There is a possible remenant of this in one of the Chibi-Usa's Picture Diaries, Makoto is seen smoking a "chocolate cigarette," or so the MiXX manga I have says. Or does anyone know if that was a REAL cigarette in the original version?
There is no proof of that. I hate that theory, and until I see a translation of Naoko's words or some sort of proof, then I refuse to believe it. I've only seen that kind of information on horribly done webpages splattered with misinformation and bad "facts". Also, it IS a candy cigarette...I've seen translations of that page.
I would have loved to hear Lita actually say that with the voice they gave her :)
That would have been hilarious XD

I agree...I think those translations are supposed to say that she was supposed to be tough and a loner, but not an ex-gang member.

I never said I thought the theory was true or not. I just said it was something I heard and thought was interesting in relation to what you said, Tiff. I personally find a smoking Makoto hard to believe, mostly because if she DID smoke, wouldn't it be harder for her to be a Senshi?

Back on topic, I also like the voice of that animator (I think they dubbed her name as Lori), since she's got a Southern accent (yes, it's Rainbow rooting for the accents again).

Rainbow, not everything I say is directed at you. I was saying I hated the theory, not that you believed it, so there's no reason to defend yourself.
As for the southern accent...it was horribly done. I live in Texas, and my god, nobody sounds like that. It was just BAD.

I also have to give props to the narrator at the beginning of the Classic season...yeah, that scene was added in, but he did a good job with the narration. I have that opening sequence on MP3 somewheres around here, and it makes for a good introduction to one of my CDs.

*nods* although DiC messed up a bit in the scripting of the narration, the narrator himself did a good job with it. I always did like the music in the background and the voice just made it seem like some mystical story.

I agree. His voice fit the scene well, it's a shame we didn't get to hear him any other time.

On the Makoto thing, I actually believed the "rumor" when I read it. So maybe I should've said that.

As for Lori's accent...I don't care if it's a poorly done accent (like Shampoo's on Ranma 1/2), I still like it!

I'm not sure about the 'gang' thing, but I think she was going to be a smoker. Since in my artbook, there's a sketche of Mako-Chan smoking. And I remeber an OLD sketch (before Sailor Moon's time) also had Mako-Chan smoking.

Again, I have seen translations that say it's a candy cigarette.

With smoke coming from the cigarette? It seems to be just a normal cigarette. Anyway, I don't want to agrue over something so offtopic. :)

*shrug* I dunno. Like i said, I need proof. I have the artbook you're talking about, so I know exactly what you mean.

- Serena (BSSM, R - Terri Hawkes)
- Rini (R)
- Raye (BSSM, [most of] R, S, SuperS)
- Mina (BSSM, R)
- Lita (BSSM, R, S, SuperS)
- Ami (BSSM, R)
- Darien (BSSM, [most of] R)

Didn't care for the rest too much. Ikuko's voice was pretty good. So, I guess, Michiru/Neptune/Michelle's was too. Though the actress' delivery for Michiru/Neptune/Michelle was just crap. Haruka/Uranus/Amara's wasn't too bad, but again, the dialogue and the acting wasn't too great. The voice itself seemed fine to me, though. I don't remember Setsuna/Pluto/Trista's too well, so I can't comment. Her "the earth will not turn to ice, time will tell!" line in the S movie annoys the hell out of me, though.

I hated Hotaru's voice. sdfghksjdgdfk.

And Rini's original R voice was great, IMO. I loved the bratty sound. It suited her perfectly, I thought. The S/SuperS voice... ugh.

OMG that accent was horrible. Her most memorable line was "Dehsparat tams caw fo dehsparat meashas, Cassie!" I also thought she was a dude until she started talking.

Tracey Moore(first dub voice)was awesome as Usagi. She's no Mitsuishi-sama(as stated by a previous poster),but she practically nailed the role.Too bad she had to be replaced by the accursed actresses from hell known as Terri Hawkes and Linda Ballantyne so soon. :(

Besides Ami,the DiC Inner Senshi all got good voices as well, but Chibi-Usa's was god-awful,and "Raye's" second voice made her sound like even more of a bitch than before. The worst dub voice ever for a major character,in my opinion, was Luna's.Absolutely putrid. Why,oh why,did they have to make her a British nanny?(Boy,I'll tell ya,it ruined the S movie).Even "Molly's" horrid New Yorker accent is better than listening to Luna.I really liked the dub's portrayal of Umino, though, and Artemis' voice was okay,I guess.

And then there's Cloverway. An even worse "Amy",I must say,and the introduction of Linda Ballantyne...*shudder*.Lita and Raye still sounded good(Raye got her old voice back,of course),and Emilie Barlow(second Raye voice)does a much better Minako than Rei.Haruka and Michiru's voices weren't too bad,but the original Haruka was Megumi Ogata(my favorite female seiyuu),for cryin' out loud.Hotaru's voice was lovely, and all hail Stephanie Beard!(new Chibi-Usa)

Oops, forgot to comment on Mamoru.Like Usagi,he had three different dub voices--Rino Ramano,Toby Proctor, and Vince Corozza.Ramano was a little too jerk-y,and Proctor was suiting to the role but unable to really act,but I adored Vince Corozza. The voice itself was young yet sexy-sounding,and he really tried to put emphasis on his role.No offense, but I'm not really fond of Japanese Mamo-chan's 30-40-year old "manly"-sounding voice.

I'm sure I missed a few things, but those are the only opinions that were able to spring to mind at the moment.

I just remembered a few:
Queen Beryl. I think her English VA did very well.

Professor Tomoe's VA was excellent, and he even had an appropriately creepy laugh for the role.
"Tell my tale to those who ask... tell it truthfully, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence..." last words of Dinobot, "Code of Hero"
"Is that a poisonous elephant in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" ~another forum
"Monster! I''''m going to collide with you indefinitely as my limbs flail wildly about!" ~NPC, Dragon Warrior VII
"I bet you were thinking how hot it would be to see Tsunade with her gates wide open, inviting you..." ~DuneMan
"To use gaming terms, Tyrannosaurus Rex was a camper--- and he pwned his prey!" ~BaronVonAwesome
"I prefer to beat my opponents the old-fashioned way: brutally!" ~Dinobot

Well, to me personally, I think that Stephanie's voice really caught the cuteness in Chibiusa's voice, but not only that...it was the closest to a high-pitched Japanese voice. The first Rini was horridly nasal, and the voice just send shivers up my spine. Chibiusa isn't nearly as bratty as the first VA made her constantly sound. She made her sound like a little bitch, IMO. Chibiusa's character isn't truly like that.
Plus, Stephanie's voice is 100% natural. That's truly how she sounds, and that's a big plus for me.
