enjoyed the dub version. So I know if I liked the dubbed version, I'll really love the original. It's one of the funniest seasons.

Eternal Moon, please tell me how you like the first half of Sailor Moon R in it's original format. I saw the first half of SMR in Japanese and its even more better and more funnier! Also you get to see it UNCUT whereas in the dub you didn't see certain scenes because they were . . . cut, lol! It's such a pity that SMR (the Doomtree arc) is not mentioned on the SM fans list's of favorites--it's usually overlooked--probably because it was so short. But you still gotta love it!

I just finished watching the first part of Sailor Moon R in it's original format and I absolutely love it! It seems like A LOT of scenes were cut from it (even more so than the first season excluding the complete episodes that were cut). It is a hilarious season and I enjoy it both dubbed and subbed.

Not sure if this had already been said by someone else, but the first half of the Sailor Moon R Anime was a fill-in by the directors of the animated series, while Naoko was writing her second edition to the Sailor Moon manga (because as i recall, the anime was running weekly and the manga monthly, so a lot of fill-in ideas were needed while Naoko progressed with the R storyline).

Thus, the Al, En and Makaiju (Alan, Ann and Doom Tree) series began.

I really enjoyed this part of the season. The quarrels between Usagi and Natsumi (Serena & Ann) were quite funny and it was overall an enjoyable start to the season.

The collection of new attacks for the 4 guardians (even though only used a couple of times) were cool to see and we also got to see the transition between the old brooch and Usagi's new Crystal Star. A new ransformation combined with a new attack made this an awesome season opening.
