Sailor Moon SuperS "Specials"

Post by SailorMoonFan » Sat Jul 01, 2006 12:36 pm

Who has watched the Sailor Moon "Specials"? The two specials were:

*Sailor Moon SuperS Plus: Ami-chan no Hatsukoi (Ami's First Love)
*Sailor Moon SuperS Special
Introduction
[The Return of Haruka and Michiru! The Ghostly Puppet Show
Chibi-Usa's Adventure! The Dreaded Vampire Castle

Which SM special do you like better? Do you like both? Explain why.

I like the Sailor Moon SuperS Special a lot because it has one of my favorite SM films in there which is "Chibi-Usa's Adventure! The Dreaded Vampire Castle". I just like the plot and it's great to see Chibi-Usa and her friends star here. One scene that I like in that film is when Usagi talks about another way to get rid of a vampire is to use garlic and then she mentions something like "Speaking of Garlic I'm hungry for Korean Barbeque". Also in the Sailor Moon SuperS Special we get to see our 2 favorite Outer Sailor Soldiers . . . Haruka & Michiru!

Unfortunately, I've never seen any of the specials. Do you know where I could watch them or buy them?

You can watch them on www.youtube.com and type in "Sailor Moon SuperS Special" and you will find the specials listed there. Hope this helps!

I think both were pretty good. I like how they used Aqua Mirage in the Ami special, and I thought it was neat to see what Haruka and Michiru were up to in the SS Special.

Did anyone else think it was irresponsible of the Outers to just ignore the threat of the Dead Moon Circus??

Hmm, that is a great question Gamer8585. If you think about it in a logical way, yep, the Outers are responsible for the Dead Moon Circus coming because at the end Haruka says something like "They [the "inner" soldiers] can take care of it. I mean Sailor Uranus & Neptune both knew that a new ememy had emerged and they could have stopped it but they both believed that the Inners can do it--they had confidence in them. Also Sailor Uranus & Neptune only had 1 mission to protect Earth and that mission was settled for the SM S season.

Hm, I really liked the first one (Haruka and Michiru's story), because it was well done and you couldn't really predict what was going to happen. On top of that, it was full of suspense, it made me shiver ^^ In some sense it also was a preview of the next season since it showed the Dead Moon already planning their next steps of searching the Pegasus.

I don't really like the second (the one with the vampire). It was okay I guess, since the vampire girl was creepy enough ^^° But that's about it. he positive side: It wasn't as ridiculous as the dinosaur episode.

About the short movie: I loved it to death! It was really well animated and drawn (shinyyy *__*), it gave Ami more of a personality and the way she freaked out was just adorable ^_^ The enemy was a bit freaky, but interesting. AND two of my most beloved side characters reappeared: Naru and Umino!

Not really. Considering SS was a mostly humor season, I don't think you COULD consider the Dead Moon Circus too much of a threat. Well, maybe, Nehelenia was a threat. But not really the other enemies. ^^;

Uh, the Dead Moon had the whole Earth covered in freaky spider-webs and vines, and the sun blotted out. The Death Busters had a little tornado downtown. Were Haruka and Michiru asleep or something? Why couldn't they even give Usagi their phone number?

I like the SuperS specials; the Outers one, not so much, although it was a little interesting, I prefer the vampire episode.

The Ami-chan special was cute, but it kind of fizzled out towards the end. I liked it though.

I don't think the Outers were irresponsible because it wasn't their mission. The Outers' goal was to protect the Earth from invaders outside the solar system like the Death Busters and the Anima-mates and the Dead Moon Circus came from within the solar system rather than from out of it, so it makes more sense to me not to have them fight the Dead Moon Circus since that wasn't their mission. As for myself I like both specials. I loved seeing Uranus and Neptune in action again and I especially thought it was funny when Michiru started getting jealous of Haruka flirting with the servant lady. That lady started blushing when Haruka flirted with her...I wonder if she even knew Haruka was a girl. ^^;; The vampire episode was cute and I abosuletly loved the Inner's Garlic Breath attack. Ami-chan no Hatsukoi was just as amusing and I thought Ami's new transformation sequence was really cool. I actually prefer it over the transformation sequence she normally uses in Supers and I wish they had used that in the series instead. But I still don't like how the "Ami's First Love" title completly ignores Ryo. >> Wasn't Ryo Ami's first love?

I've seen all of them except for the one about the vampire, and I've even seen the "Make Up Sailor Senshi" one in raw Japanese.

One of the cute little things I like about the Ami's First Love story is near the end, Usagi explains why Mercurius chose the name he did and she has glasses. That's just me, though, I always thought it would've been neat if Usagi had worn glasses. (yeah, I'm a meganekko fan, and I'm one myself)

Hey Rainbow, I think you will like the vampire episode which is called Chibi-Usa's Adventure! The Dreaded Vampire Castle. I really enjoyed it. Chibi-Usa plays a big role in the film so if you like her or tolerate her character I think you will enjoy it. Wait until you see the Inner's special attack: Sailor Special Garlic Attack! It's really funny!

I still don't know why they animated Ami's sidestory but ignored the Makoto and Minako/Rei ones that were in the manga with it...

I think that the crew that made the ami special said they would have liked to do one for each of the Senshi.

If this one came from the manga then I guess that would explain why they seemed to forget about Ryo (he's an anime only character).

Problemly because Ami is alot popular in Japan than Mako-chan, Rei, or Minako. It's a shame too because I LOVE the Rei/Minako Exam Battle. But, despite the fact I hate Ami, I really like Ami-chan's First Love. Easily the best animated Sailor Moon feature out there. Pretty funny too.

I also like the Super S special with Haruka and Michiru. The Vampire story was okay. Personally, I liked the manga version better.

Specials?! What are they?

Where do these come from? And how do you get them (I don't mean in terms of downloading.)? Were they actual episodes in the Japanese series? Do you get them in the uncut ADV and Pioneer versions? I remeber in the topic about R2 Dvds, that you get 5 out of 7 specials..... what are specials? I feel I've been living under a rock. So cut off from the world.

It did, and there was also one for Makoto and a combined one for Minako and Rei. I liked the Makoto one best, personally.

Ironically, Ami's special mostly follows manga continuity (All the inners got a new attack in Manga S, but the anime ignored them. Mercury's was Mercury Aqua Mirage)...

The vampire one was also from the manga, iirc.

Hi Rainbow! I knew that you would like the Vampire episode. It's one of the best SM SuperS specials and I just liked the whole dark tone of the eppy and of course Chibi-Usa plays a big role and we see more of her friends and how she interacts with them and we look at the school that Chibi-Usa goes to also. Great stuff! Also who can forget the Sailor Special Garlic Attack, LOL!!
